0:38 love the way your palette surface is fashioned, beautifully inspiring, btw, started a pencil sketch , got some colored penciling kinda begun into it, experimental comes to mind , , ,
Yes, I love your blue shadow on the sand and the way the water runs through that to the light.. very well done.. I would make that foreground rock taller since it’s the focal point ?❤
I really love the quality of light you've established which is really enhanced by the way you handled the cliff shadow with the waterline coming in and out of the shadow. If I could make a suggestion...I think the sand between the actual surf and the forward waterline should be a different value and some additional waterline markings because it should look as if water has run over that sand up to the leading edge. Right now the front waterline isn't connected hence a kind of non sequitur. Hope you don't mind my suggestion!
Rules are challenging at times.. Sometimes, objects go against the rules. Mountains in the background should be lighter (per rules) to show distance, but at times they seem darker than the foreground. So what to do? Paint what you see?
I would suggest morphing rules and your observations together. Sometimes you have to break a rule to create a believable painting, but other times you have to do the opposite and break the observation in order for your painting to be successful. It’s all trial and error until you are happy with your result.
Very nice!!! I’m always a little surprised that you use such a small brush throughout on such a large painting. Maybe you could comment on this? I always enjoy your paintings and your comments!!! Thanks!
It's wonderful how peaceful the waves look crashing with the coast 🙌
Gorgeous painting! Love the light😊
Lovely painting. Keep the cliff. I liked the disunity of the whitewater.
Another winner! Your handling of the shadow on the wet sand was PERFECT!
I also like how the white water goes into the shadow area. Very nice
One of your best paintings

Love it! I miss your surfing. Are you not able to surf anymore?
I still surf 4-5 times per week. Unless there aren't any waves! Maybe I'll try to include some clips in the future 🙂

I would start by painting what you see.
