    I’m 17 and work at a nursing memory care home, just got the job, I never worked with residents before especially with dementia, I’ve only practiced on kids in my class and stuff. But they said they can get me to be an LPN and and pay for my nursing program! Which is so nice. I honestly really feel like they don’t know I’m not 18 yet until November. But they shouldve asked. But anyway I have the job anyway.

    I'm a LPN but the hospital I work at don't have LPN positions so I was hired as a PCA and UAA. I do everything as a LPN with the LPN pay but just not the title. I don't pass meds but I remove IV's, draw blood, insert and remove foley caths, etc. I do everything but start IV's, pass meds and push meds for $37.50 an hour. I work the 12 hour night shift.

    Hi, @OdonutzLive😊 I know most people who go for LVN or LPN they're r passing by to become RN later but what if someone wants to stop at LVN or LPN why do people keep pressure on you to become an RN? Like I'm meeting with my college career counselor she says to become a travel nurse you have to become an RN She was telling me more about RN than LVN I want to become an LVN I might just be that. What is wrong with it? Watching your video I see myself doing this in the long run.

  • @oyato1
    @oyato1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What state pls? And what’s the pay like for both new grad and seasoned lpn ? Do the RN sometimes look down on the LPns? Do you feel like it’s better to go for RN straight instead or it’s very worth it to start lpn n then bridge? Also what were requirements for bridge program like another entrance exam and did any of your lpn courses transfer to meet some RN program course? Also did you get 6minths to a year of lpn experience before going to RN school or is it possible to bridge immediately the following semester after grad from lpn school? Also is lpn job responsibility overwhelming with lots of patient lifting that it affects back or knees?
    Also how long is your RN program? lpn to Rn program is it accelerated for a year completion or did you go the RN 2year route. With that can you tell us how u balance lpn work with RN school? What your schedules for each are like. Finally do you think being an lpn first was worth it or do u feel now it’s better to have just gone the RN route straight instead .

    • @OdonutzLive
      @OdonutzLive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Heyy❤️ and in New York State, the pay is honestly the same as long as you find a job that’s willing to pay your worth as an LPN, the pay can range anywhere from $24-$40 an hour. I honestly won’t settle for anything less than $30! RN’s don’t necessarily look down on LPN’s, we’re a team so we have to learn to work together. In my opinion RNs and LPNs only butt heads when the job is overwhelming, other than that when everything is organized and everyone knows their duties/tasks the ship sails smoothly lol! I’m going to make a video on whether or not doing the LPN program is a “waste of time” but overall it’s not, you learn a lot and prepare for the real nursing world rather than being thrown out there as an RN with no REAL experience. I didn’t get to do the bridge program but I’ll definitely search that up! I went to school right after becoming an LPN but when applying to the bridge program I know you need at least 1 year of experience. The job of any health profession can get overwhelming just try to manage stress levels and don’t overwork your body with back to back shifts. There’s not much patient lifting. I didn’t get to do the accelerated nursing program, my RN program was the traditional 4 but I’m currently doing it in 3 years. I balance my LPN job & RN school by prioritizing school as number one and honestly sticking to a part time job for the time being. Nursing school can be extremely difficult so I had to cut back on a lot of hours at the job to focus on school. My schedule is usually all over the place I’m part time but since it’s summer I’ve been working a lot. Being an LPN was definitely worth it!❤️ You had great questions! I’ll definitely go more in depth with a video on schooling/salary/ & types of programs!

      Thank you❤️!! I attended Boces for the LPN program. They didn't offer a bridge program so unfortunately, I went back and had to do the traditional four year schooling but ended up doing three by taking winter and summer courses

      @@OdonutzLive thank you so much for replying! I know a lot of people look down if you go for your LPN before getting your RN, do you regret not doing your RN first??

    • @OdonutzLive
      @OdonutzLive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@victoriamcgee53 Of course, anytime!❤️ Also no, I’ll upload a video on this topic with more information but I honestly feel that getting my LPN really prepared me for nursing school (RN) and the clinical setting. A lot of nursing students graduate but have little to no healthcare experience /patient interactions. Being an LPN helped my confidence when talking to family members AND doctors lol I’m so used to it now! I only regret not being able to register for a bridge program because I retook gen-ed classes

    How do you go about becoming a LPN?

    • @OdonutzLive
      @OdonutzLive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First research schools you’re interested in and make sure you have all the requirements such as TEAS entrance exam or High-school diploma/GED. Then if you have all the requirements call the school and find out when they’re taking students / what type of program they offer. Some school offer 12 - 18 months programs. Hope this helps, I’ll be posting a video explaining all the details

      Not really, but it’s better to have short nails when on the job and if you go long make sure they’re press on nails so you can remove them before work!❤️

    Do you think LPN is a draining job? I always hope to be a nurse but I don’t know because I’m into art right now and i gave everything up to be a artist.
    I’m wondering will have the energy to continue art

    • @OdonutzLive
      @OdonutzLive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My honest opinion is that it really depends on where you choose to work. Bedside nursing is definitely draining but if you become an LPN and work in an assisted living or have an independent case (Which I highly recommend in your scenario), you’ll be able to find a nice job that isn’t as strenuous. I think you should look into an agency job where you can have a one to one case with a patient. It’s one person so your not all over the place and you’ll probably just be giving them their medications. & If your naturally a dedicated person three to two days out of the week won’t stop you from pursuing your passion! I hope this helps & good luck if you do go into nursing!🤍
