They are listened not only by metalheads. Ladies came out of their metal genre and have wider spectrum of fans.
They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal,hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. Obviously they draw a lot from British, German and American metal. All this makes their style unique.

Why did they dress up? Because it is expected in female Japanese metal; because in a culture so obsessed with fashion and looks and externalities as the Japanese, you have to be presentable in some way. Why did they dress up in white dresses? Like Miho said, to distinguish themselves from other bands in the genre. Why do they dress up in a feminine way? Again, Japanese culture.
That they look good to you is because 1) they are all naturally quite attractive--which is incidental, it's coincidence, 2) they dress up, for the above reasons. They did not dress up IN ORDER TO look good for you, or me, or to attract fans by cuteness. Which is what they stated: "We're here to be heavy, not to be cute." That they do look good to you and me is therefore incidental.

LOVEBITES is a five-member all-female, Japanese heavy metal band with deep musicianship (plus classical music/piano background). They transcend gender, genre, and geography, with some 60 songs in their discography. The Japanese ladies are conquering the metal world now
No fluke. The black haired guitarist, Miyako, in her free time is a concert pianist. They're starting their world tour today.
And nobody but themselves "put them on instruments". Quote: "We're not here to be cute. We're here to play metal!"
In Japan, Christian mythology is usually seen as a fantasy universe similar to the Lord of the Rings. Lovebites use a lot of this in their imagery, but they don't describe themselves as a Christian band. There are videos in which they visit Japanese shrines, so it can be assumed that they follow Japanese faith traditions.
Before I forget: they're better live. The real deal. Watch their live version of "Frozen Serenade".
The Frozen Serenade is a masterpiece. Maybe the best they have done.
They have done other that are more metal and more technical challenging.
Maybe the most technically challenging is Soldier Stand Solitarely.
When this song was streamed then the composer (guitarist Miyako) said "sorry" to the drummer Haruna and the singer Asami and they then gave horn on head sign back at her.
They are not a Christian band, but..... most of their songs have positive and/or uplifting themes. I'm usually smiling and energized after their songs! 🤩
As you've seen, they are elite musicians. As good as their music videos are, you really need to see their live videos to fully appreciate the level of musicianship these women possess.

❤️LOVEBITES❤️ was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015.
The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 11 June 2018, LOVEBITES won '🏆BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.
"Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated.
On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry.
LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018.
Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's 'Love Bites', which gave the band their name.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.

Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food

Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. If they are not your thing, then you probably simply don’t like melodic metal, because they are the best at it.
They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD:

Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. I am 63, so I have been listening to rock/metal for over 5 decades. The dual leads of Miyako and Midori are one of the best duos in history, and I consider them the best in history at harmonizing.
This song is the title track of their most recent album. As great as the song is, I would rank it behind at least 3 others on the album - Soldier Stands Solitarily, Dissonance, and Stand and Deliver. I will be seeing them in less than 3 months at ProgPower in Atlanta. A week or so prior to ProgPower, they will be releasing a new 5 track EP.

Unfortunately their record label Victor (of the JVC Kenwood Victor Entertainment - part of a Japanese conglomerate) cares more about their domestic market than their international success. It is a shame that people learn about LB from TH-cam. Victor's online shop does not sell outside Japan and you have to get their music from elswhere

Believe me: the Japanese music market is just as exciting as the rest of the world.
Mainly because they've focused on culture. So there's a lot of young people who gets into music from early on. Either piano, classical, band or koto, shamisen (typical japanese instruments) etc.
From this environment, there has emerged some really really good musicians. Also among the women. And from these some great bands. Like Lovebites, but also Band-Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie, East of eden etc. who all get a lot of praise from Europe and America.
Band-maid - Hate (official live) might be a great next visit? They did btw just have a shared concert with The Warning.

Is this the best they have made? - Its in the top tier no doubt, but I guess its around 25 songs in the upper tier - so there is definitely more bangers to listen to.
Generally it is best to listen to them live. There are some few exceptions. I really love the MV of this one, Stand and deliver and Shadowmaker.
Generally, their live videos have top notch audio quality. But there are some few that is worse.
One example is that, if you shall see the live video of "Holy War" than you shall see the 2020 version in Zepp Diver city. Its a must see BTW.
Also if you shall look at Swan Song, then you shall find the one with Chopin intro. The 2023 one is actually really bad, you cannot hear the piano and the Chopin intro is not there.

