Lovebites will be making their US debut in Atlanta at ProgPower 2024. ProgPower is a 4 day (Sept. 4 - 7) single venue festival with 23 bands performing. The venue has a capacity for 1000, with 700 being stadium seating. Lovebites will be performing on Friday evening, and, since they are one of the festival headliners, they will get a full 90 minute set. They are playing right after Soen (great Prog Metal band) and before the metal veterans Amorphis. Tickets for the 3rd and 4th day had to be purchased together and sold out in less than 48 hours. Luckily I purchased my ticket right when they became available. Tickets for day 1 and 2 are still available. My wife and I are making a vacation of it, driving from Texas to Atlanta. Just a little over 3 months to go.

Like you, Band Maid also led me to discover LOVEBITES. While Band Maid are a really good pop rock / hard rock band, LOVEBITES play classic heavy metal - and they do it so freakin' well. As you go through their catalogue, you will hear obvious inspiration from so many legendary metal bands - Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Helloween. LOVEBITES' music has been described as a love letter to the classic metal from the 1980s and early 1990s. And to top it off, they are elite musicians. I reached music heaven when I discovered LOVEBITES a few years ago.

Well, my friend, you’ve just been lovebitten by this mind-blowing metal band. These Japanese women are so talented, skillful and extraordinary musicians. Yes, their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako (M&M) are already legendary, in just seven years. Asami was a R&B, soul and jazz singer before she joined the band. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. Miho (former bassist and founder of the band) once said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. Some people say that they are breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Their live performances are outstanding. My next recommendations are “Set the world on fire”, “Judgement day”, “Thunder vengeance”, “Break the wall”, “Shadowmaker”, “Above the Black Sea”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “The crusade”, “Under the red sky”, “Raise some hell” (all live) By the way, some people dare to say that rock is not dead… it just moved to Japan.

Lovebites are simply a world-class heavy metal band...regardless of place of origin (or gender, etc.). Skilled, charismatic, prolific. And the thing is, they're not alone in their niche (Japanese female metal/hard rock bands). You mentioned Band-Maid (world-class hard rock), and some other Japanese "girl band" HR must-listens include: TRiDENT, Gacharic Spin, Whisky Dust, East of Eden (violin!), Nek!. The metal side of the coin is even deeper. A _very_ limited selection would be: Nemophila, Bridear, Hagane (back after a hiatus, with generational-level shredder Sakura Yoshida and TH-cam drum superstar Junna), Aldious, Ark Royal, Paradoxx, Pale Ne0, Doll$Boxx, and SO many more. Not to mention brilliant "co-ed" bands: Saiseiga, Unlucky Morpheus, Mardelas, SheGlapes... Jump in! I live in Japan, so I get to see some of these bands fairly regularly (despite being clear up north in Sapporo). A common thread is that they are always really good live: very well prepared and rehearsed (that is, not sloppy or half-assed...even the small "newbie" bands approach their craft very professionally), always ready to put on a show and get the audience immersed.

Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about them: The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings. Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. Another great band you should check out, if you haven’t already, is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. Their tiny bassist even growls at key moments. They’re scheduled to release their new album “Born Again” on June 28, and it’s a banger. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. Nice! Lovebites brings an incredible sound to heavy metal. They sound most like Iron Maiden to me, but yes they are very slayer-anthrax-Metallica also.
There's over 50 LoveBites' originals and each one is unique and awesome. There's not one dud in their catalogue and a highly recommend going through most if not all of it. They can range in influence (as in what the remind you of) from Slayer, Testament, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Angra; really a whole mix of many metal genres, but the output is uniquely LoveBites. And I know a lot of people think mentioning other old school bands means you think they copy, but that's not the case. It's actually a huge complement, because it reminds you (at least me) of some great times in my youth. I remember the jaw dropping feeling the 1st time I heard bands like Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Testament, Slayer, Anthrax back in the 80's and that "I just got my azz kicked in a great way and want more!" feeling, or what made you want to learn guitar and work sh*tty jobs just for gear and beers. LoveBites brings all that rushing back, it is what a lot of metal old heads like me (us?) having been missing for years; and the cool part is, its not a bunch of sweaty hairy dudes in leather anymore. These young beautiful ladies are all world class at what they do. The plunge into that LoveBites rabbit hole will definitely be worth it!

