I see a lot of comments here that misunderstand. I didn't quit dividend investing (I'm still buying $100 a day of a dividend ETF, as well as a broad market one). I'm also reinvesting all my dividends which are on track to make a good income over the next 20 years - automagically. :)
Dividend investing is most effective when approached with a long-term perspective. While dividends can provide immediate income, the true power lies in the compounding effect over many years. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $350K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...

LMFAO! BRO, this is exactly my first thought. All his videos were about why dividend investing was the best way to invest like a year ago and BAM. We got this video now lol 😆 Been watching and following Chicken Genius 🐔 instead 😏😏😏
Most people don't have his tax problem from making over 445k a year, which puts him into the highest capital gains tax %. It's still an awesome strategy, he is just maxed out. A GREAT PROBLEM!!! But how does he expect to contribute to a ROTH IRA with that income? I thought the cap was MAGI of 140k? 🤔 BTW. I've had a ROTH IRA for 10 years sitting with a stupid cash mutual fund until Andrei taught me what it is and how to use it. FML! I'm eternally grateful for what I've learned on this channel. 🙏
In a weird way it's actually an incredible endorsement though. He made it. Not solely because of dividend investing but he's set and it was a contributor. Everyone dreams of that kind of financial freedom.

Dividend investing doesn't make sense for Andrei since he's in a much higher tax bracket than most now. For the rest of us, who are not, dividend investing is still the way to go! Keep investing!

I can use less money to invest in a company to capture more shares by using options. Just learn about options before you knock it, especially since you can use them in many ways.
Not if you sell, and have the contract covered. Sell call with a target price, if it hit ok profit. If it misses ok free premium. Sell put with a target price, if it hit ok cheap share. if it misses ok free premium. 100% win, zero stress but you need to choose a good stock.

Andrei’s videos are always like this: indirect videos that take too long to get to the point. The context isn’t even needed most of the time-Andrei just wants the viewing time because it buffs what his channel makes.
Andrei : I'm quitting dividend investing. Also Andrei : I'm not selling my dividend portfolio and I will continue to let it do what it's been doing all this time.
I think he also has stopped taking the dividend payouts and has decided to actually let them compound. So yeah, stopped dividend investing but has just chosen to let the divs RE-invest.
If you want to save your time: he didn’t leave dividends despite having finally learned that the market outperforms dividend stocks over long periods of time. But, on the plus side, he not only had enough time to promote his affiliate link, but he got that mid video ad roll.
Only, the market DOES NOT outperform dividend stocks over time. Morning Star says it this way “A recent study by Factset shows that dividend paying stocks outperform their non-paying counterparts by a dramatic amount. From 1991 through 2015, non-dividend paying stocks earned just +4.18% return per year while dividend paying stocks significantly outperformed with a +9.7% average annual return.”
Hell yeah, we all should embrace this approach! Too often discounts are seen as "saving" money when it's just an opportunity to spend a tiny bit less! Typically, unless your investment is a researched and appropriately valued stock or something similar you will lose money.
The truth is...he didn't "quit" dividend investing. He left $350k USD in his dividend payers. This tells us all that he still thinks it's wise and important. I do a mix of dividend payers ( ETF, split share funds, closed end funds and also growth index funds ), which I believe is the best of both worlds. You got the long term time in market with them both PLUS you also get the monthly dividends paid out on DRIP or cash. Which, in turn, gets re-invested into these funds and creates a massive snowball FIRE affect after 20+ years of being diligent and dedicated to growing the portfolio. Thanks Andrei! Great video as usual. Take care!
But don’t you have to pay taxes kn the dividends if they’re not in a retirement account? Even if they are reinvested. I mean if you are past the single filing 40,000 income limit or the married joint file one. Imagine you are reinvesting 100,000 dollars worth of dividends in 20 years before you’re ready to retire. Now you have to pay like $20,000 in taxes, right?
Anyone have any idea which stocks may be experiencing major growth this new year season? A lot of people have been talking about a January bounce. I recently sold my Boca Grande, Florida, house, and I want to invest a lump sum before equities recover in the stock market. Is now a good time to buy or not?
I don't believe there has ever been a better method to understand how to enhance your wealth than by working with a skilled portfolio advisor who can research and experience a wide range of markets. The value of the U.S. dollar clearly has an impact on investing in a variety of ways.
@jamesvigor6409 I located her, sent her an email, and we set up a call; hopefully, she will answer because I want to start 2023 on a solid financial footing.
I agree with him. My plan is to dividend invert until those divies can buy bigger growth stocks. Its the smart play. I fully back his decision . Once you get enough monthly you can splurge on bigger things .
Makes a ton of sense! This is also a good message about having multiple sources of income and how a passion for somthing can lead to much financial success!