They are all tiny! Drummer Haruna is 4'9." vocalist Asami is 4'10," Midori (muscular guitarist, professional bodybuilder) is 4'11." The dark-haired guitarist Miyako and the bassist Fami are the only ones taller than 5," with both at 5'2" (Fami is the taller of the two by just a few millimeters). And yep, they are from Japan! The Japanese female rock and metal scene is out of this world. Several of the female J-rock and J-metal bands play at or near this level, and their average musician can go toe-to-toe with our best any day! LOVEBITES draws a lot of comparisons with Iron Maiden and Helloween (their two biggest influences). Band-Maid get compared to Rush. If you like it even heavier, check out Hanabie and Nemophila.
And then there is Aldious, Fate Gear, Bridear, Trident, Destrose, Mary's blood and Doll$box + More and for the mix gender there are Unlucky Morpheus and Gungire.
And one band that i miss is the Uncrowned their singer died because of cancer. Her name is Shal.

The Japanese Metal and Rock scene is by a country mile the best in the world at the moment - and it's mostly all female bands like Lovebites , Band Maid , Nemophila , East of Eden , Hanabie , Trident , to name only half a dozen of perhaps 20 or so bands that will melt your face off and amaze you . A heads up if you thought this MV was good - bands like Lovebites , Band Maid and Nemophila etc are so much better LIVE !

I don’t want to scare you too much but there is also Band Maid, Nemophila, Asterism, TriDent, Junna, Yoyoka…..but let’s deal with Lovebites first….and no, this is not their best song. All good but try Break Down the Walls, Holy War, Swan Song (with Chopin intro), Frozen Serenade, Empty Daydream, Shadow Maker, then every bloody thing they have recorded, and when you have done that have a listen to Soldier Stands Solitarily (watch along). This might come as a shock but the US is not the world centre of music….especially not in these days.
They are better live also
While Lovebites are absolutely elite-tier in Japanese female metal (or any metal, for that matter), they are not alone in bringing some of the best metal/HR going right now: in metal, there's Nemophila, Hanabie., Bridear, Ark Royal, Doll$Boxx, Hagane, PaleNe0, Aldious, Full Moon, Paradoxx...and on the hard rock side Band-Maid, East of Eden, Whisky Dust, TRiDENT, Nek!, KOIAI (prog-metal meets pop...), etc. I could keep going with dozens more. And there are idol units that are damned heavy: PassCode, Broken by the Scream, Maleficium, Isiliel, and so forth. Not to mention "co-ed" bands with prominent female members: Unlucky Morpheus, Asterism, SheGlapes, Saiseiga... Who'd have thought that Japanese women would flat out lead the way in the heavy music world right now?
There is a bunch more, power/thrash/speed, and plenty of it just plain heavy.
There aren't going to be any duds, they don't have any of those.
Honestly as an asian i didnts listen2 to western us metals anymore,n im a fans of megadeth,metalica,slayer,helloween etc..i listens to Lovebites only these days
Welcome to the world of JRock and JMetal. Japanese bands are the best in the business at this moment regardless of metal genre. From Lovebites, Band-Maid, Maximum the Hormone, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus, D-Drive, etc.

All I can say is that I really love this mind-blowing band. Some people say that they’re the full package. Others say that they’re breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Their live performances are just outstanding. My next recommendations are “Set the world on fire”, “The hammer of wrath”, “Break the wall”, “Thunder vengeance”, “When destinies align”, “Raise some hell”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “Shadowmaker”, “Above the Black Sea”, “Under the red sky” (all live)

Enjoyed the reaction! You'll get a lot of suggestions, but definitely go live for the next one. Many start with "Holy War", or "Hammer of Wrath" for a more recent release of an old song of theirs. Personally, based on your reaction, I'd recommend "Raise Some Hell". You'll see why when you hear the lyrics. And yes, there is a live version of "Judgement Day" if you want to compare live with the MV. Many options, but I'll leave you with this: All female hard rock/heavy metal is currently a trend in Japan. The list is long, but two more of my favorites bands following this trend I'd recommend are Band Maid (more hard rock..... they recently shared the stage with The Warning), and Nemophila (more modern metal).
Your hair is a bit whiter than your wife’s. lol. Mine also, of course I’m missing a lot also. The Warning, Nemophila, and Halestorm are my favorite bands as of this moment.