Lovebites are a five piece all female Japanese metal band formed in 2016 by Drummer Haruna and Bassist Miho who had been in a previous all female band Destrose which broke up in 2015. Miho, who left Lovebites in 2021 for personal reasons, is a big fan of Steve Harris, the Bass player with Iron Maiden and wanted to create a band with a 'European' sound. They take a lot of influence from British and European musicians and bands from the 1970's and 80's. Lovebites are the first Japanese female metal band to perform at the Wacken festival in Germany and have played festivals around Europe with a great reception including Bloodstock in the UK. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force, during the course of which the 'missing sixth member' made an appearance in the shape of Herman Li in a white dress. Played concerts in China opening for Arch Enemy. They make their North American debut at Atlanta in September this year. The band members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained as a Ballet dancer and was a R&B singer before Lovebites. Writes many of the English lyrics for the band. Midori, Guitar. She is the blond 'Amazon Warrior'. She is also a body builder, and has scored highly in Japanese competitions. Miyako, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. A classically trained pianist, she composes much of the music, often incorporating themes from classical compositions. Both guitarists play lead, and their harmonised solos are a wonder to behold. Haruna, Drums. Nickname 'Little BIG Engine' due to her short statue (1.4 meters, around 4'9") and relentless speed and precision on the drums over concerts of up to near two hours. Fami. Bass Guitar. The 'new girl'. recruited in late 2022 to replace founder Miho. Twenty years old and still at university when she joined Lovebites, this was Fami's first time on stage with the band. The Wolfpack will have many recommendations for further listening, but a few of my favourites include, Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Winds of Transylvania (written for a crazy Japanese Anime series Vlad Love) Swan Song with Chopin piano introduction by Miyako, Edge Of The World, Epilogue. If you liked this song, then I think whatever you choose from them to listen to next, you will not be disappointed. They truly seem unable to write a bad song. They are listened not only by metalheads. Ladies came out of their metal genre and have wider spectrum of fans.
They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal,hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. Obviously they draw a lot from British, German and American metal. All this makes their style unique.

Lovebites will be making their US debut in Atlanta at ProgPower 2024. ProgPower is a 4 day (Sept. 4 - 7) single venue festival with 23 bands performing. The venue has a capacity for 1000, with 700 being stadium seating. Lovebites will be performing on Friday evening, and, since they are one of the festival headliners, they will get a full 90 minute set. They are playing right after Soen (great Prog Metal band) and before the metal veterans Amorphis. Tickets for the 3rd and 4th day had to be purchased together and sold out in less than 48 hours. Luckily I purchased my ticket right when they became available. Tickets for day 1 and 2 are still available. My wife and I are making a vacation of it, driving from Texas to Atlanta. Just a little over 3 months to go.

@@johnhammond4214 Unfortunately, I doubt that any of the 4 days will be livestreamed. BTW, I have no idea if you are in the US, but Lovebites just announced 3 US shows after ProgPower in Dallas, LA and San Francisco. All the venues are very small so tickets will go fast once on sale.

Like you, Band Maid also led me to discover LOVEBITES. While Band Maid are a really good pop rock / hard rock band, LOVEBITES play classic heavy metal - and they do it so freakin' well. As you go through their catalogue, you will hear obvious inspiration from so many legendary metal bands - Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Helloween. LOVEBITES' music has been described as a love letter to the classic metal from the 1980s and early 1990s. And to top it off, they are elite musicians. I reached music heaven when I discovered LOVEBITES a few years ago.

Well, my friend, you’ve just been lovebitten by this mind-blowing metal band. These Japanese women are so talented, skillful and extraordinary musicians. Yes, their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako (M&M) are already legendary, in just seven years. Asami was a R&B, soul and jazz singer before she joined the band. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. Miho (former bassist and founder of the band) once said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. Some people say that they are breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Their live performances are outstanding. My next recommendations are “Set the world on fire”, “Judgement day”, “Thunder vengeance”, “Break the wall”, “Shadowmaker”, “Above the Black Sea”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “The crusade”, “Under the red sky”, “Raise some hell” (all live)

Lovebites are simply a world-class heavy metal band...regardless of place of origin (or gender, etc.). Skilled, charismatic, prolific. And the thing is, they're not alone in their niche (Japanese female metal/hard rock bands). You mentioned Band-Maid (world-class hard rock), and some other Japanese "girl band" HR must-listens include: TRiDENT, Gacharic Spin, Whisky Dust, East of Eden (violin!), Nek!. The metal side of the coin is even deeper. A _very_ limited selection would be: Nemophila, Bridear, Hagane (back after a hiatus, with generational-level shredder Sakura Yoshida and TH-cam drum superstar Junna), Aldious, Ark Royal, Paradoxx, Pale Ne0, Doll$Boxx, and SO many more. Not to mention brilliant "co-ed" bands: Saiseiga, Unlucky Morpheus, Mardelas, SheGlapes... Jump in!
I live in Japan, so I get to see some of these bands fairly regularly (despite being clear up north in Sapporo). A common thread is that they are always really good live: very well prepared and rehearsed (that is, not sloppy or half-assed...even the small "newbie" bands approach their craft very professionally), always ready to put on a show and get the audience immersed.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.
This year in June LOVEBITES‘ first world tour starts in Europe. In September they will play their biggest headline show ever in Tokyo. After that LOVEBITES will have their US debut …