Your $781 from dividends video is what inspired me to get into dividend investing. Sad to see that you've graduated from dividends and moved on to bigger endeavors, but I'm happy for you.
The hardest issue for most investors is stomaching a loss in their investments. And because the stock market can fluctuate, you will have losses occur frequently. You’ll have to steel yourself to handle these losses, or you’ll be apt to buy high and sell low during a panic.
As long as you diversify your portfolio, any single stock that you own shouldn’t have too much of an impact on your overall return. If it does, buying individual stocks might not be the right choice for you. Even index funds will fluctuate, so you can’t get rid of all of your risk, try how you might. With help, these are achievable. Levi Clemans, a pro IA oversees my trades. You can look him up.
I love how he pimped dividends to grow his channel and now it’s all YOLO assets. I guess dividend investing doesn’t attract as many views so he needs to compete with Graham and MeetKevin.
It's true, they'll make far more money from ad revenue talking about yolo meme stocks than they will investing their money in to a safe consistent asset...It's just a meta reversion to the mean. All content drifts towards the figures that favor the algos that drives them views. Dumb looking thumbnails, click bait titles, stupid face on the thumbnail, all of it drives the clicks, and that drives the content. Hard to find original content that sticks to its roots anymore.
Yep, it's a trend for the English-speaking moneytubers: show a tried and sound method. Hype it to hell and grew an audience. After a while they see, that their active monkey - making is far greater than their passiv income, these ads are just kicking it... So they need always some new flashy to keep the attention. And so on.
The biggest mistake investors make is to not stick with the plan you pick. I do very well with stocks that pay monthly dividends. I also have a lot of growth stocks as well. I’m currently at $2500 a month in dividends and by retirement I’ll have about $6000 a month minimum.
I am doing my best to stick to small plans. One mistake I've made is I bought too many different stocks. I've stopped at the number I've got now and I'm adding as much as I can to what I have. At some point, I'll sell growth stocks to increase dividend stocks and maybe see if I can consolidate when it comes to my dividend stocks.
I just discovered you and I like your content. I did hear a "mistake" or a "misspeak" when you said that you don't have to pay taxes on your Roth IRA until you retire; which isn't true. You don't need to pay taxes on the income in a Roth even after you retire. Its a traditional IRA where you pay taxes when you retire. Also, I would watch that backdoor IRA video!
In the world right now, wealth is shifting and inflation is rampaging every sector but the smart ones know that it is best to put your future with a trusted professional to secure and even grow the value of your asset and that's why I am stuck with Suzanne Stephens Ellis, I have experienced amazing growth in my Portfolio since I joined her platform in March 2020, I can't say thanks to the pandemic but it was during the pandemic I realized that there were more options and found a new understanding of finance.
Great content. Everyone needs more than there basic salary to be financially secured. The best thing to do with your money is to invest. Money left in savings always end up used with no returns, actually this the second time I am hearing about the same Suzanne, she must be pretty good.
Andrei, I feel as if I just lost the captain of my ship. We are so sad to see you no longer be a dividend investor. Nevertheless, please make the mega back door Roth video! Best, Mark
Is there anything like proof recession stock? I am 58 years and would like help in managing my retirement portfolio which is currently $1.25M...down from a high of $1.67M….
It's a delicate season now, so you can do little or nothing on your own. Hence I will suggest you get yourself a professional that can provide you with entry and exit points on the securities you focus on.
Very true! I've been able to scale from $350K to $650K this red season because my FA figured out Defensive strategies to protect my portfolio and profit from this roller coaster market.
I’m also 32, also investing about the amount you are. No one in my friend group talks about this stuff because like you said “it’s really nerdy” but I LOVE talking about it. Thank you for all your well-informed transparent insights. You are providing entertainment and education and I love it.
I’m about to start a dividend strictly portfolio. The goal being to replace my income with dividends. I already have retirement accounts but I can’t wait until 60 to retire 😂
If that’s your goal you should invest in the S&P 500 and then convert these to dividend stocks once you reach the required equity to earn the dividend income you require. It will happen much much quicker this way.
I think I need Andrei to be the narrator of all the financial decisions in my life. Me: * Goes to buy something a little too expensive that I don’t really need off Amazon*, Andrei: “Do you really need that Zach? Reinvest that money, you’ll thank me later”. I need this more than ever right now 😩
Yes! Exactly! Think about each thing you buy as something that could be invested and earned 10x later. That thinking has helped me build up a $3M portfolio =)
The pandemic has taught us real lessons that we should always prepare for the worse. Throughout of being staying at home, I never felt the impact because I have been investing and making alternative income while working in the office before. This was not an idea of my own but rather what I gained investing through Karen Asnin Whitby who is an expert broker and funnily, I came across her name on TH-cam and searched for her online and today I can only thank her over and over again.
I really like this video because it also aligns with what I have been learning myself. In retrospect, it was inevitable. The way you invest is largely based on your age and how long you have been investing. As a beginner investor, growth stocks are a must! Especially because of the tax benefits. As you get closer to retirement you can then gradually transition those stocks into dividend stock so that you can start living of the income. You only pay tax on the growth stocks when you sell them, so you have control over how much you then transition over to dividend stocks. Don't go selling the whole thing at that point!
So you pay capital gains when you cash them in. Would the cash minus capital gains be greater than the value of the dividend stocks had you been investing in dividend stocks all along? I don't think that's a smart strategy. What if the market tanks when you need to convert to dividend stocks?
Ooooo I like that. Then he snaps his fingers and stock prices drop in half... desperate times call for desperate measures when you want to increase your yield
