@VSN-wb2ly Kuro Games never changed it in PGR I doubt they'd do so here, they know its a selling point to the game and while yes it means making less than Genshin it means a more loyal player base. WuWa is popular because it csnt get away with what Genshin does to it's player base. So many genshin players sunk in the cost sink fallacy, WuWa don't got that

There is no 50/50 on weapons banners. Once you hit a 5 star, you get that weapon (including limited weapon banners). The standard banner splits the characters and weapons as well. For standard char banner, there's 5 chars (1/5). For standard weapon banner, you get to CHOOSE which weapon you're aiming for, and will get it once you hit the 5 star. There's also a currency you obtain for pulling that can be used for extra pulls, 4 stars, etc, but you can also get LIMITED char dupes within the time of the banner. You can literally save, pull a limited 5 star, and have C2 / E2. There's also 2 copies of all the standard 5 stars, so that a free C2/E2 over time if you really like one of them.
We also get a novice banner, discounted 10 pulls (costs 8) and a 5 star standard char within 50 pulls. Then it turns into a choice banner, select a 5 star standard char to aim for, within 80 pulls. And we got a 5 star standard char selector ticket that doesn't expire for a year, for free.

Weapon banner is not a trap in this game at all.
F2P are actually better off using their standard pulls on the standard weapons banner, given that after a few days playing, you should already have 3 different standard 5 star characters, and you're able to select 2 of them.

    • @nekochen

I feel pity for the people who never played Genshin and found WuWa to be unique, because they don't understand the concept of deception behind standard banner. Ask ANY Genshin player if standard banner is actually worth something, and I can guarantee you 120% all answers will be no. You will be getting characters from the standard banner when you lose 50/50 in any featured banner, so spending astrite to pull on those banner is the dumbest thing you can ever do in this game. Kuro giving 5-star selector of standard character and green summon orbs says it all. Go take a look at Honkai Star Rail, that game not only gives frequent premium 10+ pulls (yellow orbs) every patch, they also give out featured banner 5-star character for free (Dr. Ratio). Now that's being generous, instead of this deception you're all licking thinking it's true.

Another thing this is a post-apocalyptic world which has happened quite recently. This comparison is apples to oranges. The reason GI is more vibrant is because it's a vibrant world that has ALREADY recovered from the cataclysm. Wuthering waves is still on that phase of recovering.
Wuthering is more akin to Nier Automata in the world somewhat, the difference is Nier's world is already a destroyed world, while Wuthering is still on the brink of being saved. Also we're still early in the game, we'll see more variety of map aesthetics in the future. You can trust Kuro in that department.

Powercreep will alwyas be a thing, it might be like in genshin where every character will always be able to clear endgame content. But the newer characters will have to get better over time since they cant keep making unique characters all the time. Like calcharo is just the worse version of changli yao. And shorekeeper is better then verina and baizhi. Then all are still usable and good but there are better options if u want an easy time

  • @foxianjade

Touching on the powercreep: Some have been saying that powercreep won’t be too much of an issue because it’s more about skill than just your normal brute forcing. So, if you want to keep playing with your main, then you don’t really need to swap to a new character c: Although some bosses do have resistance to some elements, so keep that in mind
Also, I know it’s just a preference thing, but I really like the "dull" colors and they don’t look that boring. While I’m used to the bright colors in Genshin, the dull colors are easier on the eyes and blends well with brighter colors. You can’t tell me there aren’t any bright colors in WuWa (not saying shark said that, just saying in general), and if you do say that then you haven’t seen enough of the world lol. I think the coolest area where it’s super dull is Dim Forest with all the toxic fog (if you hadn’t cleared it yet via a quest). Then there’s the Sea of Flames. The red is actually really pretty. I will admit that I like hoyo music a bit better though. I like the subtle music outside of battle in WuWa, but I wish it was a bit more.
Also, you didn’t mention that you *and* the co-op person can get the echoes that drop at the same time. So if you want to *really* grind out your data bank, do so with a friend. I personally won’t be doing this, but I think that’s a redeeming factor for co-op