Slayer, Testament, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc are all influences that are blended together in many of their songs. Petite musicians who in gowns and heels turn into Metal Goddesses on stage where LIVE they thrive. Band Maid along with the Warning are 2 wicked Hard Rocker but Lovebites is the tip of the Metal scene in Japan where Metal, Rock and Jazz have gone to thrive and the level of insane talent is on full display. They are a breath of positivity and joy, combined with beauty and elegance. Asami is the best vocalist I've seen in a long time, plus she's gorgeous.
congratulations on digging further into the Japanese metal rabbit hole. Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out, if you haven’t already, is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. Their tiny bassist even growls at key moments.

Nice! Lovebites brings an incredible sound to heavy metal. They sound most like Iron Maiden to me, but yes they are very slayer-anthrax-Metallica also.
There's over 50 LoveBites' originals and each one is unique and awesome. There's not one dud in their catalogue and a highly recommend going through most if not all of it. They can range in influence (as in what the remind you of) from Slayer, Testament, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Angra; really a whole mix of many metal genres, but the output is uniquely LoveBites. And I know a lot of people think mentioning other old school bands means you think they copy, but that's not the case. It's actually a huge complement, because it reminds you (at least me) of some great times in my youth. I remember the jaw dropping feeling the 1st time I heard bands like Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Testament, Slayer, Anthrax back in the 80's and that "I just got my azz kicked in a great way and want more!" feeling, or what made you want to learn guitar and work sh*tty jobs just for gear and beers. LoveBites brings all that rushing back, it is what a lot of metal old heads like me (us?) having been missing for years; and the cool part is, its not a bunch of sweaty hairy dudes in leather anymore. These young beautiful ladies are all world class at what they do. The plunge into that LoveBites rabbit hole will definitely be worth it!

Lovebites are a five piece all female Japanese metal band formed in 2016 by Drummer Haruna and Bassist Miho who had been in a previous all female band Destrose which broke up in 2015. Miho, who left Lovebites in 2021 for personal reasons, is a big fan of Steve Harris, the Bass player with Iron Maiden and wanted to create a band with a 'European' sound. They take a lot of influence from British and European musicians and bands from the 1970's and 80's. Lovebites are the first Japanese female metal band to perform at the Wacken festival in Germany and have played festivals around Europe with a great reception including Bloodstock in the UK. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force, during the course of which the 'missing sixth member' made an appearance in the shape of Herman Li in a white dress. Played concerts in China opening for Arch Enemy. They make their North American debut at Atlanta in September this year.
The band members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained as a Ballet dancer and was a R&B singer before Lovebites. Writes many of the English lyrics for the band.
Midori, Guitar. She is the blond 'Amazon Warrior'. She is also a body builder, and has scored highly in Japanese competitions.
Miyako, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. A classically trained pianist, she composes much of the music, often incorporating themes from classical compositions.
Both guitarists play lead, and their harmonised solos are a wonder to behold.
Haruna, Drums. Nickname 'Little BIG Engine' due to her short statue (1.4 meters, around 4'9") and relentless speed and precision on the drums over concerts of up to near two hours.
Fami. Bass Guitar. The 'new girl'. recruited in late 2022 to replace founder Miho. Twenty years old and still at university when she joined Lovebites, this was Fami's first time on stage with the band.
The Wolfpack will have many recommendations for further listening, but a few of my favourites include, Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Winds of Transylvania (written for a crazy Japanese Anime series Vlad Love) Swan Song with Chopin piano introduction by Miyako, Edge Of The World, Epilogue. If you liked this song, then I think whatever you choose from them to listen to next, you will not be disappointed. They truly seem unable to write a bad song. In my opinion one of the best bands I have heard in sixty years listening to rock and metal. I'm going to see them play in London on 14th June.

Good reaction. They actually got the most influences from Iron Maiden, then Mtallica and J-Priest. You are influenced by testament (small letters). LOVEBITES are Genuinely original. Miyako is musical genius, she is full of feelings while playing. You should research Miyako and Lovebites first to know what you are dealing with.
