A couple issues I noticed here that are quite simple fixes:
1. You can’t spray the whole engine like that there are parts that can be broken that way.
A. Fix this by disconnecting battery for 20 minutes to ensure there is no power running to the vehicle. (I still would cover important parts like the alternator)
2. You shouldn’t use soap I mean you can but it could make your belt squeak if you use the wrong kind.
A. Use water and detail brushes. If cleaning hood liner cover the whole engine even if it is partly covered. Then spray off the top and use Detailing brushes.
I learned this all from Chris Fix he has a video called “How to Super Clean your Engine Bay” Highly recommend.
Thanks for reading!
Edit: I noticed a couple people in the comments saying the engine bay can get wet.
A. Yea the engine bay can get wet but there’s a difference between rain and a pressure washer. If you use a pressure washer you are spraying directly on the parts which could cause water to get in whereas rain isn’t directly on the engine and it also isn’t being shot out of a high pressured nozzle.
As an electrician, thank you sir 💯
Lmao as a mechanic stay in your lane. This is perfectly fine.

@@01Elantraaa or just don’t. Done it countless times with no issues so far
Used to buy the can of spray and do my own engine wash. Rinsed it down with the garden hose. Then immediately start the engine to heat up and dry off any excess water. Dozens of times, zero issues.

Jajajajajaja así es ....
Disconnect the battery before doing this. Id say not to wet the whole thing. Keep the wires dry and not use pressure washer inside.
Si desconectas la bateria, se queda todo el coche sin corriente y tienes que ir a configurarlo entero a la casa. Lo que no le puedes dar es con la pistola a presion de agua. Luego lo que se ve en el video AIRE A PRESION
Use a pressure washer INSIDE the car???
Alright everyone out there at no point in time was there any pressure washing happening the soap has no force behind it just coats stuff, he took the sprayer of soap it was just a stream of water, and used compressed air to dry some areas. When it rains or you hit puddles water gets all over your engine. They were designed to work with water on them. Secondly dirt on your engine is not better than this and enough dirt can make heat loss worse and lead to overheating, along with getting in belts, clogging up radiators, dirt and other metals building on batteries and wires, and anything else. There is nothing wrong with this video.
Wrong😅 something called splash guards.
Bruhh when it rains water in not suppose to get inside from the top of your engine bay the hood has everything to protect it from that and even if it does it’s not going to be as much as hosing it down like he did it’ll just be little tiny drips what he did can easily damage the alternator and spark plugs there’s also a lot of wiring and sensors that over time will start causing problems because of this
когда езжу в дождь, намокают только поддон и защита двигателя, остальное или сухое или очень быстро высыхает
Mmmm electric connectors and rusty bolts say, thank you! 😊
Fake video right?
I found the idiot
That shit will happened regardless if you cleaned it or not. Do you really think the engine bay is waterproof or something?
engines are designed to get wet, I mean you don't think going 60mph in the rain will leave your engine bone dry do you? The connectors are all sealed, no need to cry
electric connectors are gasketed and water tight.
Sweet now update us on what the mechanic rinsed ya for 😂
Nothing
Just do it with the engine running.
@@Moepediwhy
If your spark plugs are exposed and have a crevice that could collect water cover then with a towel and just go in with a detail brush and apc (I’ve seen this cause misfires) If it’s making you worried just cover it with a towel before you spray anything on it.
🧡😸

I see these comments every time! I worked at chevy and toyota prodessional detailing shops this is how we did it, in the wash bay at that!
This is how we did it too. Problem is a lot of cars wouldn't start or have issues later on. Mechanics came over one day and said the water and pressure were messing up the electronics. Same thing when some detailers think soaking the entire inside door with water and cleaner is a smart move till the customer complains the window switch or electronic door locks won't work right.
@Shameless 90s oh yeah your not supposed to stand there an keep spraying the engine compartment with all the pressure wands in the wash bay they would have us do a few quick passes then cleaned by hand and rinsed quick with a couple more passes then we bring it to the detail station to finish drying an applying protectant.
Doesn't mean that it is correct.
I still can’t bring myself to clean an engine with more than steam and APC. Even though it’s (mostly) fine, it’s designed to be waterproof, I still cant bring myself to do it. Would make my life so much easier though!
Can I (genuinely) ask why you use just water for the rinse? Rather than the pressure washer from a distance. I see you doing it on the wheels too. Is it more effective at removing the chemicals? Genuine question, not trying to be a smart arse.
A pressure washer could force water into places it would not naturally go when rain or snow splashes up. Safer to gently rinse it off.
@@danecowan678 if you use pressure on the engine bay it could force water into places you don’t want water to be, that’s why you use regular water to run it all off
@@danecowan678 also cover the fuse box with a bag

