- There is the Italian hoagie and then there is the OLD FASHIONED ITALIAN HOAGIE. In this video, I go back to my old neighborhood where I had these sandwiches all the time when I was young. Yes! Ricci's has been around that long! Over 100 years! Don't live in South Philly? Don't worry! Ricci's will overnight the hoagies to you! You don't wanna miss this one folks! WARNING! Watching this video will make you hungry.
Another great hoagie place in South Philly is Lil Nicks Deli. Check out the video. th-cam.com/video/7GYh8TH7w60/w-d-xo.html
Have been eating those hoagies for over 50 years and the only thing that has changed is the layout of the store. Awesome hoagie, never had a jersey mikes but can’t believe it would be as good as Ricci’s hoagie.
Love the American
Cold Pork and Provolone
Turkey,
Old Italian
Regular Italian
Italian Tuna
Had them all many times, over 40 years.
They are the best!
😂🤣😂🤣@ dad walking in front of the camera!!
DAD FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
❤️🤭
LOL That was funny as hell. Thanks for watching. Hope you subscribed!
that walk right by the camera was the most dad thing to do lol. Love how genuine his reaction was " Oh Shit!"
LOL Thats was so funny. He had no clue!
Love this place. Like a hoagie factory.
As a kid, I used to go to a place that was famous for its Italian meats & cheeses. It's called Delallos. They made their own lunch meat at that time. All the cheeses you could ever want.
Closer to PITTSBURGH. Yes, they still sell their delicious products. Their Balsamic Vinaigrette is among the best in the world. DELICIOUS FOOD.
Best hoagies in the city!
I grew up in South Philly and when I was in high school in St John Newman back in the early '90s my Italian buddies took me to ricci's for the first time it was 90 or 91 And I never looked back!
There's a lot of great hoagie joints in South Philly, in Philly in general, but ricci's reigns supreme!
Thank you!! I'm going to place an order because of this video!! I'm outside Chicago and all the old time deli's like that have closed up at least in my area and I miss those great sandwiches...thanks again!
Hey thanks pal jersey here.. now I gotta try this spot next time I pull up in Philly honestly it all looks bomb and people there seems very genuine and nice cheers pal 👍
Thank you for watching brother! You won't be sorry! lol Old FAshion Italain is KILLER!
I ain't even have to watch the video I just liked it for the thumbnail
Looks amazing....
I miss the real deal. I moved to the north west. Can't get a hogie or a pizza worth a bleep. Fill in the bleep.i watch you guys. And outhers. To never forget where I came from. Much love from the north west mountains.
Don't how far you are in the PNW but here in Tacoma, WA we MSM deli and their hoagies are pretty good. My wife and I loved the hoagies we would get when we lived in Jersey and we never got the privilege of eating at Ricci's when we would visit Philly.
@@jesse0317 I'm north of you guys. Between Granite falls and Darrington. Not much out here.
Making a hoagie is very easy but it does take some practice and attention to detail. Strongly recommend people from the northeast USA or Philly area to learn the skill if you value them. Hardest part is to find the right roll. If you live in Florida, Publix sells some good rolls
@@ramencurry6672 I know I grew up in the north east. I now live in the north west. The bread game here is not good . I've only found one bakery that makes good bread. So the hogie, sub and pizza sucks
@@notyou9212 I’ve been reading reports of people successfully making authentic pizza and hoagie rolls at home. A bit of a challenge but not impossible. In my opinion it’s an important skill to learn.
I remember visiting my aunt in PA when I was younger. This was in the middle of PA. We used to love getting hoagies because you can’t get them like that anywhere else. This vid makes me want to take a trip back to PA.
Thank for watching! Means so much to me. When I move, I don't know what I will do. The food in South Philly is SO GOOD!!!!! lol You should contact Ricci's and have them deliver some hoagies to you! They over night them. If you havn't yet please subscribe. Thanks again!!
