The power of being chosen - having someone see something in you when you don’t see it yourself. What a powerful life lesson. Giving thanks for all those who believed in me and resolving to do the same for someone else.
In the age of hyper short form video and limited attention spans, it is rare for me to sit down and watch a 20 min + video on TH-cam. Leave it to YETI to create a story that keeps you constantly waiting to find out what happens next. Well done!
Thanks to our friends at YETI for bringing this story to light. Although we have heard Oliver tell this a number of times, there is something powerful about seeing him tell it again here. Ben Knight and Travis Rummel always do an incredible job of bringing stories to life.
There's a bond a lot of us anglers share, and I couldn't help but be moved by his trials and tribulations in pursuit of his passion around fishing. Love. Thank you YETI and production team, the crew, and of course Oliver.
Flying fishing is therapy for so many, including myself. There's not many things quite like it and I can only relate it to freediving. Both I love and both have saved my life.
The love a parent experiences is without a doubt not possible to imagine until you have your own. Also, the sacrifice that your partner makes to allow us to do these epic trips is incomprehensible until you have your own children. It truly is life-changing in every aspect of your life. The ending is beautiful, so beautiful.
What an incredible story.. how amazing that he is still alive to share it. Thank you for giving him a platform.. 🙏 This is so powerful, and moving. Life affirming. Never waste a single moment.
I love fishing My son has just started fly fishing. I love life. I really enjoyed and appreciated this film. So much. Wonderful work…….wonderful. I’m happy and pleased to see someone love their child so much. We need great parents. My son has changed me as well.
Yes this is what it means to be an angler. When it runs in your blood its permeates through every aspect of your life and family. It's not a hobby, it's simply everything.
Oliver, you are truly an inspiration to so many in this sport and industry. Thank you for sharing such a personal story and account, blown away! My respect for you as an angler, dad, and entrepreneur has grown enormously through this account. Thank you, God Bless, Keep Walking Upstream, and Tight Lines!
We don’t have quality magazines anymore with stories to take your mind on an adventure; we need more content like this. It’s good for the soul. Thanks all involved for your effort, much appreciated
Amazing story and I have a greater appreciation for the precious thing we call life. Well done Oliver and I can’t wait to get back to your lodge in Idaho next summer.
I see a lot of people asking for the book-list. Here is a list of books Ackman has recommended in the past: 1. Margin of Safety 2. Security Analysis 3. Confidence Game 4. Beating The Street 5. Quality of Earnings 6. One Up on Wall Street 7. The Intelligent Investor 8. The Warren Buffett Way 9. The Essays of Warren Buffett 10. You Can Be a Stock Market Genius 11. Fooling Some of the People All of the Time
When Oliver left his job to go back to what he loved, it literally brought tears of joy to my eyes… So inspiring… Especially for me right now. And then the twist😳 Crazy story
I also studied Philosophy. I joined a seminary. I was twelve years old and did this by the Dewey Decimal. I read things that no one had an understanding of. The Skrewl that I grew up in did not have what I was seeking. I learned about the past. I had no beard, no tube, just a child wanting answers
The best story telling i've ever seen pictured in 20 minutes. Congrats to your team and you! Best filming cutting and CONTEXT. Never underestimate the context
Hauntingly beautiful. The thread of connectivity with nature is very moving indeed, very moving..... fishing & nature = happiness you made the right choice to return, wishing you all the best. Rich :0)
Videos like this really humble you. Life can be cruel, but it’s also full of such beauty and love if you can position yourself to get the right perspective. I think all of us are guilty of being caught up in “the daily commute” that we fail to appreciate all that we have and focus more on what we want next. I could never be more appreciative for my upbringing and opportunities but I have a special place in my heart to learn more from those who come from walks of life that I could only imagine through their stories. Incredible video and story! I hope that I’m able to meet and fish with Oliver someday. Tight lines everybody!
I have listened to his drifting interview with JT Van Zandt probably 12 times and seeing this story in video form was incredible. Great job Yeti, you have done it again!
I'd give up everything just to be seen by the right person. The feeling of being destined for greatness but continuously coming up just above water long enough to breathe. It gets heavy.
I really appreciate around the 7:00 minute mark. I also broke my back in a skiing/snowboarding accident. Doctors told me I shouldn't snowboard again for my own sake. (Risk of becoming paralyzed if it happens again). Which is a major bummer as this was the first highly active sport I ever enjoyed. Currently I am looking for another activity to help build social connections and just be outside. Fishing is starting to become that for me and It's nice to see it was the relief for the same struggle: having to put something down you highly enjoy.
I don’t know how.. but I managed to see this a few years back and then it must have been taken down for a logistical reason. But I’ve been looking forward to a rerelease ever since. Fantastic story that so many should hear and absorb Oliver you are a legend.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this video. It was such a pleasure to get to know Oliver and his story. I loved watching it! Thank you for all the work and for sharing this with us.
I started fly-fishing when I lived up in the Northern Canadian High Arctic 25 years ago. I taught myself, and the BIGGEST fish I have landed on fly was up there. 55 lb Lake Trout, 40 lb Inconnu, 35 lb+ Pike, Grayling, 20 lb+ Arctic Char, and many, many big Salmon. Now back in Australia, I am into both Trout freshwater, and Pelagic Bluewater fly-fishing. Nothing else gives me as much fun and relaxation and excitement ( bar my karen crazy wife) - than fly-fishing!.
Beautiful & Inspiring. Really makes you think of how you spend your life, and wonder if only 1% could break out to give back like this, how different things would be. Loved Oliver and his journey. Hope to see more. PFFFSSSTTT, Hope to be a part of "more". Great Job Oliver, Yeti, & Co.!
What a great story about life. We all take many different paths, i'm glad Oliver found his, living his dream of fly fishing! Great video, videography, editing, music, sound. wonderfully done, kudos!
I never thought when i clicked on this video it was gong to be like this. Beautiful story and big ups to Bill for seeing something in someone that they couldn’t see them selfs
what a story. I remember hearing an interview from Bill Ackman on how he invested in a fishing business/resort and he was surprised at how good of a business it became.
An incredible story in so many ways! Such wonderful cinematography and music that inspire but also educate and give hope to communities around the world. I love all my Yeti products and a great moment for me was visiting the flagship store in Austin. Such powerful videos. Thank you.

