@@aaryanair3326basically for flexibility, that way not everyone on the team has to compete all events. Many times you're not going to have four gymnast who are great at all for apparatus. Often there's a few who just aren't that strong on one event but you want them for the other 3 events. It also allows for at least one person on the team to be a 1 or 2 event specialist, if desired, which often can help really bolster a team's scores.
