    I see a lot of comments here that misunderstand. I didn't quit dividend investing (I'm still buying $100 a day of a dividend ETF, as well as a broad market one). I'm also reinvesting all my dividends which are on track to make a good income over the next 20 years - automagically. :)

    Dividend investing is most effective when approached with a long-term perspective. While dividends can provide immediate income, the true power lies in the compounding effect over many years. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $350K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...

    • @MarshalWagner457

      I think the next big thing will be A.I. For enduring growth akin to META, it's vital to avoid impulsive decisions driven by short-term fluctuations. Prioritize patience and a long-term perspective most importantly consider financial advisory for informed buying and selling decisions.

      Most people don't have his tax problem from making over 445k a year, which puts him into the highest capital gains tax %. It's still an awesome strategy, he is just maxed out. A GREAT PROBLEM!!! But how does he expect to contribute to a ROTH IRA with that income? I thought the cap was MAGI of 140k? 🤔
      BTW. I've had a ROTH IRA for 10 years sitting with a stupid cash mutual fund until Andrei taught me what it is and how to use it. FML! I'm eternally grateful for what I've learned on this channel. 🙏

      In a weird way it's actually an incredible endorsement though. He made it. Not solely because of dividend investing but he's set and it was a contributor. Everyone dreams of that kind of financial freedom.

      What type of options trader? Options are a complex investment; you can make money in many ways, unlike dividends. I can make a seven percent gain from selling calls. I can use less money to invest in a company to capture more shares by using options. Just learn about options before you knock it, especially since you can use them in many ways.

      Not if you sell, and have the contract covered.
      Sell call with a target price, if it hit ok profit. If it misses ok free premium.
      Sell put with a target price, if it hit ok cheap share. if it misses ok free premium.
      100% win, zero stress but you need to choose a good stock.

      Only, the market DOES NOT outperform dividend stocks over time.
      Morning Star says it this way
      “A recent study by Factset shows that dividend paying stocks outperform their non-paying counterparts by a dramatic amount. From 1991 through 2015, non-dividend paying stocks earned just +4.18% return per year while dividend paying stocks significantly outperformed with a +9.7% average annual return.”

    The truth is...he didn't "quit" dividend investing. He left $350k USD in his dividend payers. This tells us all that he still thinks it's wise and important. I do a mix of dividend payers ( ETF, split share funds, closed end funds and also growth index funds ), which I believe is the best of both worlds. You got the long term time in market with them both PLUS you also get the monthly dividends paid out on DRIP or cash. Which, in turn, gets re-invested into these funds and creates a massive snowball FIRE affect after 20+ years of being diligent and dedicated to growing the portfolio. Thanks Andrei! Great video as usual. Take care!

      But don’t you have to pay taxes kn the dividends if they’re not in a retirement account? Even if they are reinvested. I mean if you are past the single filing 40,000 income limit or the married joint file one. Imagine you are reinvesting 100,000 dollars worth of dividends in 20 years before you’re ready to retire. Now you have to pay like $20,000 in taxes, right?

    The hardest issue for most investors is stomaching a loss in their investments. And because the stock market can fluctuate, you will have losses occur frequently. You’ll have to steel yourself to handle these losses, or you’ll be apt to buy high and sell low during a panic.

      As long as you diversify your portfolio, any single stock that you own shouldn’t have too much of an impact on your overall return. If it does, buying individual stocks might not be the right choice for you. Even index funds will fluctuate, so you can’t get rid of all of your risk, try how you might. The biggest mistake investors make is to not stick with the plan you pick. I do very well with stocks that pay monthly dividends. I also have a lot of growth stocks as well. I’m currently at $2500 a month in dividends and by retirement I’ll have about $6000 a month minimum.

    • @QUINTUSMAXIMUS
      @QUINTUSMAXIMUS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am doing my best to stick to small plans. One mistake I've made is I bought too many different stocks. I've stopped at the number I've got now and I'm adding as much as I can to what I have. At some point, I'll sell growth stocks to increase dividend stocks and maybe see if I can consolidate when it comes to my dividend stocks.

    I really like this video because it also aligns with what I have been learning myself. In retrospect, it was inevitable. The way you invest is largely based on your age and how long you have been investing. As a beginner investor, growth stocks are a must! Especially because of the tax benefits. As you get closer to retirement you can then gradually transition those stocks into dividend stock so that you can start living of the income. You only pay tax on the growth stocks when you sell them, so you have control over how much you then transition over to dividend stocks. Don't go selling the whole thing at that point!

    • @justasimpleguy7211
      @justasimpleguy7211 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you pay capital gains when you cash them in. Would the cash minus capital gains be greater than the value of the dividend stocks had you been investing in dividend stocks all along?
      I don't think that's a smart strategy. What if the market tanks when you need to convert to dividend stocks?

Pure Growth stocks require investment in speculating on future income and discounted value amd that apart from Tesla and Apple reversed crystal balling IS VERY COSLTY

      Yeah but he said he quit dividend investing because he's already achieved his aim - 12:37 "I could retire and live on a beach island, earning $50,000 a year". He's just too rich for them to make sense in his tax bracket

    Nov 2022 here, what a wild time for Andrei since this video. He lost a bunch of money investing in NFTs, he lost a bunch of crypto that is gone from blockfi. If only Andrei had stayed the course and continued dividend investing he would have been infinitely better off.

    Funny, I just compared gains from my dividend portfolio since I started vs index investing last week and realized I would have done better with index investing. So I chose to sell my portfolio and put it in index funds. I’m too old to get enough money to make enough in dividends to live off anyway. Love dividend investing, but I started too late. Time to keep it simple for me.

I got in plenty MLPs.. like ET, MPLX, EPD, and it has been the best thing for me considering I invest in Crypto/Tesla.. and such, which are sucking right now, but I'm not as stressed that's for sure knowing I'm getting consistent income.

    What you should be careful about dividend investing is, when you select a stock, it should give consistent dividend payouts as well as it's growth rate is increasing year by year. Otherwise there is no point in getting good dividend payout if your stock is depreciating year by year.

    When you invest for dividends you are more reluctant to sell in a market crash , in which case your money goes down a lot , but if your just investing in growth , when the market turns you just pull your money and swing the crash

    I started dividend investing because of your videos. It was a great place to start. You got me on the path to investing and saving my money so thanks for that. People should understand you are evolving as an invester and thats awesome. The way you're going, maybe one day you'll be in a position where you find writing off $100 million in real estate loses makes sense to you. Likely you'll consult a very expensive tax attorney who advises you how and why that would make sense in your case. LOL!!
