Never had any issues ever with any PS Controller. Been playing for like 25 year through all generations and now both my DS controllers have it. WTH Sony!!
For real system less than a year old from brand new and already has stick drift along with the brand new controller not having a working mic honestly garbage made
@CR.VFX.7Same here! I’ll be honest I had issues with ps4 controller (seems like the newer the DualShock the faster the issues) but nowhere near as quick as ps5! Considering how light and cheap feeling the ps3 controllers were I remember having mine at least a year before needing a new one! I’ve had my ps5 slim for like 5 months same as you and already dealing with this crap! I loved my GC & Xbox 360 back in the day but overall I’ve always been a PS fan since the ps2 era not just because of Sony exclusives but just always preferred PS! As time goes by I’m seriously thinking of taking up my friends offer who builds awesome gaming PC’s and he said he’ll just charge me his expenses nothing else! I’m not big on keypads but as long as I can find a controller which works for PC then I’m good! Part of me still likes PS but their lack of more quality exclusives plus all the other crap like upping the price for DualShock 5, the ps5 pro which I intended to wait to get for my 1st ps5 after finally getting the cash (so glad I just went with a slim instead) & all the other greedy sh** is really out of hand! Too bad so many kids & casual gamers pour money into Sony no matter the scam I think adds to the greed even more!
Ive never had stick drift on any controller in all console generations but both my ps5 controllers got stick drift. This is definitely an intentional problem to force people to buy more controllers
@@andersonaldo1340 no as much as you wish it was they just are dumb its the touch pad and speaker it let's to much dust and debris into it and hair and all it take to get drift is a little bit of dust like seriously the dust or hair in the wrong place fcked the controller since the design of the stick is basically the same for all generations its why 90 % of the time you can fix it by cleaning it you don't usually have to replace the pieces inside I'm not saying it doesn't happen controller abuse will tear up the metal strings on the calibration piece but it's rare its mainly dust and its important to not fck that metal piece up when cleaning it. But I have my touch pad taped along with the speaker and I have had mine since ps5 came out and it's fine ,and I bought a box full of broken ones from a buddy I fixed almost all of them with this video resold them at 30 a piece made a killing lol
All four of my controllers have stick drift bro it’s awful 2 controllers have it on both sticks and I can’t even get into my account it just moves on it’s own
The controller doesn’t show any physical damage or wear and tear so it’s definitely code to do so. Not my controllers did this about the same time roughly 1 year and half. Tried this and now the joysticks don’t work 😂😂
Out of five controllers, one has slight stick drift. Another is super sensitive with R2, it'll trigger if you slightly brush it by mistake (all the time). Overall doesn't seem to be as bad as people make out from my experience. I could be eating my own words in a years time though 😬
I was terrified of opening my controller because I was afraid to break those sensor blocks, but my drifting was so insane I took some courage and followed your guide with in a very slow pace. I am so grateful I did! My controller is no longer drifting (my camera would just become crazy and kept spinning) and now it's perfect! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
@@novanotfoundyt unlucky bro, i did the same thing in the video and i was really really really careful to the point where i started sweating 😂 and i fixed my aim trigger. i guess Im lucky
I can't thank you enough. I always have my doubts about TH-cam videos but this was spot on. My controller was unusable so I did exactly what you did in your video and it worked great. You just have to take it slow and easy and not to much pressure. Thanks so much for saving me $75.
After reading all the comments, I was really scared that I might accidentally break something but playing with stick drift had become nearly impossible, so I gave it a try and thank God it works absolutely fine now. Thank You so much.
I just tried to fix my black Dualshock 5 and one of the wires connecting to the motherboard broke in the process and I didn't even realize it. I then went for my white Dualshock 5 because it has stick drift too and I managed to not break anything and the controller works great. You definitely need to be EXTREMELY careful in the process.@@aiden
I can't thank you enough. My controller was just 7 months old when I started facing the issue. Sony service told me to buy a new one. But upon opening, there was just a small spec of dust. Cleaned it and now the controller works like new. Thanks a lot man!
I just tried it on my son's PS5 controller and followed the directions carefully. The left joystick had bad drifting, but I cleaned the sensors on both joysticks. I gave it back to my son to try out and he says it's working perfectly. Great video, thank you for taking the time to show the steps!
