Gilbern Invader. I had one. Only car built in Wales. 3.0L Ford Essex V6. Steel spaceframe chassis, GRP body. Rival to the Reliant Scimitar mentioned earlier.
I've owned a 1999 Volvo C70 T5, 1975 Volvo 240, 1975 Scimitar SE5a, 1985 & 1987 TVR 350i, which are all fantastic cars. I've owned over 100 machines! Currently a 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL550. Loved your video.
The Volvo 121 as reliable as an old grandfather clock, will go on for many miles if looked after. I used to work for Volvo back in the 70s and 80s. I have driven a lot of these cars and a a friend has owned 3 of them.
That Hyundai Coupe was mine that I put to the auction - glad you appreciated it! You need to unlock it with the key fob to disable the immobiliser lol. Early Mk1s like this only had 1.6 or 2.0 litre engines, with the limited edition 'F2 Evo' popping out a little more horsepower above the standard spec cars. The 2002 models onwards had the option of the V6 2.7 - I used to have one of those too and they where fun to drive but felt much heavier on the road than the earlier 2.0 models.
Hi, nice Gen 1 Coupe SE, I’ve owned three F2 Evolution models, all in silver and I still have a low mileage one now. They are cool cars and super rare these days, I bought a brand new V plate in 1999 and I’ve currently got a V plate with 50k miles. I love these Coupes, yours looks to be in excellent condition, sad to see it go?
I just got my first "retro classic" a Volvo 480 Celebration Edition. got it for not much and I love it so far. my aim is restoring it fully with some quality of life mods etc.
Middlebridge would have had the 2.8 Ford V6 same as later Capri's not the 3.0L Essex from the earlier Capri and used in the original Reliant Scimitar Se5a
I don't think the Ferrari badge and the prancing horse are original on the Dino. Ferrari made a point at the time of not having any mention of their company associated with the Fiat Dino.
I like every car you showed on here. Just memories of seeing them on the road. And being a Welshman, I’ve seen a few Gilbern’s too. Yes, they were generally Ford engines. I would have bid on all these cars.
Great overview mate, the alarm going off on the Hyundai made me laugh! The OZ wheels on the Lotus are standard for the V8 version. Shame you didn't look at the Porsche 944's as I found the red one very strange, registered as a 1984 but on an F plate!
Great to find your channel and for once a video of Scotland's only classic auction (as far as I know!). I've been going to this auction when I can for years now, and it never fails to come up with something interesting.
The Volvo C70 - I've owned 2 of the T5's ( coupes rather than convertible). Really nice cars, comfortable, smooth automatic gearbox, bit thirsty but you tend to drive on with that lovely engine sound. Probably a nicer shape than the later one, but the later one a bit more refined
Volvo 121 a suitable sportier sibling to the 164. C70 better looking as coupe. Scimitar in that paint, with wheels and headlights, could have been a youthful replacement for the XJS. Gilburn Invader with Triumph 2000 estate rear lights and huge chrome fuel filler cap, 100% eccentric classic British motor.
Morris leslie classic car auction is the most expensive auction prices in the U.K. !!! Buy private is far cheaper and save paying an auction an indemnity charges !!!
That was my esprit v8 I’ve owned for 9 years and these are the standard wheels. And yes verrry fast and solid handling.
ah really! lucky man ! excellent piece of kit!
@@RetroRatchet Not lucky if you're selling.......not enough money & no car. Now it's a "I used to own one of those" car........
Load junk tbh. Apart from lotus.
Gilbern Invader. I had one. Only car built in Wales. 3.0L Ford Essex V6. Steel spaceframe chassis, GRP body. Rival to the Reliant Scimitar mentioned earlier.
Beautiful motors. I've always fancied one. I'm Welsh and it's a bit of a legend for Welsh car guys. That dash is indeed very nice.
Would have been nice to see some of the older lots.
The oldies are the goldies! 👍

I like that Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo 👍, also nice to see some older cars from my past that bring back good memories.
@20:20 that lotus looks the spitting image of the one in amiga game esprit challenge. Including the wheels colour etc
11:28 - Door handles look very similar to the ones on a Morris Marina or Allegro
Those are, Ghia wheels. I've got a Ford sales brochure from that era

were the coupe and sedan both just called 121?

Thanks for the info!
Cheap out the Volvo on on think Hilton avenue Wright across from where the Jim used to be it's been done up.........
I just got my first "retro classic" a Volvo 480 Celebration Edition. got it for not much and I love it so far. my aim is restoring it fully with some quality of life mods etc.
Enjoyed this video, informative & well presented. Maybe use some different adjectives other than 'cool'! 😊
Those V8 Esprits came with the O.Z Saturn alloy wheels as standard.
yep original wheels on the Gilbern, had one back in the day, yep ford 3 litre!..went quite well, but leaked !
What is wrong with 15" wheels on the Volvo. At least the tyres won't blow if you curb them.
Middlebridge would have had the 2.8 Ford V6 same as later Capri's not the 3.0L Essex from the earlier Capri and used in the original Reliant Scimitar Se5a
Some great cars there Chris going for not a lot of money too.
Not so much an auction as a gift shop...
The TVR smells like a project……nicely said!
I don't think the Ferrari badge and the prancing horse are original on the Dino. Ferrari made a point at the time of not having any mention of their company associated with the Fiat Dino.
That Transit looks like a bargain at £1500. Just needs a good wash.

That fiesta st would be a great buy at that price you would never lose money on that. And a great car to drive.
Terry McCain would be proud of that Capri.
Your definitely right about the s classes, the old ones were much better engineered
I have just subscribed. Love the video. I like the 2 Mercedes cars. The Volvos were good to. I like the modern classics then the classic cars.
Had a Volvo T5 Turbo and a 2.3 litre Capri both great cars
Great overview mate, the alarm going off on the Hyundai made me laugh!

I have a 64 volvo amazon 122s. It goes very well. Solid cars, and reliable. A sensible classic car.
What did those bid captions refer to? Is that what they went for or maybe the reserve price?

hi, great your enjoying the content!

Gilbern invader built in Wales

Cheap, affordable Ferrari? I did not think the two terms went together. I actually quite like the Dino GT4.

Great content,thanks from Liverpool
cheers
interesting video ..... i do miss my MK3 2 litre Capri ....
It should be a legal requirement to sit the UK driving test in a Capri
Loving that xjs
I nearly switched off when you said Rover 618 👀
I’ll persevere though .
I had a coupe c70 t5 nice looking car , nice engine
The rest pretty pish
Whoever parks they cars up agents the walls, must carry a pack of skins.

Now that made did make me laugh.
Thanks 🤣
Look like a load of old bangers
I have driven a Volvo cabriolet the turning circle is non existent!

Said no one that knows about Honda.
