I would not have bet money on Rieger. But now that I know, it does make sense. There was a relatively brief time during the company's history--roughly 1960-1980--where Rieger out of all the top shelf shops built according an aesthetic that is hard to put into words. But here goes: vertical, silvery, it's-all-about- the-upperwork, gentle. Am thinking of the soaring masterpiece in Ratzeburg (Gorgeous place btw. "The other end of the world" in the best ways!)
After +/- 1980 Rieger (re)embraced a more Cavaillé-Coll "fonds 8' "and "fonds 8' + 4' ", also im all the 16' ranks for the flues, and gave a French touch to the still germanic reeds.
SO. Without looking at the vintage of this instrument, seems to me that the post-1980 aesthetic is at work. The fundamental flues are so satisfying! Still "léger" but yummm. And yet the silvery transparency that Rieger has always 'owned' are present. What a sound!! I'd say "alemannsch" (sp
?) from head to toe. That most lovely, fun, light, playful of the various dialects to my senses.
      Bravi to all!!
