Congratulations on reaching that milestone! I'm a big believer in dividend investing - but dividends that have an avg yield of 8-10%. I lost everything in a nasty divorce in 2010. I had no house, no job, destroyed credit and was $50k in debt. Long story short, I now live in Ecuador, have my own house and coffee farm, I continue to work for clients in the U.S., and I'm now making nearly double my monthly expenditures in dividend income. I'm 60 years old and am staring down the barrel of being able to retire next year. It's all thanks to hard work, taking charge of my own investing, reducing my cost of living by moving out of the U.S., saving 50% of my income, and converting 100% of my portfolio in 2021 to dividend investing. It CAN be done!

I had to look it up but if a brokerage goes down you still own those assets and they will usually be transferred to another brokerage so you don’t need to pay to switch your assets over you’ll be fine.

I was just curious. How much principal deposit installments did it cost you to get to 679k? You said you started only in 2014? How much initial investment would that be over the years. I guess I just mean how much of the 679k is compounded interest

Total beginner here. If I'm in the UK should I be more interested on the FTSE rather than the S&P500? Single stocks from the UK over the US? Unsure wether I will be hit with some sort of tax if I make profit on US stocks.

Do you take into account the drop in valuation when dividends are reinvested? This is something I don't understand clearly. I have some retirement investments that, when they reinvest the dividend, the value of the investment goes down about that same amount. That seems like I'm actually getting nothing extra.
Value goes down because you are buying at a higher price . It will look like nothing changed but over the years those reinvest will compound

The one thing I would have liked to see is SCHD in your top holdings in that portfolio and I don’t any reason you haven’t put it in there? If it you just had that you would have been more defensive, higher returns, and higher growth rate.

If most of your holding is VOO or VTI ,which yields only 1.5%, how did you manage to get 2.8% overall yield?
Most of the stock portfolio is still made up of higher yielding dividends, the VOO/VTI dragged the yield down, otherwise it would be higher

You know, if a stock drops their dividend, you can sell the stock and buy another stock that has the same dividend yield with that money, giving you the same dividend payout.
BTW, what is this app you're using to track your dividends. It doesn't look like the one used in your Patreon.