i agree a lot with what you're saying for sure BUT a few things that i think are worth mentioning:
(note: i absolutely love genshin and don't plan on quitting anytime soon)
-in WW you can actually farm specific boss echos (artifacts) until the end of time without needing to use a single waveplate. meanwhile you HAVE to use resin in order to have a chance to maybe get a single piece of the specific set that you want. yes, sometimes it drops, sometimes it doesn't in WW, but at least you know that when it does, you're definitely getting that Thundering Mephis or Crownless or whatever. of course, you still need to hope and pray that you get the specific main stat that you want but in Genshin you also have to deal with the other stuff.
-storywise i don't think it's fair to compare a game that literally just started with a game that has had several updates with brand new story lines. Kuro has essentially just released the tutorial with some heavier story as you get near the end but hoyo did that too. honestly i can't even imagine only having mondstadt to explore. meanwhile, WW has a nice range of biomes/environments.
-the sound design and soundtrack far surpass genshin so far imo. I've never felt the soundtrack to be repetitive the way that i often feel about genshin. in WW you don't even notice that the music has looped in my experience. I've definitely preferred the music in WW so far imo. then there's BIRDS and other background sounds that actually make the setting feel real. that's been a joy for me.
-I'm not personally a lore skipper but if someone doesn't care about the story, it's fully skippable.
-Kuro has ACTUALLY been listening to community feedback and within a week they've released several updates (not just hotfixes which have also been abundant).
overall i think the game itself has had a really solid start (though it has been riddled with bugs and lacks controller support for mobile; tho that's definitely coming soon). give it a few years and i think it'll be a totally unrecognizable game to what we have today with a really engaging story to boot.
    definitely recommend.

I think something that people keep forgetting when comparing these games is that one has been out since 2020 and one just came out. It's difficult to recall exactly how Genshin was on release sometimes but they have improved many things since 2020 and I'm sure WW will do the same
As far as the story goes I found the Genshin story pretty bland for awhile, so seeing as this is only the first release and Genshin's story didn't get good for me for at least a few patches, I'd give WW some more time to cook in that department. Plus I think part 5 and 6 of the story are already far better than how the story starts out. So there are signs of improvement
Overall Genshin itself is the only "Genshin Killer" and frankly I enjoy Genshin a good amount so I wouldn't want it to be killed. But I do want WW to succeed as more competition is great for both games. I'll still try to play WW (no pc and ps5 release date is still tbd) on my phone but touch controls are rough and I can only play for so long before bowing out (same thing with Genshin honestly, can't stand playing it on mobile). Love the combat and see a lot of potential with it though so WW will be a main game for me as soon as they release ps5 or controller support for mobile

      2) also the echo leveling system sucks. U gotta lvl that sht up just so u can tune it. Instead of genshin where u only need to lvl it to lvl 4 to see if its worth the investment.
      3) how tf can u guys think that just cuz u can "infinity" farm it (which u cant) make it better? Like is time not a resource to u? I dont mean anything bad when i say this but, u gotta either be jobless or a child to have that much free time to be grinding mindlessly on a gacha game.
4)the story is a mess. Literally in the 5th act where they did that avengers sht, why tf did they put a child with medicinal knowledge and a lion dancer in the damn front lines. It just looks goofy. Also where tf did that blue old guy come from? He just joined us in the super hero landing. He didnt get a proper introduction at all ( just because he gave a line abt how the magistrate called him earlier doesnt make it and introduction.)

Comparisons of gacha rates are always tricky. Is 4% drop rate better than 0.4%? Out of context yes, but if you get 10 pulls per month in in the first case and 100 pulls per month in second case, it evens out with the other being actually slightly better. And that's still omitting whole list of factors, such as what value you actually get if you're successful, how long will the character/weapon last before you need to replace it with something better or how much fun you're actually going to have playing it.

Excuse me, how is 240 "pretty much equal" to 200?
And personally, I don't agree with the part about co-op at all. It might me my bias because I prefer Jianxin who is pretty self-sufficient, but playing co-op in WuWa has been much more enjoyable so far. For me, yeah. But I'm also happy that there's no elemental resonance like in Genshin.
And btw, did I miss a part about WuWa having an amazing quality of life features that Genshin can only dream of? Skip Button? Wall running? Grapple? Did I really miss everything I just said being mentioned in the video? :) The part about graphics is rich. It's "cartoon fairy tale world" vs "post-apocalyptic world". And oh how I wish there was a word or two about 50+ types of enemies in WuWa 1.0 versus Hilichurl variants and boars in Genshin 1.0, too. :)
Important part that wasn't mention is system requirements for playing. This is why some feel like playing Genshin again, I'd bet.
As for me, I deleted Genshin finally. :') Cheers~

he's a genshin sh1ll so yeah. this has been the most frustrating "comparison" I've watched because he'd almost always make an excuse to make genshin look better. the gacha comparison where he said it's "pretty much the same" and the non mention of world exploration is what gave it away.

