Just got finished replacing the battery after having my controllers barely have an hour worth of battery use. Great tutorial. Straightforward and simple. Thank you very much!
You have a great manner for explaining even the things that should be obvious in ways that don't make the viewer feel like you're talking down to them.
I have two controllers that I have disassembled multiple times. You're video is by far the best in creating as close to a fool proof video as possible.
You absolute lifesaver!!! My controller wasn't working at all, I opened it up, unplugged and plugged the battery back in, and it's running like a charm!! Cheers for the great tutorial
Great video! Really helped a lot. I loved the trick with counter-turning the screw till you hear a click to find the original groove to prevent stripping. I’ve been DIY repairing things for decades and never came across that technique before. Brilliant!
Very happy that your vid came top of the pile when looking to change my battery; very easy to follow, clear and comprehensive. Saved to my bank for later when my new batteries come. Thanks. Keep up the good work!
Perfect. Thank you. Just replaced a DualSense battery following this tutorial and it was super smooth. Unsnapping the rear panel on my controller was quite hard, but slow and steady wins the race. It was a black controller.
This video inspired me to order one and do my own replacement and damn it was so easy, Sony must've known this would happen to make it this easy to replace. One hour to eight with a 12 dollar 4000mah replacement.
Thank you for your guide, you explained and showed how to do it in a very simple and clear format. I've just changed my battery thanks to you, plus you've saved me £60 from buying a new controller. Liked and subscribed
Can't believe my original controller that came with the system barely lasts over an hour now. Edit: bought 2 batteries on Amazon for about $66 CAD and following the instructions in the video, it was easy and well worth it to do the replacement myself
@@GoatOfGandhi Could you check the serial number at the back of the controller? if it has 1 at the end it is a lunch type controller and if it has an 'a' at the end, it has the improved stick drift resistance
my battery wouldn't charge when plug in, i avoided replacing the battery cause i thought i would F it up, but seeing this video and how easy it was really helped and i eventually built up the confidence to just go for it
Thanks man i opened it up and found out that the connection to the battery had just come loose, I've saved on a new controller and a battery possibly the first time a controller has ever survived me trying to fix it thanks to you xD
This is a great instructional video. Perfect, quick, to the point and easy to follow. I got my PS5 at launch and my battery life on the controllers is really getting terrible. Now that you showed how easy it is replace I'll replacing the batteries in both my controllers. Thanks!
This video was EVERYTHING. I feel so smart!! I’ll be telling all my gamer friends that I changed the battery in my controller instead of buying a new one 🤣 🙌🏾
Beautifully done! Very precise instructions and even some great advice about using the same thread pattern as to not wear away the plastic from multiple teardowns. Nice work!!
Perfect tutorial, straight to the point, perfectly accurate, and thank you for sparing the 10mn introduction bs talking about all the history of the dual sense controller since the birth of Mark Cerny :) I changed my 2 dual sense battery in 15mn, amazing. thank you!
Thanks man. I had no issues. People hoarding the ps5's for a year to mark the prices up really screwed the battery longevity. 10$ with the tools is sure better than 60$
Thank you for the clear video. I must say I am disappointed at the quality of the Dualsense controllers. Past PS systems had better quality controllers. I bought three Dualsense controllers and in two and a half years of careful use, they all have problems. I never had controller problems with past PS systems even after many years of use.
Ty, I managed to quickly take the perfectly working battery out of the dualsense my German shepherd ate the sticks on -_- and put it in my perfect condition controller except for the fact its battery lasted less than 45 minutes. Finally have a working controller again. It was so much easier that I thougt.
Glad I'm not the only one with battery issues in my Dualsense 5. Thought maybe I just had a lemon from Sony. Now it is the original controller that came with my PS5 from 2020 but I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer in the sense that I don't really get to game as much as I'd like. Id say 10 hours tops a week. Also, I have 2 other DS5 controllers, so they get rotated out as far as gameplay goes. So yeah, the controller really hasnt been used much so my mind was blown that my controller lasts for about 60-75 minutes after charging for about half a day. I still have my OG Dualshock 3 from my launch day PS3, controller lasts for about 12-14 hours of gameplay. My 18 year old controller with the original battery lasts about 10× longer than my lightly used Dualshock 5. Nevertheless, thanks to this video, battery is swapped, controller is charging as we speak. Hoping to be able to play some games and not have my controller die after an hour, lol!
I'm so glad that this video exists, however I have no idea why in the hell they decided to make the PS5 controller so complicated? We're trying to replace batteries not wanting the nuclear launch codes!
Is the replacement battery size found in Amazon the same size as the original battery found in the PS5 controller? It seems some customers at Amazon complain that the replacements are a bit smaller and they rattle inside the controller. Does anyone have a guide line how to tell the replacement size so that I don't waist my money? Thanks for your video.
Well done! However my battery replacement did not resolve the issue. I think the Controller is damage and will need to buy a new one. A shame how these controller are not reliable!
Either your controller was constructed with looser tolerances, or you've done this enough times that it's loosened up. I can't even begin the first step because my DualSense has absolutely perfect/tight tolerances. Not only can I not get a fingernail in there, but I can't do it with the tool that came with the new battery. I may have to use excessive force with this one. Update: I have the Mightnight Black variant and I had to start by working the spudger from the center of the controller and slide it towards the ends of the grips. As you near he ends with the spudger, you'll have enough force pulling on the faceplate that you can then work your fingernail under the ends, as was demonstrated in this video. The screw heads are also much smaller on my controller, which isn't a problem. I may be overthinking this, but I assume Sony worked to make later DualSense variants more difficult to disassemble because they don't make any money if we can repair our own controllers. Anyway, the job is complete. Thank you for this tutorial.
An instructional video that actually justifies being a video. It's a January miracle!
Just got finished replacing the battery after having my controllers barely have an hour worth of battery use. Great tutorial. Straightforward and simple. Thank you very much!
What battery did you get if you don’t mind me asking. Cuz the ones I’m finding are very mixed reviews on them
@crunchycheezits1813 just bought a paxo battery from amazon 19.99 . Really easy to replace so far no problems.
This was the most calm and well explained tutorials I've seen in a while, thanks mate
Just got my battery replacement it literally took me 5 mins to replace. Thank you so much!
Same. I was astounded at how small the capacity on the stock battery was. Upgraded to a 4000+mah
@@darksidegamer7 where did you find the larger replacement? Did you have to modify it to fit the controller?
@@dylanallen5401I just upgraded my battery to a paxo one from amazon . Fits perfectly.

As the first gen PS5 controllers start to have their batteries degrade, you'll probably get more views on this video now
That's why I'm here. Getting less than an hour on mine right now.
😂😂😂. I’m about to order 2 batteries just in case
lol same thing is happening to me. I get like 30 minutes or so. I already place my order. Thanks for the help
Do we know if the first and current gen controllers have any substantial changes internally other than that 200 dollar one?
This is why I’m here 😅
