I had a mental breakdown during this case too. The yatagarasu key opens the safe, but in the safe is a secret second safe so you need to transform the key into a secret knife because the knife is secretly also a key and there is actually a second keyhole inside the keyhole that you need to use the knife (which is also a key) to unlock

@bondfall0072 they used a parrot unironically to solve a case. The prosecutor also KNEW they would use the parrot, so they TAUGHT IT not to say anything about the case. They thought it was a good idea

Well what if I tell you that we currently have the key to the safe in our inventory? Now you might be thinking “all I have is this boring knife” WRONG. LOOK AGAIN. You see, this key *isnt* a key. Or rather, it isn’t just a key. If you twist the knife and cut open your hand, it’ll reveal a key. Therefor we can use this key to unlock the safe.

We actually do know where the key to unlock the key to the safe to unlock the safe is just by looking in our inventory, "but it's just a knife?" Well WHOOPSIES LOOKIE HERE! Looking closer at the knife it is not a key, but this key isn't just a key as this totally key has multiple uses, evidenced by the fact that we actively shank our hand trying to discover if this knife is a key to unlock the key to the safe to open the safe, it is in fact a key that we can use to unlock the safe containing the key to the safe so we can open the original safe, but this knife-key is in fact not the key we use to unlock the key to the safe to open the safe

Many parts of this play through live in my head, but this one is such an earworm for my autistic monkey brain
just to summarize what the game is trying to say in a way that makes at least slight sense (i know it's not really needed but shush),
there is a safe with a secret compartment. the key that opens the main compartment has a mechanism that turns it into a knife, which slots into the keyhole for the secret compartment.

After the safe key, The fireplace has a button that opens the fireplace but you can’t point that out until you prove the ink is ink that burns green cus the ink is made of oil in the lantern that uses the same oil that’s in the ink. Then you have to prove that the fireplace has the ink and that the ink is made from the oil. Then and only then can you open the fireplace.
Oh god I was laughing through this whole thing. I love the original bit, but seeing it in animatic form just makes it all that much more ridiculous. And perfect.