It’s Felt Soul. They’ve always been top of the game.
Did you have multiple tabs open though?
Sounds like you have exactly what you describe
The 7 lb. 'catch' wrapped in a diaper will change your life every time! Great story...thanks for sharing Oliver with us!
This is definitely one of the greatest fly fishing film we've ever seen. Crazy storytelling

I don't remember i have watched fly fishing movie with tears in my eyes. Amazing artwork..
Yeti's long form story telling videos are always done so well. I always look forward to these.

Examples of true humility seem to be a byproduct of everything Oliver does.
It's hard to say what he's more gifted at.

So spot on. I miss the great stories we used to be gifted with at the news stand.
Amazing story and I have a greater appreciation for the precious thing we call life. Well done Oliver and I can’t wait to get back to your lodge in Idaho next summer.
The transition in the subway in new york from fishing guide to businessman was so well done. Exceptionally cinematic.
Putting Gregory Alan in for music is amazing
What song is that at 22:00?

Wow!! I began watching a few days ago, but finally watched in totality. Blew my mind. Amazing story. Way to go YETI..
The fishing brought me here, but the gripping portrayal of life lessons kept me here! Incredibly well done! 🎣🙏🏼
I always get so excited when I see one of these Yeti shorts pop up on my feed, they are all so fantastic and gorgeous, this one included!
Heavy, rich, and layered. Every genre of literature burrito wrapped in pure elegance. Absolutely sensational.

Bill ackman got the dog in him, what a experience to be able to teach him something and learn from him, that’s awesome.