240 and 200 in this case are almost the same, bosses and tacet fields in wuwa cost 60 energy so you can do 4 runs of those a day however they on average give a little more then in genshin. In genshin they cost 40 so you can do 5 runs a day. So they are almost exactly the same in both games. In hsr its the best as they have 240 energy and bosses and relic domains cost 40 making for 6 runs a day.

first of all, as I don't speak English well, I used Google translate, so if there are any strange turns of phrase, sorry in advance.
a bit of bad times in your list. Points 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 15 are due to different game systems.
These are desired constraints. it's also bad faith, that the people who made the comparison of tof and genshin and said tof has mounts so it better, one of the games was designed for mounts and the other was not, that's all. you said that you need to pull kazuha to benefit from your movement, and well that's precisely what allows certain characters to express themselves because it offers movement possibilities that are not available. the same when the game decides to add a mechanic temporarily or in a certain area that improves movement.
take for example world of warcraft (classic) the fact that movement is slow at the beginning, that certain classes have movement advantages. and later you unlock the mount.
for point 6. I don't really know how grinding will work in Wuthering Waves, but if the game wants to keep the players busy it has to have one, if the echoes are infinitely farmable in the open world , there is necessarily something to counterbalance.
for your point 7. the detector is supposed to be a reward after you have already explored normally, not the given directly. I don't see how it would make the game more fun to have it from the start. even the opposite would cause exploration to lose value.
for point 11. what's the problem with that? plus there aren't that many areas restricted by history.
for point 12. at the beginning when you said only 2 bosses I thought you were talking about the World Bosses (dvalin and andros) but since you added the term "copy paste" I imagine that you are talking about the hypostasis and flower (im not sure if it called like this in english)? even there they have different patterns. and otherwise there's a pretty good variety of bosses in genshin. so I don't agree.
for point 16. I have a doubt if you are talking about normal swimming or underwater. if underwater I find it ok. if the normal is consistent with the fact that it is supposed to be an exploration constraint.
for the 17th, well there's the "local legend" system (still not sure if it's called that in English) of fountain now. Afterwards it's not a game that emphasizes challenging combat.

@@Erloys6007 so you mentioned mount in wow, where is it in genshin now. It is true that you need to pull specific character to gain movement superiority in genshin. And why you need to defend it as game constraint when you can pull characters to enable it? Lack of system is called inferior design, not game constraint. For 6 , there is counterbalance about leveling up the artifacts, but it wont take months to obtain a pyro cup in witch set. For 7, why? a detector is a good thing to explore the world , not wasting you time. For 11, it is openworld, you cant justify a air wall without any reason. You can use object to block the way, but not air wall and tell you to return. For 12, can you play wuwa just a minute? Such absurd reply means that you have never played the game. For 16, you will drown easily in genshin and there are daily quest in Liyue beach which you will have to use normal speed to swim or you will get drown. .. "so you mentioned mount in wow, where is it in genshin nowt"
so to repeat what I said in the message where I talked about wow and mount, since you haven't read it. I was talking about the fact that we don't add a system just to add it, but that we plan a gaming experience for this system. Take Tower of Fantasy for example, it has mounts, not at all pleasant to use.
"It is true that you need to pull specific character to gain movement superiority in genshin."
it's the whole idea of a gacha to make the experience vary between players. so yes some characters can do unique things,
"Lack of system is called inferior design, not gaming constraint"
dude you're talking about something that wouldn't make sense of genshin.
"dodge in the air", "change characters in the air" "double jump" do you realize that it's not at all the same type of gameplay?
I feel like I'm seeing the same type of debate that Wow and Tera had about targeting vs dynamic gameplay. genre it's 2 different genres there's not one better than the other, just preferences.
"For 7, why? A detector is good for exploring the world without wasting time"
yes and the game gives you once you already have a first part of the exploration that you can do without, because the game is planned that way. puzzles and chests are positioned so that you can chain them together and guide you to other puzzle areas. and that's why you get it later, it's the same for a lot of games like this. I don't see why it's hard to understand what I'm saying...
“12, can you play wuwa for just a minute? Such an absurd answer means you have never played this game”
I can't, maybe if it comes out on console, but since I only answered on the genshin side I don't see why my answer is bad, I maintain the fact that the bosses are varied in genshin.
"For 16 you will drown easily in genshin and there are daily quests on Liyue beach where you will have to use normal speed to swim otherwise you will drown. Such a bad experience is justified?"
are you talking about the quest with the bruto camp on the water? if you start from the edge of the coast you reach it even by “sprinting” while swimming
"For 17, we are making a comparison and you call A is better than B because A has more things to do than B. All of your replies shows that you have never played the game. If you have not played the game, your words means nothing."
I never said that A is better than B. I'm just responding to your list because I found quite a few points where I don't agree. I haven't played wuthering waves yet I'm just interested and waiting to see if the game comes out on console to test it.