I am both a dividend and growth investor, I have 20 positions in high growth stocks and I'm getting 15 dividend Pay checks too. I was up 135 % last year, which is about 450k in a year with a good dividend paying portfolio, all credits to my advisor; Jane Marie Kunak. My opinion remains; buy as much as you can and wait for the rebound. Only the brave get rewarded in these times!
Thanks for the comments! And don’t forget to hit the subscribe button +44......-7......-5......-2......-0......-6......-2......-7......-0......-2.......-3...... WAS
I like the reasoning behind your decision. Most investors don’t think about the taxes on their gains and 20 years is plenty of time for those dividends to compound on their own
Jeremeys explanation is less about tax and more overall performance Because Growth value stocks that are bought at dollar cost averaged discounted prices that also have dividends allow both the huge performance when chosen well and dividend performance amd so what if you pay tax ? Pure Growth stocks require investment in speculating on future income and discounted value amd that apart from Tesla and Apple reversed crystal balling IS VERY COSLTY
I’m glad you’re staying visible even if you don’t have to. Says a lot about your character. May your success be 100x before you retire! Looking forward to your future videos to help me 10x my portfolio.
Yeah but he said he quit dividend investing because he's already achieved his aim - 12:37 "I could retire and live on a beach island, earning $50,000 a year". He's just too rich for them to make sense in his tax bracket
Nov 2022 here, what a wild time for Andrei since this video. He lost a bunch of money investing in NFTs, he lost a bunch of crypto that is gone from blockfi. If only Andrei had stayed the course and continued dividend investing he would have been infinitely better off.
Funny, I just compared gains from my dividend portfolio since I started vs index investing last week and realized I would have done better with index investing. So I chose to sell my portfolio and put it in index funds. I’m too old to get enough money to make enough in dividends to live off anyway. Love dividend investing, but I started too late. Time to keep it simple for me.
Man I wish I had friends like you guys, I've been trying to wake my friends up to this stuff for that past few years and im in my own lol love your content though. Its good to know there are other people like me out there.
GOOD VIDEO:EVERYONE NEEDS MORE THAN THEIR BASIC SALARY TO BE FINANCIALLY SECURED, THE BEST THING TO DO WITH YOUR MONEY IS TO INVEST, MONEY LEFT IN SAVINGS ALWAYS END UP USED WITH NO RETURNS,.
To get successful in life, one needs to spend less and invest more. You don't spend 90%of your earnings, then invest 10% and expect financial growth. A saying goes, "what you eat dies but whatever you invest lives forever"
Nobody can become financially successful over night. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.
Love the Title of the video, grabs the attention. . . . . would recommend to keep an account with dividend stocks just to listeners with a net worth less than $500k. Have a M1 account and keep the viewers on your side Andrei. Can't wait for tmoros live video with the guys.
That doesn't make sense. Kind of like someone asks you "what food do you like?" And they respond with "I don't know, all types of food?" Give the person a road map. Not just "invest in yourself"
Dividend investing has been the best thing I've done after all the ups and downs.. I got in plenty MLPs.. like ET, MPLX, EPD, and it has been the best thing for me considering I invest in Crypto/Tesla.. and such, which are sucking right now, but I'm not as stressed that's for sure knowing I'm getting consistent income.
Growth stocks have historically outperformed dividend stocks by a large margin. He can afford to take the extra risk now. The real message: start your own business! This TH-cam channel and all our comments are his dividends now.
I love your videos and find them really useful, but there is a danger of them becoming less useful for the average person if you're going to basically say: "I used to do this when I was poor, but now I'm rich, I don't need to."
Woah! So Millennial Money is like the Avengers of Personal Finance, with Andrei as Dr Strange, Kevin as Captain America, Graham as Peter Parker and Kay W as The Hulk! :D
It’s fair enough, though does make the content less compelling and relatable than your earlier material. Fortunately, there are others picking up that mantle.
What you should be careful about dividend investing is, when you select a stock, it should give consistent dividend payouts as well as it's growth rate is increasing year by year. Otherwise there is no point in getting good dividend payout if your stock is depreciating year by year.
This one hurt man. It really did. You got me started in dividend investment. I’m sad to see you go but I’m glad you introduced me to this amazing financial world . Cheer mate.
Andreiiiii bruhhhhhh!!!! I was wonderin what happened to the Jikh in the suit ! Lol. Weekly updates on the stock buys! Im an OG subscriber, we miss that
When you invest for dividends you are more reluctant to sell in a market crash , in which case your money goes down a lot , but if your just investing in growth , when the market turns you just pull your money and swing the crash
I do growth investing and dividend investing. Also have international stocks and funds, and some bond funds. Also lots of cash. The key is to have lots of different investment sources.
I started dividend investing because of your videos. It was a great place to start. You got me on the path to investing and saving my money so thanks for that. People should understand you are evolving as an invester and thats awesome. The way you're going, maybe one day you'll be in a position where you find writing off $100 million in real estate loses makes sense to you. Likely you'll consult a very expensive tax attorney who advises you how and why that would make sense in your case. LOL!!
I'd love a video on the Mega Roth conversion. I couldn't afford to put in 6k a year until recently. But now I'm almost 40 and I missed out on a long time of contributions.
Exactly. They are not financial advisors. They tell you one thing in a video and another thing next. They got big because of the recent growing interest in personal finance. In reality they fomo like everyone else and will panick sell in a bear market. Which he hasn’t experience one yet
I see a lot of comments here that misunderstand. I didn't quit dividend investing (I'm still buying $100 a day of a dividend ETF, as well as a broad market one). I'm also reinvesting all my dividends which are on track to make a good income over the next 20 years - automagically. :)
Your title says “why I quit” I’m confused
Sir your title 😏
So your title is clickbait.
pure clickbait.
Then I think you picked the wrong title for the video my guy. Although it's just clickbait, I know. Not really good for credibility I gotta say :/
The real lesson here is that the real money is in starting a youtube channel giving financial advice.
correct. no need for dividends when he makes $1000s a day from youtube revenue.
right, dude makes 13k+ a month on patreon even. this dude could retire without investing a cent now
Hahaha so true...
Bingo
It’s called “fake it until you make it”