@@Liam-t5o you may have messed up somewhere and think you did it perfectly just try again and if that doesnt work you may just have to buy a new one sadly
@@ilikenugss4886 I honestly thought it would be eazy because he made it seem eazy, but it's difficult and you need to be careful not to rip any wires I personally don't recommend people with no experience to try this
Just wanted to say thank you so much. Literally saved me a whole new controller. This is the first time, in my life, ive ever taken apart some tech and attempted to fix the issue. Your step by step instructions made this so easy for me, and completely fixed my stick drift. Thanks again!
This method was genuinely a last resort to fix my goddamn controller. I had this sucker only 6 months before stick drift occurred. A year later, I can't stand it. This method 100% works, thank you for putting out the video. Sony should be ashamed for the "quality" they put into their controllers. Edit: I got a 2nd controller three months ago. It also has stick drift now, I'm not too happy with their "quality control."
@@sekutyasemacska The difference is the time it takes. I've had Xbox controllers last up to 4-5 years before getting stick drift. I play casually only an hour or two a day, that shouldn't create stick drift within six months. Sony for sure has a quality issue with at least the launch controllers.
Great tutorial but please be aware to not push those two metal semicircles (see 6:45) down too much when cleaning the potentiometer with the q-tip and alcohol. If they are two close to the white plastic, they wont make contact with the graphite pad and will likely make your drift issue much worse (as it did for me). Also the two metal semicircles should ideally be right next to eachother with very little separation between the two. I used a pair of tweezers for this and once i assembled my controller, my stick drift was completely gone
So I did it and failed and now my left stick is literally the max is could be pushed upward on its own you think maybe I did that on accident ? Sucks too because originally the stick drifted to the left now that’s fixed but it goes straight up now
I have 2 controllers both have stick drift very bad. Both at the left analog goes all left. Right analogs are fine. So I have opened both and took one of right analogs white piece and changed with other ones broken? Left analog white piece. But nothing changed. Still both controllers left analog goes left. So if it's not because of white piece what's the problem?
Just used your video to fix my stick drift. Thank you very much. I was so scared throughout the whole process but followed your directions and got through it smoothly.
I know nobody is gonna see this but I just spent the last 20 minutes cleaning out the wrong thumb stick and now I will have to clean out the other one 😂😂😂 (please kill me)
@@palpee8820 don’t worry I’m not suicidal I just don’t feel good enough and doing something like this which I previously thought was impossible felt so good!
For the past few day's or maybe weeks. My p5 controller had stick drift and i couldn't find anything to fix it until now. I just wanna say thank you so much for making video's like this for those who don't wanna go and spend extra money to get it fixed or a brand new one. You are truly the best person i have came across on TH-cam for fixing an issue like stick drift. I have officially rated this man a 10/10 and video 5 stars.
YOU FIXED MY STICK DRIFT!!! Started getting stick drift randomly the other night. Was so bad i couldnt even navigate through the menus cause it was constantly going to the left. Was literally about to go trade it in for 10 dollars and get a new one. Saw this video and decided to give it a try. Did the side sensor didnt find any gunk or grease. Did the top sensor and found a bunch of grease and some hair in it. Cleaned the sensors good and put back together. Now no more drift and saved me a good 70 dollars for a new controller. Thank you!!!!!
I hardly ever comment on videos, but it worked as promised so I decided to leave one. One tiny bit of hair seemed to have caused the much unwanted drift. Thanks!
Bro I’m not gonna lie, halfway through this tutorial (as I’m matching what you’re doing), I didn’t think it was gonna work. Stick drift is gone, I’m so blown away! Thanks a million.
@@Lucky-to7lyBrother i was not looking forward to doing it, had to go to lows and get a mini cobalt screwdriver for 6 bucks cause i didnt have any small enough, the whole process took like 15 minutes. worked great, easy to put back together as done in the video, absolutely 0 stick drift it 100% works, i used a knife to unbind the controller and used the products said in the video to clean it, dont sweat it
It's important to note that once you pull out the little white pieces with the springs on them, you have to be very careful with the way you handle them. One rough touch against the spring before reinserting it back in the slot on the analog stick just might make your stick drift situation a whole lot worse. So yeah, basically, take your time when following this tutorial. There is no rush.
Well I must've got lucky, I had the video paused as I got mine out and I saw it was bent upward and thought I f'd it up lol. I pressed it down thinking the springy part was supposed to be flat, then I continued watching and saw that's how they're supposed to be.
