Ciao Luciano. I REALLY admire this.Just the way it should be played instead of the ruched, non-phrased way most guitarists play it! Brilliant and very musically. Congratulations! Per-Olov
I've viewed your 3 videos... HOW WONDERFUL, even though I could not express what might be the very point that makes your play something special... anyway I love them, and feel that one of the most contemporary bach's play ever ;-) I believe that Bach may love your play if he lives in this modern progressive world.
Absolutely fabulous! Too bad videographers have to insist on trying to be so artsy. Here they missed showing some of the most spectacular passages focusing on the player’s face. Also missed intricate moments in each hand while focusing on the opposite hand. Nice, but EVERYONE, especially other players, want to see THE HANDS throughout the performance. Please just park yourself close-up in one spot and document the performance. Makes me crazy and almost all videographers have this ‘creativity disease’ especially for some reason with guitarists. That said, BRAVO to a magnificent performance of this beautiful and challenging composition! ❤❤❤. Loved it!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy my playing! I kind of agree with your blames on the videographer, which actually have been me...You're right, the face close-ups are not good at all, but it was my first experience with producing a video, I hope you'll bear with me...;-)
Wonderful performance, if only you had included all three parts (prelude-fuge-allegro) of this glorious piece by Bach in one clip. Robert Hill's performance of this piece on the lute-harpsichord is also among the best.
This has always been one of my favorite lute pieces, it's incredibly hard in the D minor tuning in any key (I tried it in F) but sounds great on this instrument as well and excellent playing, I know how difficult this is to play cleanly. I also have a single strung mandora that sounds a bit like your lute, but mainly intended for 'new' lute music. You can hear the instrument by clicking on my icon.
Sorry if I don't answer to each single comment, but I ensure you that your feedback give me a great feeling, strength and inspiration, sincerely. Thank a lot to you all.
I completely agree with lachi, i understand what he's talking about and i love that kind of sound too, even if i don't make it strictly a metter of "that kind of music" ;P
@drinal100 Grazie! Many times the second part is longer than the first and presents a reprise, so that the last cadence sounds very 'ending' and can lead you not to repeat the second part.
I've been looking for a good version of this for years. ....and now I've found one. I used to have a great version on vinyl by a Swiss lautenist who's name I can't remember. It was recorded in the 70's I believe. Would anyone know his name?
@GuitaristaDeFlamenco Thanks very much for your kind posting. I can ensure you, that the sound I got is just what I was looking for, it fits to my idea of this music. Maybe if you look at these two videos you can better understand what I mean: Maria Rita Menina da lua Pavarotti Nessun dorma two very different musical situation, each with its adequate 'sound' ;-)
Great performance! How can i acquire a lute like this? I am interested in these lutes that are not double stringed. Any information on this will be much appreciated!
I love this piece and performance but is it easier or harder to play this one the lute than the guitar? I'm just wondering since most of the bass notes are open on the lute whereas the bass notes move with the guitar.
@lachi1905, I'm not completely sure... but 97% sure that this has been green screened. It is pretty well done, but when you look closely... you can tell. i used to be a video/effects editor... i have a good eye for such things. :D
Brilliant! Only 1 thing to say though. I think your nails should be filed so that when the nail touches the string it would do it in straight angle. That would remove the extra sound of "screech" or "scratch" that I can hear pretty distinctively. So this would lead to a more pure sound ;) Not that your playing is technically bad, it is brillian in my opinion ^^ ps. the "screech" is not THAT bad but still wanted to say :D
I wouldn't have cared but since I commented I looked down and seen some pointless talk over whether or not this is "green screened", oh brother, well anyway now you all made me notice that at the end he faded out slightly before the background did, so I guess old ziroland can be sure of one thing now!
@dontbannme2540 THAT is a great comment! :-) Yes, George has been already told several times that he looks like me...Well, actually there is a strong connection between me and Clooney: I come from the same town as his ex girlfriend Elisabetta...
It's a modern version of the Baroque lute. Actually one of the more modest ones; some have more courses, and in the archlutes, the neck can be almost as long as that of a theorbo, or just kind of complicated. Anyway, modest or not, they cost an arm, a leg and both buttcheeks. :D
i'm not completely sure.... but i think this is green screened!!!!! the background is not really there..... it seems it was shot with a green screen in the back and the church background is a composite layer. ? hmmmm?

The best! Simply... the best. Amazing musicality - effortless technique.
That's the best compliment a continuo lute player can achieve! Grazie di cuore.
Astounded by your fantastic, clear and soulful performance. Thanks for sharing.
i love the lute's sounds! it's beautiful and i don't have words for explain it, I just know that bach's songs is amazing!
I never comment, but this performance deserves my deep thanks and congratulations.

Great technique of Right hand & great interpretation.
...E c'è chi ASCOLTANDO QUESTA MUSICA, SUONATA A QUESTO MODO......pensa agli sfondi.................CI PERDONI, MAESTRO........
The hats off for the video editor. Clearly this man has added reverb and green-screen inserted himself into a church.
Super. Thanks for making this fine music available here.
Esto es bello, realmente bello ....
Amazing to listen tooo......when your drunk and wishing you could play like that.....fantastic, 5 stars......all the the best friend
Beautiful in every musical way. Thanks for sharing!
The best since Jos van Imerseel's very loose recording from the '70s.
This is a triumph. I am in utter disbelief.

This is really beautifull interpretation, thank a lot)
one simple word: perfectioN!
Sounds wonderful to me.
This is insanely difficult, I play it on the classical guitar - it's so tiring, very hard work.
Bravo!

Awesome!
The fact that you are not completely sure means that, if it is green screened, it is well done… ;-)
Great performance!

This is how to make a wannabe-suicider back to life in 3,5 minutes.

Green screen? Regardless, love the playing.
Just a question: how do you know it's not blue screened? Why are you sure it's green? ;-) Ok, it's green, you're right...
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Trying to scare off all the would-b muggers with real music, which would drive them out of their brainless heads! HA!!! Good one!
***** No, stava registrando in casa. Ma che chiacchiere cretine! Dovreste piuttosto concentrarvi sulla musica e basta. Non e' difficile.
Chiara, don't be so literal, or so rude. He was joking. (I do think he's right about the green screen, though.)
@Ah4b ?? of course; it's a single strung arciliuto in a

What kind of lute is this? I have only played a 7 course and an 8 course..

Luciano Bach interpret music from Johan Sebastian Contini!!!!!!
Jajaja es falso, está a cámara rapida.
It's false, is a fast camera.
that is not a lute!