Good review. I'd say at their core WW and Genshin is basically the same game with some key differences:
    1. Combat. Genshin's combat is more about elemental reactions, and WW is more about combos/skill/outros/etc.
    2. I think WW has more QOL like sipping cutscenes, but I also think WW has the better "resin" system at 240, and it refills every 24 hours.
    3. Genshin's story is told way better. In Gennshin, it's one thing at a time, and introductions to characters that lets you get to know them. In WW it's just a blast of sci-fi terms: the Lament, Tacit Discords (or heartless as I call them), Resonators, blah, blah, blah.... I'm skipping whole cutscenes because I don't find it interesting or easy to follow.
    4. Genshin has the better music IMO - but it's hard to match.
    5. I think WW's open world actually feels more meaningful and a little more challenging, whereas Genshin's open world feels fun to explore but combat is basically a joke outside of bosses/legends.
I'm nowhere near end-game in WW, so I cannot comment much more. I don't love Genshin's Abyss (although I can clear), but I love building and testing characters in new teams. I'm looking forward to that in WW (when I get there).
Now, if only Jiyan would come home... of course losing the 50/50 and getting Verina would be nice... and then I have more pity for Yinlin next month... my glass is half full. :)

Genshin Impact doesn't just have enemies to fight, it has various types of puzzles as well as timed and navigation challenges, and they all reward you with treasure and gacha currency, as well as each regions own collect-a-thon such as the Frostbearing Tree or Sacred Sakura for example, which rewards further wishes and gacha currency. And because the world is more interesting, varied and has more environmental storytelling I'd say it's actually more interesting to explore. But if you've already played Genshin Impact for thousands of hours and have already 100% every region multiple times, sure, I can see the newness of WW being enticing.

I somewhat love it, mainly for the combat, easy climbing, the way echo work... but this game eats my battery like crazy, even when it's charging while playing it would still eat battery, like I'd go from a 90% to an 80% WHILE charging. If I don't charge it goes from 90% to 60% within like 20 or 30 minutes max and my phone gets super hot.
While genshin I can play for 8 hours without charging and got from 90% to 30% in 8 HOURS while WuWa I can max play 1 hour before I have to leave to charge it.
And being honest, I like Genshin for its lore, so if due to future updates and storage if I unfortunately will have to pick what to keep and what to delete, I'd delete WuWa and keep Genshin.
Now yes, I compared both games because the video itself is talking about similarities and differences, but respectfully they're different games, made by different companies and its different in general, so comparing them is useless, play what you enjoy and ignore haters.

Echoes farming might seem like an incentive to do exploration but in endgame when you want to start building characters it can start to feel like a slog because from a character building perspective, Echoes farming is the Wuwa equivalent of Genshin's relic farming... with the caveat that you can't see if a piece has bad substats because you have to level them.
If you could kill Echoes to gain materials that you then feed to your character to boost a desired substat, it would be so much better. But they made it totally RNG: literally the same thing people hated in Genshin and Star Rail relic systems. So I think it's only a matter of time before people start to realise this and before you know, it Wuwa endgame will be full of those same complaints of getting so much trash pieces with HP or DEF

Wuthering Waves is so epic that people started comparing a game that hasn't even been launched for 3 weeks to a game that launched 3 years ago, the COMPENSATION rewards that WUWA gave in two weeks were more than what Genshin gave in 3 years aside from the anniversary. They gave a 5 STAR SELECTOR as a COMPENSATION, would you look at that
They LISTEN to their players, give feedback
Do not compare the story of a Game that just got released. Genshin's story, at the beginning, was also pretty average and Music got good as the game progressed
As for the Environment, Genshin's environment is beautiful and WUWAs is awesome cause it is set in a Post Apocalyptic World........
And you discussed the plus points
so GENSHIN KILLER, definitely, just give this Game a few months or even a year.