Thank you! I bought this ps5 brand new less than a year ago and my controller just started drifting to the left on the left joystick. If anyone reading this is or has played Edlen ring and it's DLC, you know that can spell disaster very quickly. I am so grateful there are videos like this on TH-cam. It's nerve wecking taking apart a $70 peice of equipment. 😅
Thanks for the instructions buddy... and to anybody reading the comments worried about breaking the controller, it seems to be fairly sturdy as long as you take your time, don't get overly rough and use the proper screwdriver... i used my pocketknife to pry the trim piece off and the controller shell apart
This was my last ditch effort before caving in and buying a new dual sense... It was scary, but with your instructions it wasn't bad, and now I'm fully drift free!!! Thank you dude!!!!
This guide was thorough and calm. I was able to fix the subtle drift on my left pad by cleaning the potentiometer with rubbing alcohol. Thank you for the walkthrough.
Ty for this video man. I manage to fix my controller thanks to your video. For anyone that has drift issues, I highly recommend this video. It will most likely save you from buying a new controller.
This actually worked and solved the horizontal drift issue with my son’s controller. It would drift so bad it made playing anything impossible, even navigation in the menus or inputting information. Thank you, you saved me quite a lot of money.
this is probably the first time i’ve made a comment like this but seriously thank you from the bottom of my heart. i can’t describe how overall scared and angry i was at the controller drift and your guide helped me out perfectly. not a single sign of drift in sight. i have to like and subscribe now.
Dude, I've been sending me controllers back to PlayStation for years. This video is brilliant and fixed my major stick drift in an hour. It was so bad my character would literally strafe left constantly and now it works perfectly fine!
@joey2765 no, plus I am a pro member and I got extra with my defective trade in. They only gave me $20 (I used to work there so I know how it works) and since I'm a pro member I get $5 free a month so I used all of it towards my new controller. Ended up paying $55 for it, I got a blue one
Thank you, now my controller doesn't have stick drift anymore.I was thinking of buying a new controller but I decided to watch a video, and I tried allot of videos but they didn't work. Thankfully I came across this helpful video. THANK YOU!
For some reason the interior of the potentiometer in my controller was covered in like black grease, cleaning only reduced the drift, but also one of the copper plates in the part you take out was broken. I ended up replacing it with one from an old xbox 360 controller, since the manufacturer of the sticks is the same, and it worked... at least for today, time will tell how good of a solution it was.
@David Navarro one of my potentiometers was also covered in a lot of what looked like black grease. I couldn't get it all of with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs.
Do not attempt unless you're willing to risk further damaging your controller! Removing the shell, screws and ribbon cables is child's play but once you get to the potentiometer, it's like doing brain surgery. The main board has four delicate solder points that you have to work around. Any sudden movements and you will pop one of them off - as I did. If that wasn't bad enough, I couldn't get the north door on the potentiometer to snap closed again after cleaning the sensors. My repeated attempts have broken the tiny plastic clips so now the little door will never stay closed. I would have to buy a new potentiometer and learn to do a difficult solder (which isn't going to happen) so my controller is toast. Please consider this before attempting. Still no clue if this fix would have even worked if I'd been successful in putting everything back together.
It is true you need to be careful. I would not recommend this unless you were used to making similar small repairs. Controllers are also not built to be repeatedly opened like this. I have an old PS4 controller which I've had to open several times to repeat the same repair, and over time several plastic clips have broken off, and most seriously one rim cable became frizzled after being removed and inserted too many times. I was able to repair it, but it did serve as a warning not to do this more often than is necessary, because the repair itself will cause wear and tear over time.
@@cccpike That's also a really good point. These things are usually not made to be opened repeatedly, but fortunately they sell replacement and custom cases so if yours gets too damaged you can swap the shell for a new one. Also you can usually re-solder any damaged connections if you happen to make any, but it is a good idea to have some experience doing small repairs before working on something you're not ready to replace.
Yeah I’ve attempted it once today and I think I might have put the wrong white small disks in the opposite sides as I cleaned both sides which might be the reason it’s now constantly pulling to the left consistently or it’s something more complicated, I bought a second hand controller so my fault really
I just followed this video and took the controller apart, cleaned both sensors on the left stick. Totally fixed the drift. Thanks. From a guy that has taken old Xboxes apart and put them together, only to have a broken Xbox, this felt good.
This video was insanely helpful. Nearly lost my God of War Ragnarok controller to stick drift. While opening the controller and fixing it was a pain, it definitely was my preferred option. I will be sharing this video with all of my friends, and I honestly hope you make good money off this video. Thank you so much.
