How to install Willys Jeep Gas Pedal Linkage to SOLEX Carburetor

How to install accelerator (gas) linkage throttle rod assembly to Willys L134 Go Devil Engine. The linkage is connected directly to the Solex carburetor that controls the air intake valve on the carburetor. The linkage is connected to the cross shaft and then the gas pedal. A return spring is used to apply return pressure to the pedal.

During the harsh winter months in Canada we decided to take the Willys apart, fix a few parts, and get it back on the road. Then repeat this the next winter. During the winter of 2021 we rebuilt the brakes and basic engine upgrades (spark plugs, water pump, distributor, ignition coil, etc.). THIS winter of 2022 we are tackling to replace the transmission and transfercase but finding lots of other problems deep within the engine. Thanks for this video. I forgot to install the plate before I re-installed the engine. Your screw detail was very valuable as well as the pictures of the assembly. One thing I have learned since is that you put a floor jack under the engine skid plate and remove the engine mounts and lower the engine a couple of inches without disconnecting from the bell housing. This will give you another inch or so behind the engine to work with.

Those solex's can be finicky after sitting once ran. The WWII guys had a label to remind them about this

Agreed! We recently changed our carburetor to a Carter WO and it makes such a difference. Original parts are sometimes the best parts for these old Jeeps!
