Would like to share the rayalaseema style mango curry, gita madam.
For 3 to 5 small mangoes, take a large lemon sized tamarind ball and soak it and extract the tamarind juice. To this tamarind juice add 2 to 3 glasses of water, rasam powder about one spoon, salt, jaggery about a handful, asafoetida , curry leaves and a tempering of mustard and cumin. Mix all this well and allow it to boil. When it is boiling, add the mangoes in full cut to half its length on either side of the seed with the skin on. Let this boil for about half an hour. Just before 10 minutes before switching off, add powdered roasted gram dall powder, for thickening. The curry us ready. Very tasty with rice and ghee and with curd rice too.