Only had this controller since Christmas so it's been a little less than 3 months. This took me 1 hour 15 minutes, had some dirt and gunk in the top sensor for the stick that was drifting (not sure how). Cleaned it out, put it all back together and the controller is now like new! Thanks man. NOTE: It's hard to see, but it's very easy to miss the fine little threads from the q-tip that get stuck on the sensors. Make sure you look at it all from different angles and move your work light around as well.
I wouldn't recommend going into the mechanism with a Q-tip, but if you must you can wet down the webbing with some isopropyl and that'll keep them from getting stuck. That way the iso will evaporate and you won't have any liquid in your electronics.
Don't know what I did wrong the first time but I managed to turn my, "intermittent drift forward" into a, "full-lock to the left". Went through it again and it worked perfectly. Amazing! Thanks.
Another word to the wise... When you remove the little white springy sensors, be careful using a cotton swab on them. They have tiny little spring arms that get caught in the cotton webbing and can bend. I have 20/20 eyesight and can barely see them. So if you clean it out and then you have an issue with the stick rebounding from right to left, you probably bent one. I bent mine back with tweezers and it's working again but I have a feeling I'll have to replace that little white piece eventually.
Oh man... you're a HUGE lifesaver for this one, I'm having so much headache to play the new God of War on PC because I put my dualsense on the shelf for far too long collecting dusts and now they're drifting everywhere! Did this fix and now it's doing just fine, amazing even. Thankyou
Man, can't thank you enough. Just followed this, cleaned two controllers up which were both starting to drift and now both working great again. I cleaned out so much dirt from inside, I'm a little ashamed to admit it. All cleaned up and they look and work great. Thanks! :)
I just did this and my drift got way worse. I'm definitely not saying to not do this though. This is super easy to do and I did find some gunk on one of the sensors. However, the stick itself creaks and I can feel the resistance when I move it. So just a forewarning to others in my same situation. You're probably gonna have to buy a new controller. Other than that amazing video; really taught me how to do this for other controllers when they get drift. I just hope the stick internals don't break on my next controller😅
mine werent really dirty at all, its crazy cause even dirt or contamination on a non visible scale can cause drift. i had slight drift on my left analog stick and cleaning it fixed the issue. there were a few hairs tho so i wonder if those had anything to do with it. i need to do these steps on all of my switch joycons and pro controller and i am dreading it. i hope someone can invent a mechanism that makes it to where drift wont happen to controllers anymore.
Fantastic tutorial! I went through the whole video and found dirt in my thumb sticks. Cleaned them out and tested with Elden Ring. No drift! Love the closeups of this tutorial and simple instructions.
I was honestly scared to try this out but it was my only choice since the remote would make me spin forever in every game. Thanks to this video it fixed it. Not even a slight drift👍
I took air compressor n clicked my stick down n wiggle it around with few good shots of 100psi air from air compressor n seems to be fixed. Of course mines only 6 months old n my kid might got crumbs or something in there's since its his favorite controller he uses
This tutorial is the best, my stick drift was crazy on both joysticks, now 0 drift. Do be careful when pulling or bending stuff because some components are very fragile
took me like an hour and a half because I've never done something like this before but it was worth it. I literally just bought my controller and it developed stick drift. Works perfectly again now. Thank you!
@@FarewellFixbroooo mine broke and took me 3 hours. It’s not worth it because it’s so delicate/complicated you could easily break something. Im buying a new DualSense controller at this point. I’m Pissed off bc they just announced a new update for it but it is what it is
I don’t normally comment. Thanks for saving me from having to buy a new controller. My drift showed up overnight and it was spazzing from 0 to 90% left. Thank you
Dude. Great video. My left thumbstick was going to the left consistently. I watched your video and followed the exact instructions. Now it's like having a new controller. No stickdrift at all.
Had the same issue, turns out that little piece on the final pull apart was broken inside. Tried to super glue it, didn't work. Gonna buy a new one and return the old one in the mail
Just got done fixing mine and testing it. Zero drift, 100% happy. Taking it apart took the longest for me because I have coal shovels for hands and tend to break things quick. You are a lifesaver , saved me money too. Take my sub.