Dad: hey son, why the car doesen't work anymore?
son: about that....
Amateurs making wise arrs comments do you realy think he would do that to a car like that if it was a problem
Vacuum all the crap from the cowl....but a dirty engine is a happy engine. Road dust ain't gonna hurt it as bad as pressurized water thru vital weatherpack connectors.
Engine bays are designed to get wet. If you run trought water pudle or it is just raining, the water will get there. If you use low presure water, engine is cold and batery is disconected, it is just fine. My only concern is the air gun.
Is it safe or not? Dosen’t the presure stuff the water past the conector gaskets and stuf like that?
I’ve literally pressure washed that exact same engine, I work as a tech at a dealership and it will literally be completely fine unless it has an exposed air filter in which case you put a plastic bag over it
Any car this new can do this, new cars can handle water just not pressurized water for connections👍
That's actually not true
@@JaYoYa modern (lux) cars not a fucking 15 accord or some shit my man 😭😭
Ah yes, because 1990s cars and even 2000s cars break down whenever there's heavy rain.
I'd say it's pretty safe to do unless you pressure wash your engine and not drying it after washing
If you do this, use plastic bags over the starter and any electric if you can, and use something like wd 40 or wd 40 for electronic to get rid of the moisture and stop corrosion
Don’t use wd40 my boy, just cover the engine with a bag disconnect the battery and be gentle with wires just use a spray bottle for controlled water.
Some people here have engine bays sealed for life, nothing goes in, nothing goes out...
Brother, dry the sockets and connections quickly, otherwise you will cry later
Been washing my engine once a month for years (not exactly like DW does though) and never, I mean never had an engine problem.
You ever seen people with nice things, and you see how they treat it and you feel like they dont deserve nice things
Очень рискованно, можно распрощаться с проводкой
Нет
I think the ECU and the fusebox are under the washer fluid tank
Okay I've been pressure washing engine bays after soaking with APC for two years now, and I very, very, very rarely have issues. If I'm ever worried I'll just run the engine and close the hood so the heat of the engine helps dry out the rest of whatever I missed
Fastest way to pay for a new harness
I wash mine every 4 months. I always make sure the engine is cold and always let it dry before i crank it. This prevents condensation and saves the electronic parts. All the critical connections are waterproof.
Much better to use a low pressure nozel like this in my opinion, excellent job. Unfortunately most detailers blast the crap out of engine bays and laugh when people say it's not a good idea.
I like your sound effects to the gadget gun effects😂cheChek!
I’ve considered saying I don’t touch engines as I’m afraid of liability if someone claiming I ruined the engine etc???? Do u ha move any advice or experience pro or against that. Thx!!
Cover ur alternator if it is in a spot that can wet with something like foil so that it doesn't get corroded with any water, and if u have a car with exposed wires or other general stuff u don't wanna get wet or soapy, it's better to spot clean areas that can be cleaned with soapy water in a spray bottle, a brush, and a towel as not to damage anything
Sick video ! Thanks for making it
Just use the pressure washer 25-45* to rinse lol. Especially since you’re using the blowgun anyway haha
That was pretty smart, not using the pressurized water but instead used the air compressor
Both push water into the connecting clips, just tape up the electrical connections first then spray. Gotta watch the spark plug wells as well, water can seap into your engine if one of the plugs isn't perfectly sealed.
Lmao cleaning the engine bay in an audi, like the driver will ever open the hood
Unless the car is a top end model I'm sceptical of super clean engines when buying a car what ya hiding 👀
Is normal car shampoo (Adam’s mega foam) fine to use on a engine bay I always just used a spray bottle of soapy water.
Very brave
I am sure that all those electrical connectors will appreciate the clean look as well as the moisture that comes with it.
Ever heard of a weather pack connector. Everyone uses them now. They are water proof.
@@jgranger2002 You may be right, they probably are waterproof, but I drive a 12 year old car. I may have grown a bit more cautious with the engine over time. The only instance of a sensor failure was when I started the engine right after a car wash. I had rinsed the front side of the car with the pressure washer more generously than usual.
I'm sure your car doesn't work in the rain too
It does, but the headlamps get a bit misty. :) I need to get them fixed. The lambda sensor I had mentioned above somehow got OK by itself after some babying until the computer stopped calculating the consumption too low, and an Italian tune-up afterwards.
Especially on an Audi, I work at a car dealership and have been in the business for over 20 years. They are turds!!!
My car won't start now WTF bro!