Do you have any recommendations of other channels that invest in dividends?
I follow dividend bull here on TH-cam.
Any tips?
Way to watch the same video we did homie.
What’s stocks are best for dividends?
Long-term investors at night: * sleep and dream of dividends *
Options traders at night: * stare at ceiling in stress and horror *
HAH that's probably very accurate
Hahaha

Make that video about the Mega backdoor Roth IRA, I'm a financial nerd!
I know, I’ve seen a video on it but I know he would do a much better job explaining
16+ minutes to not quit and just say you're diversifying into ETFs? I want my 16 minutes back
Andrei’s videos are always like this: indirect videos that take too long to get to the point. The context isn’t even needed most of the time-Andrei just wants the viewing time because it buffs what his channel makes.
Because you wouldn't have listened to everything he had to say.
Thanks for saving me 16 minutes Mike.
THANK YOU, seriously your post is MVP, this twat yammering on about nothing was putting me in a coma!
Clickbait. But thanks though, after reading your comment I'm not gonna waste my time and watch this video.
Andrei : I'm quitting dividend investing.
Also Andrei : I'm not selling my dividend portfolio and I will continue to let it do what it's been doing all this time.
I guess what he meant is that he’ll stop depositing
Yeah sorta click bait’y 🧐
I think he also has stopped taking the dividend payouts and has decided to actually let them compound. So yeah, stopped dividend investing but has just chosen to let the divs RE-invest.
Dividend investing is dog shit
I personally think it'd be kind of stupid after you've actually gotten results like that. It's like he'd be quiting digging before hitting gold.
If you want to save your time: he didn’t leave dividends despite having finally learned that the market outperforms dividend stocks over long periods of time. But, on the plus side, he not only had enough time to promote his affiliate link, but he got that mid video ad roll.