WARNING FOR PEOPLE ATTEMPTING THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME: Be very gentle! If you're just a little too rough, you can permanently damage the anolog stick. Although this method does work wonders, without caution, this will require you to buy a new controller all together
Can confirm this works. Just gotta be careful prying open the sensor covers (green flaps you open just before cleaning). If you pry them open too far, then it’s very difficult to get them back into place. So pry those open just enough to access the sensor parts.
This. The way this fella goes about it is too careless, they should be opened slowly and juuust enough as you said. The drift will return after some time as the cleaning isn't a permanent fix, calling for this operation to be repeated every now and then. Therefore we want to keep the bending back and forth to an absolute minimum.
I followed the instructions but after reassembling and turning it on, I tried a custom match on MW but the right stick is now stuck at point at the sky while turning to the left automatically. Any suggestions?
This video saved my controller. Playing any game was an absolute headache! Drifting to the left like a drunk man who just finished a pub crawl! Gave it a clean (cotton bud), lots of black residue. Seems to have done the trick! Thank you sir 🫡
I’m at the battery part rn (2:20)but when I pull at it won’t come out maybe it’s because I’m too scared and not using enough force but are there any other ways I can get it out safely?
@@sizlax The problem is they still use the same internal mechanism from the previous model, and it is prone to drifting. They need to upgrade their joystick tech.
Thank you very much for the video. I had terrible stick drift from my left joystick to the point that I stopped using my controller. After following you steps I can say it was a massive success.
Sony, Foxconn are a complete embarrassment; it should be reprehensible for them to produce a controller, which at face-value is advertised as gold-standard optimisation, but is rampant with mechanical faults. It was thanks to the luck of my algorithm that brought me to this video, which saved me £60. I refused to subject myself to that or take it to repair shops, with only CEX being the only available one in this overrated, wasteland that is London. After intricately following the steps of this tutorial, I was able to address the asinine stick drift fault. Through your help, the quality of my gaming experience has been restored. Thank you.
Thanks for the video! Note: Before closing up the green tabs on the joystick - You should set the white part into the green tab first. Just a precaution so you won't break the little white part
Be careful when prying the green things open. I dont know what i did wrong but they wouldnt snap back into place. I had to use a TINY dot of superglue to get them to stay closed. Also be careful with the little ribbons on the bottom for the mic and whatever the other one is. Both of mine broke super easily like they were dry rotted or something. I never used the mic anyway, and i dont know what the other one is for but the controller still works fine. Thanks for the great video. I got so used to manually correcting my characters from walking to the left that it's going to take some time for me to get used to not having to do that anymore. LoL
Thanks for the thorough tutorial. This totally eliminated horrible drifting from my controller. I didn't have a guitar pick so I used a Lego brick separator which worked well.
i did this on both of our controllers, both in various stages of stick drift. one of them we haven’t used for over a year bc it was spinning around like crazy. they both work exactly as new now! thank you so much for the step by step, lord knows i would’ve been lost without it!
Because of people like you that have success, we, the dumb part of society, now have hope, and we will try too, and fuckup the controller….. (Just humor, good job with the controller)
Very helpful, thank you! I was afraid to pry open the sensors to get them out and clean them directly, I skipped that part. but with the mechanism inside the sticks exposed, I was able to clean them out with canned air and cotton swab and that was good enough! fixed 2 ps5 controllers tonight this way, very pumped that I dont need to buy new ones.
Everything was easy to do until it came to that part for me. I couldn’t get them to snap back in. I just destroyed one controller because of it. I’m gonna try what you did with my second and last one. This guy has 100 percent opened this controller many times. Plus my ribbon color was different than his.
I saw this comment and I blew into my right stick and fixed it instantly , I didn’t wanna risk it and take it apart and blowing air in it seemed to fix it..thanks man
Man is a lifesaver, i can finally go back to my console games. i didnt wanna buy ANOTHER controller despite having 2 preexisting ones with stick drift. Lifesaver
No joke if you can build legos… you can do this, lay out a towel, open each part with little pressure (check for front clips once screws are removed) lay it out in sections as you do it to not loose pieces once you get to censors tweeze it out and put back in and work backwards. The flimsy circuits slide in easier if you do not force. You got this. - and to above point you buying a new one any way you 100% have nothing to loose.
Great video, detailed and easy to follow. Unfortunately the drifting on my stick did not get fixed so I think mine is just worn out from using it for about 2 years.
The only thing that fixed it for me was bending those tiny copper plates upwards so when you clip the green bits, they stick to the carbon circles firmer
That was the only solution for me, the tip of the plate was broken and the carbon inner circle was completely worn out, I had to bend the plate upwards and to the side to make contact with the external circle, it seems to be working fine for now but I don't think it will last more than a couple of months.