Your mechanic appreciate working in a clean engine bay ;)
You got that right!
I could watch this all day😊
I work for an Audi dealership. I recently purchased an S4. I was at the back parts counter with a handful of technicians and asked “so, anything I should be extra careful with when washing my engine compartment?” I swear, not ONE of those guys didn’t flinch! One asked why would I want to do that (because I’ve always kept my cars engine clean. Clean things last longer, and if I’m under the hood on a regular basis I’ll notice if a leak starts, or if some other thing pops up). They all felt the potential for electrical problems wasn’t worth it being clean.
Why the hell would you be under ur hood on a daily basis if nun wrong wit ur car? No point
That looks amazing!
Who cares how it looks. But does it run?
@@JasonFlorida yes it does
Looks good!!! I’ll take that over a grimy engine bay any day!!!
When car won't start then Mechanics will check engine codes then sees * 100 codes*

If u disconnect the battery and let it sit for a bit there would be no electricity running through anything in the car so nothing can short and if u dry it rlly well you will be fine as you see in the video he drys everything
POV your cleaning a relatively new car
If you are going to do this disconnect the battery and remove it if possible and then only use foam cannon to spray and hose to rinse. Them dry it with a leaf blower and then wait for it air dry more. Also cover any exposed wires.
For something that wont be seen the foam and rinse was more than enough. No need for brushing and shining. Shiny shit attracts dust. Most people dont open their hoods until the car breaks down.
Battery is like get ready to get electrocuted 😂
I know it’s fine but that water just scares me
W mans for taking the cowl out
This is like putting your laptop into the dishwasher
I always thought that watering your engine messes up your car, but before anyone judges me I WAS 4!!😊
Really old cars, it could. Any modern car has water resistant connectors and sealed control boxes.
It's very hard to water damage a modern car by spraying water around the engine bay. Especially at low pressure.
What did you mix the snow foam with nice consistency
Which plastic detailer do you use? I can't find it anywhere!
personally ide use some APC sprayed on followed by a steam cleaner vs strsight water poured all over
All the people complaining about water in the engine bay. Yet I bet anything that they're the type of people who go through deep puddles. Connectors are designed for water exposure. If you're too scared... you're just reflecting the lack of faith you have in your own vehicle.

I remember a mechanic washed the oil he had spilled on my engine bay with water, I was pissed, thought the car would break down on me sooner than later. That damn car made it to 330k miles. I miss you 2009 impala 😢

Try to be careful with the air compressor cause it might cause the air sensor to be damaged

Hi, may I know how is it possible to pour water all over the engine? I think if I did that to my 2008 car, it will stop working hehe
Do you drive in the rain or the winter?
Its fine but you can put a plastic bag over your alternator/starter if you feel unsure of doing it. Also drying it with an airgun will help it dry faster and wont keep water in any places in the engine bay so gl
@@victorassivero1061 Theirs a hood to keep most elements away from under it for a reason. Lol.
@@nicoctane1669Yes. The hood, fenders and undertray exist to do the important job of minimising water ingress into engine components.
