Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Minions, I took my girlfriend and her little sis to see this, And despite the fact that the cinema was half full, The cinema was dead silent all throughout the movie. (which kinda surprised me) until one guy yelled out "Even Equestria Girls is better than this". Which proceeded to me and my girlfriend dying of laughter. (Sidenote. Both me and her are members of the herd and we honestly do like both EG movies, despite the first ones' flaws, but hey, it was a good zinger.)
I used to like the minions. I wasn't obsessed with them, nor did I think they were cute. I just really liked how comical they were. They made me laugh every time they appeared on screen,and that's saying a lot, because its very hard to make me laugh aloud or smile. Too bad this movie ruined them for me...now all I can see is annoying little yellow blobs.
I'm kinda mad that this film stole Inside Out's glory, Inside Out was closing into 500 million at the box office, Minions came in and took out all the competition, I shouldn't be too surprised that this happened, I'm just... frustrated.
Inside Out and The Peanuts Movie should have both been the highest grossing animated movies that year. They're more memorable and I just like them much more.

Minions exists solely to make money, which shows in every aspect of its lazy production. I personally really liked the Penguins movie, but he's treating his negative opinion on the movie like it's a fact, and that everyone hates it. Why couldn't he do a minion pun or something? Or mabye make fun of something thats more widly hated like Planet Sheen. At least less people would be annoyed by that.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I like the Penguins movie as well. Sure the plot is kind of silly but at least it has likable (and coherent) characters, well-animated action scenes, cute characters designs and just enough emotional depth balance the humor. I just love the Penguins of Madagascar in general: they're very clever and well-written. Whereas these annoying yellow demons are just the shiny keys that you use to distract a toddler. And I agree that Animat speaks like his opinion is fact. I'm sure it's not his intention but he often comes off as quite pretentious. That's not to say I don't enjoy or agree with some of his reviews, but this certainly isn't one of them.

I really really really hated Minions. I loved Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 but Minions was like watching a very long drawn out Looney Toons cartoon and I never cared much for Looney Toons, slapstick or silent humor.
This movie sucks in my opinion and here's why: The Nelson family made me so uncomfortable. They were very poorly animated. The Dad and son looked unnatural and ugly. Then they actually rob a bank using realistic firearms and get away with it! In the first two films, the crime was always really goofy, like stealing a pyramid, an entire laboratory, or the moon. It never felt too real and this felt so wrong. Scarlet's husband Herb was EXTREMELY annoying. He was like the Onceler from the Lorax movie, but more painful to watch. The humor wasn't that funny. Most of the best jokes were spoiled in the trailers along with a lot of the plot. There was zero emotional depth, heart, or character development. And on top of that there were several obvious sexual innuendos. Overall this movie was stupid and boring. The first to films were great and this was just a huge disappointment. 20/50

I watched this movie on Netflix yesterday. I was able to sit through it without getting bored, but the whole thing was just okay, average, so-so. I could see how all the jokes were meant to be funny, and in a way, they were, but this just wasn't the laugh out loud comedy I expected. I only giggled a couple of times. And I found the plot to be cliche and predictable. I in no way hate the movie. Not at all! It's just that it's so average and indistinct that I wouldn't choose to watch it again, unless I was choosing being Minions and something like, say, Foodfight!
I saw this with my sister last Tuesday and we both got a good laugh out of this film. I give it a 4/5 because I too found the plot to be a bit predictable. Nonetheless, I would give it a watch again ^_^
My only major complaint about 'Minions' is that they could have and should have shown more of the Minions' past masters throughout history. I think they originally did, in fact, but they may have gotten cut: 1. I heard from someone who saw a preview of it a year ago that there may have been a scene with them working for Genghis Khan. 2. There was a scene in the trailer but not in the final movie of the Minions working for some medieval king, and accidentally causing him to be impaled by his own sword. 3. In the movie merchandise, there's an action figure of a Minion dressed as a pirate. That could have made for an awesome segment in the film, the Minions working for Blackbeard and accidentally doing him in with swords or cannons or a shark or something.

