Thank you for this clear and concise video MJ tutorial. I have been doing my own research, but decided to check out TH-cam to see if people are still using it. It's funny that you mentioned that your kids removed the adapter plug. When we had Magic Jack a long time ago, my boys did the same thing. They needed an adapter so they took it and we didn't have phone for awhile. We we wondering why the phone was so quiet .. lol... I never understood that "away voice mail message" so I am glad you cleared that up. We are getting a new one today! Certainly appreciate the time you took to put this together for us!
You're a truly great teacher! Many--if not most--creators of instructional videos rush through their demonstrations so fast, the information can't really sink in. In the past, I've actually reduced the playback speed to 25 or 50 percent, just so my brain could keep up! But I don't bother with that anymore. If I come across a creator who's talking a mile a minute, I just move on. Right from the start of your first video about Magicjack, you had me hooked. And because of this followup video, I'll be ordering one today. THANKS!
I have the exact opposite problem. I can't keep up unless the creator is talking fast. I have severe ADHD and it's difficult for me to maintain focus when someone is speaking slower than another ADHDer. I appreciated this man's video, as I am awaiting my first MagicJack device to be delivered and was curious about other people's experience with the device/service.
Very good video.I,am a senior ,I want to use magic jack. Can you tell me how or if I can use more tham one line . like my living room and bed room phones.
If you want separate phone lines you'll need to buya second device. One device per phone line. You can put a cordless phone system on one MagicJack line and have phones all over your house but they will all be connected to the same phone line.
I have had MJ for around 10 years and have ne plans to leave. I usually wait until they have a sale going on and buy 2-3 years at a time. I am currently paid up through 2026. Call quality is terrific and the dial tone is always there.
Excellent video! Wondering - I'm wanting to get rid of my cell only because of the radiation from it. This magic jack and cordless phone - do they give off the radiation as well. Just wondering if I'd be gaining anything in that regard by switching to magic jack from cell phone? I like that I could take the magic jack when traveling and plug into my laptop. I suppose the the magic jack can be tracked as well as a cell phone? Just don't like all this potential surveillance out there.
Everything wireless and electrical gives off radiation. But if you get a DECT cordless phone the radio waves are bigger. So it's considered safer as they are not microwaves and can't penetrate the cell walls - (at least that's what I've read).
I am sensitive to that type of radiation and bought a MagicJack recently, though I haven't received it in the mail yet. I'm trying to reduce my exposure to it, too. The problem with getting rid of a cell phone completely is that many banks and other online websites/services don't allow a VOIP phone to receive two factor authentication SMS messages. Some sites and services allow it but many, like many financial institutions/banks, don't. So, I'm keeping a low cost cell phone plan active for 2FA purposes, and for when I'm traveling. I'm starting to keep my cell phone OUT of my bedroom, and keep it further away from me during waking hours. It's also helping some with my "addiction" to my phone. Though I'm no where near as addicted as some other people, I do have that obsessive need to check notifications. I'm working on it, and it's helping. Surveillance-wise, I don't know about tracking. I figure, like you, that it's just as tracked as cell phones and the last remaining landlines in the US. Though I've heard that if you call another MJ user that those aren't tracked? I've heard that in terms of other SIP phones, too. I don't know how true it is. Check out Rob Braxman (here on YT and on other plaftorms). He's got great, detailed videos describing security and privacy.
It works but i wish they would learn how to count money. My thing was paid 5 yrs., then after 1 yr. they demanded payment again, so i did, now they say i am paid up 5 yrs.! Trick is not to trust them, don't pay in advance.
Did you ever get hashed out why it was they missed the first payment? This appears to be not an uncommon occurrence.... anything to do with changing the card used for payment?
I am trying to install a magicjack for my nextdoor neighbor, problem is she has a Samsung Chrome book that is using Chrome OS, beast, technicians say it can be done. I want to do this for her, she is a senior whose husband's has passed away, and she is working 2 jobs
I am getting to take with me to Philippines. I have it already and have it registered. And the magic app works great. I have not tested it yet on faxing or anything but I would love to use the fax part of it. I mainly got it so I can get a local phone number for Philippines and be able to get my pin codes when I log onto banks or sites that send a code to my phone..

Did the install work?? I need to install MJ for Chrome book.
connect it directly to your neighbor's router via an ethernet cable. Its a more simpler (less dependencies) installation.
Your intro is too long
I was ripped-off by magic jack. Don't get a magic jack.
What happened - did you have to pay twice?