Try OIP Original Italian Pizza a small chain
The turkey Diablo is insane too.. ricci's is the best!
Spent a year in Philly back in '78 trying to make ends meet, going for the American dream. Got hoagies every day from Sal just off South Street, heck of a cat but a bit reckless 🤪 the demon drink got a hold of him in the end. took the recipe home to Lochend, Scotland in '79, soon everyone was rocking hoagies on the sidewalks. Great vid cheers
Thank you for watching brother! Hope you subscribed. WOW Really? Hoagies in Scotland? LOL Thats great!
Making me hungry
Nice review my man. hoagies rule
Thank you brother!! Thanks for watching!
Oh my! This is awesome! Grew up in Springfield. We would like the trolly downtown on Saturdays for hoagies. Thanks! I’m going to try to make an old fashion. 🎉❤
Get them to overnight one to you! Thanks for watching!!!
👍
Awe, man. Watching this while I'm eating two barritos cut up with tuna fish. You're killin' me.
Jersey Mike's is NOT a representation of Philly hoagies! Hell it's not a representation of Jersey hoagies for that matter. It's a fast food chain that is....I'll just say it is what it is.
LOL Agreed
Never tried it. But I do see them in the South
It was a hoagie shop on 52nd and locust Street they sold Hoagie steak sandwiches and they were famous for the mamajama, the name of this place was foofoo steak shop. I miss that place so much😊
i would love to travel to try the sandwiches here. looks so great.
They will ship them to you! Call and order Bo!
The best I’d recommend outside of Philly is Bobs Haven in Phoenixville. Italian Zep is AMAZING! If you don’t know what a Zep is it’s with NO lettuce! They cut all meats off the block for every sandwich and have fresh onions, tomatoes and peppers, sweet or hot, I like the sweet. BANGIN sandwich! The come in 1ft or 2ft! Bobs is a gem that’s been my family’s go to spot for hoagies for 40 years! Like this comment if you want me to tell the story of me and my sister crashing a Ford Pinto into this store.🤣
I live in Philly i never been there i'm a Gooey Louie's guy but i might give them a try and see how good they are!!
You won't be sorry. These guys have been around a very long time. They got it down brother. Let me know how you like it and THANK YOU so much for watching. Hope you subscibed.
Although the Italian Hoagie is generally made up of the same kind of deli meats, the quality of those meats varies. For example, the ham. The best use prosciutto, most use spice ham, pepper ham, or capicola, and the cheap ones use domestic or boiled ham. My mom made the perfect high-end hoagie because her friend's parents owned a deli in South Philly, and she just made hers the way they made theirs.
A shame philly turned into a dump. An expensive dump.
I wish California had these fantastic Deli's and sandwich shops. We have a few but nothing like this dedication..
Hey! Thank you for watching! Call them! They will overnight one to you.
I will do that this weekend. True east coast Delis are one of this country's greatest assets.@@nickylance7951
My first great sandwich i ever had was a full sized ham n cheese grinder up in CT with all* the classic fixings which made it so juicy and flavorful. I'll never forget it. Freshly and thinly sliced everything combined with fantastic bread [seeds seal the deal] make for my favorite meal. I'll always choose a great sandwich over a great pizza, that's a hard bargain too.
Kudo's to the Mom n Pop shops who put this beautiful food out every day. You have no idea what joy you bring to some of us out here.
❤❤❤🥖👍👏💐
Well said my friend! Very well said. Thank you so much for watching.
Been going there for a good 45 years or more. They're the Best for sure. I've tried them all, my favorite is the regular Italian add pepperoni and sharp provolone. The Old Fashion Italian, the Turkey with Swiss. The American is delicious!! believe it or not. Also love the cold pork, and the Italian tuna. They do not make a bad one, really, love them all.
It's such a great place. Great food. Thank you so much for watching!!
2hrs 5minutes from me….im on it!! Looks amazing
LOL You go brother!!! Enjoy it! Hope you subscribed! Thank you so much for watching.