THANK U SOOO MUCH FOR THIS ! I fixed both of my ps5 controllers . One with stick drift and the other with the r1 button sticking because of this tutorial ! U rock !! I dont have to shell out 200$ or close to for another two new controllers !!! THANKS A MILLION MAN !!!
You're a legend. It worked for me, but the difference is that I needed to clean the top green part as well. For those who want to try it, you need to be extremely careful or ask someone skilled to do it.
I followed the instructions but after reassembling and turning it on, I tried a custom match on MW but the right stick is now stuck at point at the sky while turning left automatically. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much! The drifting was driving me so mad and the way you explained everything was very clear! I struggled at some point because something inside got separated and I had to put it back in which too a few minutes, but your tutorial was great!
My controller got insane drift after 11 months. I did it exactly like in the video, and now its like new. Before it was acting like im holding my L3 all the way to the left. Now its fully centered again. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work
If you drop your controller a lot this most likely won’t help you, but if you let your controller sit around and get dirt in there then I wouldn’t doubt this strategy works . I took my whole controller apart and did this, and it didn’t fix it but I have extreme stick drift it makes me do 360s lol, Best bet is to get a new controller💯
You’re a godsend! This fixed my stick drift issue. One of my controllers that hardly gets used (just sits on the charging dock as a back up) got stick drift. I cleaned out some black residue from the sensor after following your tutorial. It works like new now. Thanks a million 🙏🏼
This was a great tutorial! followed it the right way and now my controller is working perfectly fine, It actually fixed my left stick drift. One thing I would like to add is to be extremely careful when opening the green case (potentiometer) because that can break pretty easy.
I broke my controller while following your instructions. but its not your fault. sony intentionally designed this way, like super hard to fix such a basic issue.
Thanks for the tutorial fixed my stick drift and for now it's working without any problems, even thought inside my controller was relatively clean I cleaned them the way you suggested and solved my problem. Thanks mate!
You are a magnate. My controller isn’t even that old. This should not even be happening but props to you my man. Im pissed about the quality and it’s crazy the effort this fix takes. I’ll try and hope it works out. You have some serious patience!
Thank you so much. The problem with my controller was that one of the white thingies was broken and following your tutorial helped me notice. I had to buy a potentiometer (it was pretty cheap tho) to get the piece, but after I put it all together my controller worked perfectly. I appreciate the detailed steps on how to open the controller 💜
...Nvm fixed my controller by slightly bending those metal semicircle things on the potentiometer themselves so they make better contact with the graphite pad
@@crzvortexyou can take it out the same way he did with your index and thumb. You can wiggle it out by pulling it out to the left and right until it’s out
Like many others did this to fix major drift on my right stick. Went ahead and did the left while I was in there. Thank you very much for this great video.
I just want you to know that you absolutely made my day with this video. I have fixed 7 of my family's ps5 controllers and I am so grateful. Happy holidays 🙏🏽
This is an amazing tutorial! I used my oldest controller first and broke it even more, but thankfully it worked on my new one. Make sure to close the sensor latch properly or it will not take in your input.
Would the joy sticks cause the controller buttons to do weird thing as well. My one controller works fine with the joy sticks but the R2 button randomly makes me fire guns in games and skip through music on Spotify on its own it’s so annoying
Worked for me on the 1st controller i tried that had terrible drift. Just disassembled the 2nd 🤞update; fixed the second one as well. Very good simple to follow video. For reference I used WD40 blue for electrical components, I sprayed it into a bottle cap then dipped the cue tip in and cleaned it 👍
You need to be a more clear about some of the parts of this video that require a lot more delicate care when removing. Lots of these parts break very easily, and you edit the video and skip a lot of those exact parts. Meaning you either broke it yourself or didn’t want people to see you struggle. Not super honest dude.
Sony deserved a lawsuit on this BS of a controller. this issue occurs why too early and too frequent for the life of the controller
Especially how much its cost
Never had any issues ever with any PS Controller. Been playing for like 25 year through all generations and now both my DS controllers have it. WTH Sony!!

Thanks so much! This fixed the problem and my controller is as good as new now! You're awesome, brother.

Absolutely, I was just researching generic comtrollers

Thanks!