Thank you, was wondering if he really did or not.

Thank you sir
Thanks.
💯
I mean, I’m still gonna do both growth and dividend investing. Gotta diversify that portfolio!
Exactly. Using one trading strategy only is a surefire way to fail
That backdoor IRA investing though. I’m ready for that video

Hell yeah, we all should embrace this approach! Too often discounts are seen as "saving" money when it's just an opportunity to spend a tiny bit less! Typically, unless your investment is a researched and appropriately valued stock or something similar you will lose money.
The soul needs only friends and family to be happy. The five regrets of the dying, not one mentioned they wished they had more money. Go live!
Take care!
What he said!!
Now you have to pay like $20,000 in taxes, right?
he quit investing new money but didnt sell his purchased stocks

Anyone have any idea which stocks may be experiencing major growth this new year season? A lot of people have been talking about a January bounce.
Exactly why I unsubscribed from this channel

Yes!
“Here’s a magic trick to convince you”
"Wealth is like sea water; the more we drink, the thirstier we become; and the same is true of fame" Arthur Schopenhauer
@@justasimpleguy7211 you pay income tax on dividends. Let's face it, you're going to be paying tax one way or another

I like the reasoning behind your decision. Most investors don’t think about the taxes on their gains and 20 years is plenty of time for those dividends to compound on their own
Andrei: I quit dividend investing.
Same day...
Jeremy: Holy Smokas this aint no jokas, I didn't know I love dividend investing until today.
And Andrei doesn't like dividend investing because of 20% taxes... *facepalm*

What you should be careful about dividend investing is, when you select a stock, it should give consistent dividend payouts as well as it's growth rate is increasing year by year. Otherwise there is no point in getting good dividend payout if your stock is depreciating year by year.