I wanna order a platter for the big fight next month … I’m in The Chicago Suburbs
Fuck yeah baby
Those hoagies you showed look delicious. But, I live near AC. Can those compate to The White House in AC on Arctic Ave '46...Rat Pack ate there.
I Love the rolls at White House in AC but trust me brother. Im my opinion their hoagies are not even close to Ricci's. It's subjective of course. Just sayin. I have had both. It's all Ricci's for me. lol
Tuna Hoagies???? That verges on violation territory. LOL The Italian Hogies looked awesome. I can get a great turkey and cheese san anywhere. If I go to Ricci's it's the Italian for me....old school of course.
You never heard of a Tuna Hoagie??
They do a kick ass hoagie of all types
Yeah. Nothing is half ass about Riccis. EVERYTHING is as you say. KICK ASS. Thank you for watching!!!
That looks like an Italian sub sandwich
Philly Hoagies used to resemble that around 40 years ago. They went down hill. Good to see a proper hoagie still alive
Damm good hoagies. Wish they stayed open longer
Hi! Yeah, but then I would be there more and would be 700lbs lol Thanks for watching!
That Italian tuna didn't look like Chicken of the sea. Dang that all looked great. I'll be back in Philly in Nov...
Thank you for watching! I'm tellin you cuz. This place is off the hook! Give them a try.
@@nickylance7951 I always make a trip to Dalessandro's when in Philly and DiNic's when I can.... Gotta add this spot to the list...
❤it
Sorry Philly folks. . .the BEST 'Hoagies' are in PITTSBURGH. . .Pittsburgh (McKees Rocks) has MANCINI BREAD - breadsticks & a plethora of other manifestations - ALL DELICIOUS- also (McKees Rocks) Ricci's Italian sausage, stuffed banana peppers, sauce etc. You name it, they've got it (Abruzzi!!) Great Hoagies, great price Sauce Pot, Coraopolis; also the taste of Abruzzi. Philly, you're bigger, but you've got NOTHIN on the burgh -
Hey, thanks for watching. That's the funniest thing that I ever heard brother. I have been there! They are very good but they are not even close to a Ricci's hoagie. My opinion of course. Have you ever tried a Ricci's Hoagie?
Italian tuna
😏 THEIR NAPKIN'S PROBABLY TASTE BETTER THAN JERSEY MIKE'S.
LOL LOL LOL. I love it!
I work in ER. Food poisoning from restaurant Mayo is number one. Thus, I never order mayo or regular mustard.
Trio cold cuts Woodlyn
Why do the peppers look wet? That’s the key
WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT RICHIE'S IN SOUTH PHILLY I MADE IT MY BUSINESS TO TRY THEM EVEN THOUGH I LIVE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CITY 👀 I TRAVELED THERE ABOUT SIX TIMES SINCE.. A COUPLE OF TIMES I WANTED A SMALL HOAGIE AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY ROLLS, SO I ASKED IF THEY COULD CUT ONE OF THE LONG ONES AND THEY SAID NO. OKAY I CAME THIS FAR TO ME JUST GET A SANDWICH AND MOVE ON. WENT BACK ANOTHER TIME WANTED A SMALL HOAGIE THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE MORAL TO THE STORY IS IF YOU HAVE A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER THAT COMES AND BUYS YOUR PRODUCTS WHY WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO ACCOMMODATE. WELL I'M SURE I WON'T BE AND I'LL BE SAVING A LOT OF GAS THAT WAS MY LAST TIME THERE. I DON'T SPEND MY MONEY ON BAD BUSINESSES 👀
HI! SORRY YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE BUT THANKS FOR WATCHING!
why add the meat like its a taco?
Wanted to see the ham and cheese also is that a small rolls look small to me
No there hoagies are huge, I think he's just a big guy..lol
Talk somewhere else you're blocking the aisle.
The old fashioned all the way
Yeah baby! Thanks for watching !