@millerman It's still working, there's some drift when I press the stick, but it's usable. Until now it has been 2 month or over 100 hours of use.
I can't even get the small green thing open like how am I supposed open it up without breaking anything?
@@patricklouis439what would be better to use rather than a q tip?
Don't know what I did wrong the first time but I managed to turn my, "intermittent drift forward" into a, "full-lock to the left". Went through it again and it worked perfectly. Amazing! Thanks.
can you elaborate i have the same issue
@@ToxiqSnaiQDid you ever find a fix?
Thankyou

I just did this and my drift got way worse. I'm definitely not saying to not do this though. This is super easy to do and I did find some gunk on one of the sensors.
Lifesaver
when I seen the thumbnail of this video I said “you know what imma just buy a new controller at this point”
Lol its not that complicated.
honestly u might as well ATTEMPT to do this, bc if it works then u save urself a new controller, if not, then u already planned on buying one anyways
indeed and if you follow the video its not complicated at all .@@nesquiked
No joke if you can build legos… you can do this, lay out a towel, open each part with little pressure (check for front clips once screws are removed) lay it out in sections as you do it to not loose pieces once you get to censors tweeze it out and put back in and work backwards. The flimsy circuits slide in easier if you do not force. You got this. - and to above point you buying a new one any way you 100% have nothing to loose.
@@nesquikednot really I can trade a used controller that works for more then a controller that doesn’t work at all haha.
Great video, detailed and easy to follow. Unfortunately the drifting on my stick did not get fixed so I think mine is just worn out from using it for about 2 years.
thats wat happens when u dont touch grass
The only thing that fixed it for me was bending those tiny copper plates upwards so when you clip the green bits, they stick to the carbon circles firmer
That was the only solution for me, the tip of the plate was broken and the carbon inner circle was completely worn out, I had to bend the plate upwards and to the side to make contact with the external circle, it seems to be working fine for now but I don't think it will last more than a couple of months.
In my case one of those little copper plates was broken, I ended up replacing it with one from an old xbox controller, and that worked.
Any suggestions?
you sticked the sensor upside down
@@mohammedahmed7016 which sensor?
That is what is happening to me rn. 😔
One of the best videos I’ve seen on TH-cam straight to the point and fix exactly what I needed it too.
For me, I just blew onto it really hard (I didn’t even take the black part out) and it works
Blew into what? The headset plug in port?
Could you link me to where you purchased your potentiometer ? Pretty sure that's my issue as well after doing this and only making my drift far worse
...Nvm fixed my controller by slightly bending those metal semicircle things on the potentiometer themselves so they make better contact with the graphite pad
I give up, i cant take the ribbon cable out at 2:47.
i almost gave up too i finally did it
@@lobzha.aepppphow???? hes blurring it out? can you please mark where to do it
Yeah, mine broke
@@crzvortexyou can take it out the same way he did with your index and thumb. You can wiggle it out by pulling it out to the left and right until it’s out
Wiggling it out with tweezers is prob better
Like many others did this to fix major drift on my right stick. Went ahead and did the left while I was in there. Thank you very much for this great video.
I just want you to know that you absolutely made my day with this video. I have fixed 7 of my family's ps5 controllers and I am so grateful. Happy holidays 🙏🏽
Great tutorial fam ! I had 2 controllers with drifting issues and thanks to your help I’m back in the competition again ✅✅✅✅
the green part to the stick with the white piece won’t close at 4:44
too much work ima js thug it out 😴🤞🏾
I fucked my stick drift up more doing this I should have just left it alone

I’ve never been so fkn sweaty in my life! Feels like I’m in the hot seat in class for not paying attention. 😂
Bro I just tried this no luck whatsoever
How?@@Savoo_gaming
This is an amazing tutorial! I used my oldest controller first and broke it even more, but thankfully it worked on my new one. Make sure to close the sensor latch properly or it will not take in your input.
Easy to follow and completely fixed the left stick movement issues I was having. Thanks for the video!

For reference I used WD40 blue for electrical components, I sprayed it into a bottle cap then dipped the cue tip in and cleaned it 👍
I did the exact same thing and it works wonders.
You need to be a more clear about some of the parts of this video that require a lot more delicate care when removing. Lots of these parts break very easily, and you edit the video and skip a lot of those exact parts. Meaning you either broke it yourself or didn’t want people to see you struggle. Not super honest dude.
This should be obvious.
This fixed it. TH-cam tutorials are what hold society together fr 🙏
