Here after HM Queen Elizabeth II's funeral today. This was the piece played as her coffin and the procession left Westminster Abbey. Lovely that the fugue has been completed here.

Played incredibly badly, it must be said. What Holder was thinking... rhythm was all over the place!

Lieber Herr Fischer. Sie haben einen großen Bewunderer gewonnen! Sie sind ein echter Bach Apostel! Ihre Tempi sind immer angemessen und nicht vordergründig virtuos. Respekt!! Danke herzlich Ihr Robert Feyerabendt Organist aus Limburg an der Lahn

The high standard of Mr. Fischer's fugue completion can without doubt be hailed as a worthy extension of the Baroque organ repertoire. This does not alter the fact that, respectfully, a few remarks can be made here.
It concerns the enormous and continuous density of the contrapuntal fabric in Mr. Fischer's own part of the now completed Fugue, as a result of which main points and side-one's issues in the devopments of all voices cannot be distinguished in the course of the performence. It is simply often too much, which in the long run is extremely tiring for the human ear.
And concerning Bach's stacking technique, in particular in his 5- and also 6-part organ compositions (including the 6-part Ricercar from Das musikalisches Opfer), the fugue-complition contradicts even Bachs enormous sense of proportionality.
My urgent advice to Mr. Fischer therefore reads: let the score of the now completed Fugue a 5 voci be reviewed again later - after lots of performences and in analyzes on the desk. A practice that Bach himself has used throughout his life, in his still inspiring pursuit of perfection. In this respect Johann Sebastian Bach is still of great importance to us, for all generations after him. Or to quote in this connection the words of Claude Debussy's alias Monsieur Croche from 1902 in his review of the premiere of (parts of) Louis Vierne's second organsymphony: Bach, that good god of music, to whom every composer should pray before going to work, in order to protect himself from mediocrity.

Magnificent music, ditto organ and ditto Mr Fischer's musicianship; what a wonderful team-up, as it were. I think this is the organ that was ready in time for Harald Vogel to complete his series of the organ works of Buxtehude a generation ago. Time flies!

Both 4 manuals, both with 32' Principals and full length reeds. The Katharinen organ does seem quite a bit bigger though, even if it's only 1 stop more, but that stop is a manual double, to go along with larger compasses (no short octaves and two extra notes at the top end) and a semitone lower pitch making all the pipes longer too.

    この全集もってます。カンタータはリヒター版ももってますが個人的には古楽器のピリオド奏法に自然さを感じていいです。いずれにしてもバッハはバッハです。

Is this the organ which was restored some years ago? The so-called "Bach Organ"? I visited the church while in Hamburg, but the organ was out being restored and a painting of it had been placed in the organ loft. I loved visiting the church, as I did Hamburg generally. The St Nicholai memorial was a particularly meaningful place for me to visit.

Yes, this is the organ wich was reconstructed by Flentrop and finished in 2013. Bach payed on it in 1720. You can find further information here: www.stiftung-johann-sebastian.de

@@raymondwatchman2338 well, Bach played on a similar organ in this church. It was much altered then entirely destroyed in WW2. Other than a handful of surviving pipes salvaged from the burnt-out wreckage, nothing of that instrument exists in this one. Bach was actually in Hamburg to apply for the job at the Jacobikirche (1693 Schnitger rebuild of an earlier organ, later wrecked in WW2 and finally reconstructed by Jurgen Ahrend in 1990-93, most of the pipework of the 1693 organ having survived), but there were three problems - in 1720, the Schnitger was in a very poor state of repair, the organist was expected to pay the church for the privilege of offering their services (Bach, quite reasonably, expected it to be the other way around!), and a further requirement was to marry the pastor's daughter, which I understand Bach was not keen on doing either!

belle interprétation de la fantaisie. on voit que la fugue n’est plus du Bach dans la suite. On dirait du Reger, Bruyant, on ne reconnait même plus le thème.