And there is absolutely no need to mention the “developer’s” compensation because first of all you’re blaming the developers of the game who are not responsible for compensations, and also majority of players do not care about the compensation, they just care about the experience.

_WuWa_ is the closest to being a direct competitor to _Genshin_ due to both being open world games, however their stories and characters are different. The worlds are different, as are the methods of traversal. Kuro Games also went with faster action-based combat, showing their roots from _Honkai Impact 3rd_ over elemental reactions. And then mixed a bit of _Pokemon_ in by being able to capture and use monsters, although as the relics / artifacts this time.
My hope is that if _WuWa_ does well enough, the Genshin Team will finally feel some pressure to make substantial improvements to the game experience, like the ones we've been asking for since launch. They might have to replace their stingy producer for that to happen, but I am all for it. I mean, _Genshin_ is play, but the RNG everywhere grinds you down. It could use some improvements, all of them easy.

Imo, the waveplate system is neither better nor worse than GI.
I mean yes it is almost 50% more than genshin, but the required usage for collecting rewards is also 50 % more than genshin. For eg. GI require 40 resin to collect any boss material and in WuWa its 60 waveplate. For normal domain 20 resin in GI and 40 waveplate in WuWa.
I think the economics is the same in both games . Even though WuWa has increased the "resin" yet it uses more to collect rewards.
Also there is not yet the condensation of waveplate system implemented in the game maybe in future!.
If you think you find it similar or different let me know your opinions.

  • @sillysmy
    @sillysmy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Great video! However, I have differing opinion on a few points.
WuWa's environment feels more drab, but I think it's actually a stylistic choice. The setting in WuWa is that of an ongoing apocalypse. A cataclysmic event has happened not long ago, and the aftermath is still unfolding. There is also more potentially world ending threats on the horizon on top of that. Genshin's environments are beautiful, but WuWa's environments suit its tone and setting better. Dragonspine, Tsurumi Island, and Seirai Island in Genshin are all pretty dreary as well, but they all fit their intentional narrative tones in Genshin. I think it's the same case with 1.0 WuWa. It'll only become a real issue if later updates fail to introduce more variety to WuWa's environments.
WuWa's story is very commonly criticized, and rightly so. The introductory portions of the story is VERY rough in WuWa to say the least. By comparison, Genshin eases the player into its world and story much more smoothly. However, I actually think that WuWa's story gets better sooner than compared to Genshin. The main story in WuWa is very compelling when it picks up. It really feels like the approaching monster army is a real threat, and that war against it is imminent. Every able person readies for battle. The tension is palatable. Genshin's story on the other hand, while not as rough from the beginning, doesn't really hit its heights until Sumeru. Some of the story in Inazuma was downright horrible. Genshin failed hard on selling Kokomi as a competent strategist, or even the war itself. It felt like an 8 year old with anime logic was calling the shots in a some supposed war that the player really doesn't care about. And the grand battle was just her doggie general and a small handful of guys on the battlefield. Genshin's story is more grand and intricate, and overall better woven as a whole, but it isn't without its faults.
This is all just my opinion. I do agree that they will likely appeal to different kinds of players. I think the one thing that Genshin does beat WuWa hard on is the music. Genshin absolutely crushes WuWa in the music department. It's what got me to try Genshin in the first place back then.
Thanks for the video. Please keep putting out great videos and your awesome positive attitude as you always have been. Cheers.

@@Gazer-x5s You're still stuck on the Genshin vs WuWa mindset and completely missing the point. Those mentioned areas are comparatively dreary and gloomy but perfectly fit their intentional tones. Just as the dreary tone in WuWa suit its setting.
I don't understand why so many players have this strange fixation on pitting Genshin vs WuWa 1:1. WuWa's goal shouldn't be to match Geshin 1.0. What's even the point? It's more important for WuWa to deliver a cohesive tone that matches its own setting and story.
