The s 20 is hardly inferior to the newer models. The differences are very small. In fact, some photos look better on the s20. Video also hardly differs from each other. All in all, unless you always want the latest, upgrading isn't really necessary. In fact, the s 20 has more ram, a quad hd screen and expandable memory. Things that the two newer models do not have.
I have a S20+ and the expandable memory is huge, but I didn't know about the quad HD screen not being present on S21/S22. That's indeed quite "interesting" to say the least...
And the difference rely much more in image processing than anything else. You can improve a lot these shots using a well adjusted Gcam for S20 (at least for Snapdragon ones). I have Gcam for 20FE and front camera is close to my wife iPhone 13 in a lot of scenarios or even better in some. Back camera Samsung default app is good as Gcam.
I'm also happy that they finally brought back optical zoom. The "hybrid zoom" is purely a digital crop since it's literally a 29mm camera with 64MP to crop into.
The results will be similar, the 64mp was an F2.0, the 3x is F2.4, if the light is not ideal the S22 will crop the main 50mp sensor. The ideal would have been to have a 3x of 12 or 40mp.

I too was surprised, coming from the S21 and having ordered the S22, that the telephoto lens would lower so drastically from 64mp all the way to 10mp. I swear these phone mfgs make such weird decisions every year, but I'm convinced they aren't just foibles along the way. They upgrade some things and not others, so that next year another "upgrade" can be made to fix the misstep from the year prior.

First time watching this channel! This guy did awesome job comparing these three models. I was trying to decide between the S22 and S21. After this, I am pretty sure I will go with the S22 (unless I find an extra amazing deal on the S21). Keep up the good work!

My Exynos 21 Ultra often blows the exposure up too much in woodland scenes for instance. I am always using the manual exposure lock to get the results I want.
Camera from S20 is still very good and still lens are better than in the mid models smartphones. S20 also have got telephoto lens who haven't for example Motorola Moto Egde 40.
Videos like this are needed! Watching on my S20 and feel great. Given the Android 12 update, there isn't a reason for me to upgrade. I'm amazed my device can even keep up.
I'm on the S20 as well, and yes it still keeps up! But fortunately I would say because it's only two years old and has received all the software upgrades so far! I'm on those videos just out of curiosity. For me, the expandable storage is an essential feature. As for the cameras, the pictures I take still look pretty amazing! But I do have to admit that next to the S22, it falls behind is several situations...
A phone that old isn't really worth comparing, the S10 would already be 3 years old so you'd definitely want to be upgrading to the newer phones at that point.

Hey great video man, only recommendation I have is for you to upload these types of videos in 1440p or 4k since there's so much detail that can't really be seen in a 1080p video
Since the S22 has a larger sensor, the differences are minimal and almost invisible in most cases. the only difference is in the telephoto camera .... it's not worth giving money and go to s22 because of almost nothing

We will find that many of the software enhancements on the S22 Ultra will filter down to the S21 Ultra via software updates @Giannis so you may find yourself with two phones with very little between them camera wise several months from now.
S20 still holds up, the improvements are so marginal and use case specific that camera is not a good reason to upgrade. Please do a S10 vs S22 camera comparison too.
I say you wait another year or two to see what's in store, it's a Two year upgrade and I think it'll make it worth the wait in a year. I had a iPhone 8 plus and bought an s21 years later and it was the best upgrade I've made

If your S20U works just fine, then don't hurry to buy new one. It has still has powerful chipset, great camera, one of the best Android User Interface. You have 2 more years of update in front of you. The upgrade from s20U to S22+ wouldn't be that great. So just wait S23.

For the zoom you can think S21 is only using a chunk as little as the S22 sensor. S21 tele is a 2,7x optical magnification vs its main camera, while S22 tele is around 2,4x the S21 main camera. (Keep in mind zoom is a relation between cameras) We can see S21 having a little more details here on 3x in daylight, and this is how it should be in a stable and illuminated environment. Hence why I asked for the uncompressed images

I think it's adorable, but battery lasts more on the other two. Depends how you use it... if that doesn't bother or interfere with you, then there's nothing to think about. (Just upgraded from S9 *4 years* to S22 ultra, but haven't activated it yet. Trying to figure out if I'm keeping it or not.)
You always don't include portrait mode samples and night time videos which are very important. We want to see that 58% improvement in stabilization in night time.

Glass is still glass.
It will scratch fairly easily. Victus is only good for stopping the screen from smashing on drops.

Almost no difference.. I think i ll stick to my S20 for few weeks more, 4K screen and more ram still beats this tiny difference in camera performance.