I hoped that the story would focus more on the minions got to know Despicable, unlike what we got. But most likely we will see a story which focuses on how Despicable became this super villain.
I enjoy the 1st two movie because the first two had a great plot and characters that know how to bounce from emotion to another. For me the minions are just filler and should only be on screen for a short time unless someone could do something better than this film. I talked with my nephew about wanting to see The minions or Inside Out and said he rather watch the minions because their "funny." If Hollywood would actually cared about making animated films much more likable than we would not have the "Spin-Off" disease.

In theory, this film feels like a cash grab. But I’ll give the film this. They tried to make the most of it and it turned out decent at best and run of the mill bad at worst. The minions worked fine in the first two Despicable Me films. But giving them the role of lead character is questionable. They try to give the three main minions some character like Kevin being the determined leader, Bob being the ditzy clutz, and Stuart…honestly, I don’t know what he was suppose to be. The humor is very hit or miss and when they miss it can be embarrassing. The animation is pretty impressive though and I especially love Scarlet Overkill in this film. It does feel like a commercial when you think about. But, eh, it could be worse. 5/10
I thought it was the funniest cartoon of the year but the minions can get annoying though as they talk gibberish. To be honest I am such a huge fan of Sandra Bullock but her as a villian she is too good to be a bad chick.

I saw minions and it was ok the writing was pretty sloppy and predictable and there wasn't much about some characters like Kevin bob Stuart and Scarlett overkill I'd give it a 6.5/10(or7/10)

I love the first 2 despicable me and thought the 3rd one was decent, though i really don't like this movie. If the Minions are the only main characters involved, it makes the expireince repeative and with no dialogue you most likely whould'nt get invested, thank god the 2nd actually got creative with it's ideas and a more diversive plot, not to mention its Gru's origin, something i wanted since the first movie came out.

My only major complaint about 'Minions' is that they could have and should have shown more of the Minions' past masters throughout history. I think they originally did, in fact, but they may have gotten cut:
1. I heard from someone who saw a preview of it a year ago that there may have been a scene with them working for Genghis Khan.
2. There was a scene in the trailer but not in the final movie of the Minions working for some medieval king, and accidentally causing him to be impaled by his own sword.
3. In the movie merchandise, there's an action figure of a Minion dressed as a pirate. That could have made for an awesome segment in the film, the Minions working for Blackbeard and accidentally doing him in with swords or cannons or a shark or something.

I enjoy the 1st two movie because the first two had a great plot and characters that know how to bounce from emotion to another. For me the minions are just filler and should only be on screen for a short time unless someone could do something better than this film. I talked with my nephew about wanting to see The minions or Inside Out and said he rather watch the minions because their "funny." If Hollywood would actually cared about making animated films much more likable than we would not have the "Spin-Off" disease.

At least the title of "Highest grossing animated film" is in the hands of an ACTUALLY GOOD movie, (Or at least bearable to sit through for most) being Frozen, instead of this cash grabbing trash. Still, can't believe it's in the number two spot.
In theory, this film feels like a cash grab. But I’ll give the film this. They tried to make the most of it and it turned out decent at best and run of the mill bad at worst. The minions worked fine in the first two Despicable Me films. But giving them the role of lead character is questionable. They try to give the three main minions some character like Kevin being the determined leader, Bob being the ditzy clutz, and Stuart…honestly, I don’t know what he was suppose to be. The humor is very hit or miss and when they miss it can be embarrassing. The animation is pretty impressive though and I especially love Scarlet Overkill in this film. It does feel like a commercial when you think about. But, eh, it could be worse.

I love the first 2 despicable me and thought the 3rd one was decent, though i really don't like this movie.
If the Minions are the only main characters involved, it makes the expireince repeative and with no dialogue you most likely whould'nt get invested, thank god the 2nd actually got creative with it's ideas and a more diversive plot, not to mention its Gru's origin, something i wanted since the first movie came out.
