The first time I came across the ruins while exploring, I had no idea about the nightmare cycle. As soon as I saw one of the statues it started glowing and the splumonkeys turned into their shadow selves and I hauled ass out of there. I was so scared of the ruins then that I told my crew I ain't going back lol. When we went back and they told me about the nightmare cycle, I felt alot better. That place can be hellish lol.
The ruins are a dangerous place for beginners! Heck, they even throw curveballs at pros at times!

Great video! As a newer player, my group only just went to the ruins for the first time and got our booties smacked by the nightmare cycle (and bishops but that's a whole other story). Needless to say, I could have used this video yesterday LOL.

To this day I consider shadow splumonkies to be one of the most dangerous things in this game, at least when considered as a horde of course.
I cant go in there without moggles lol
Edit: Update: I went in without moggles, BUT i went in with a beanie (a mod the main server has that i play on). So still a big help for a noob like me who's afraid of vanilla 😆😆😆

Pro Tip: put some runic turf at your base so you can monitor the nightmare cycle.
You can't dig up runic turf, not without mods or exploits.
Can you still stick to the edges of the arena during the Ancient fuel weaver fight or did they make it so that you can still get caged on the edges? I'm almost done with a solo play through and this guide has been so extremely helpful.
I have heard that they have changed that however I for one have yet to try it recently so I'm not too sure.

Hey beard, i've been watching your guides they are so helpful. But since i started play the game, i could not figure out what blueprints do, which of them are more valuable and how to find them. Can you make a guide about blueprints it would make us so happy :)
Blueprints are used to unlock crafting recipes. If you read a backpack blueprint, you will be able to make one without ever making a science machine. Hope this helped
some blueprints you get after defeating mobs. some you may get randomly from tumbleweeds. and you can also find some via fishing in the oasis pond during summer.
Kinda curious as to why a Nightmare or Darkness playable character hasn't been made. Like a spawn as a result of Charlie. I mean Maxwell is sort of like that since my man had that Throne for a minute.

Im confused i play dst for 3 years now and ive never encountered any sign of an existikg nightmare cycle.. lol
Ever been to ruins in those 3 years? That's the only place where the nightmare cycle is. You can spend an entire life in DST without visiting the ruins thus not encountering much of the nightmare cycle.
