Best version of that song period. Wow the control he had from start to finnish. He knew what, when and where to do it through out whole song. Goose bumps! Talent unreal here vocally and as an artist
Best version I ever heard, hands down. I love watching the reactions of all of his peers behind him too. As musicians themselves, they realize they are watching a masterpiece unfolding before their very eyes. This event was truly special.
The pianist is Anthony Burger and played all the time with Bill Gaither, his group, and the homecoming videos and concerts. Sadly, he suffered a massive heart attack while on stage playing during a gospel cruise. He died that day at age 44. But he passed doing what he loved.
Yes you could tell the Holy Spirit was on him and he is Anointed and that is the difference between the anointed and the non anointed gospel singers and he is a anointed Holy Spirit gospel singer thank you God for your Holy Spirit amen amen amen amen amen❤❤
David has a God given talent. If you can’t feel blessed by hearing David sing then you just can’t feel blessed. He believes every word he sings. There’s not a better tenor voice anywhere.
David Phelps knocked this out of the park. He was filled with the Spirit and EVERYONE in that room knew it! WOW...WOW...WOW! This version is incomparable! It is the finest, most emotional rendering I've ever heard.
That was, “GODS SPAGHETTI!!”. With Gods help, David Phelps , took and made the best pasta ever made!! It was homemade with a sauce that will curl your toes!! On top of that he added the best blend of Parmesan Cheese that we will ever taste!! He ended it with a side of garlic bread. Garlic Bread so amazing there left no doubt that his singing ability is a gift from GOD!!! Amen🙏
I've heard David sing this live a dozen times, it never gets old, this is the best "spaghetti" ever!! He has numerous CHRISTmas songs that he wrote and you've never heard, they are exceptional!
That is David Phelps (former member of the Gaither Vocal Band) and the piano player is the late Anthony Burger. This was a Christmas special that was recorded in 2000. David was classically trained at Baylor University and is one of the premier first tenors. Check out some of the songs from his time with the Gaither Vocal Band, I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.
I’ve been waiting for you to react to the great David Phelps. There is SO much more to know and discover about David and his more than 25 year career. I just saw him sing this live two weeks ago he still sounds incredible! Thank you for reacting! Love your channel.
Not that you should do it as a video reaction, but the David Phelps "He's Alive" story-telling/singing at a Gaither Homecoming Tent Revival is a Blessing for all of Us who are here in this world walking with Jesus in these seemingly over-the-top crazy days right now. Thanks for recording and uploading YOUR honest reactions on YOUR channel no matter what other's think or comment. Be Blessed Ty, My Brother in Jesus, Amen✝️🕊️
Bill brought together @ 30 years ago the Gospel Music family with his Gaither Family Reunions concerts . There is also Gaither Hour Show on different TV networks , I watch it on Sat at 6pm on RFD Channel. One of the singer I like is Lynda Randal , please check her out.
I can always tell if you're enjoying a song by the hair tugs. We're not celebrating Christmas this year. We suffered a tragic loss, holidays, and birthdays are too much. However, this song is my favorite, and I listen to it no matter how I'm feeling. I have 2 favorite versions, this by David Phelps and one version I can guarantee you've not heard. It's by Tommy Johansson, and it's in his native language of Swedish. I still wish you and your family an amazing Christmas and that you make lots of new memories.
Yeah, no doubt one of the best performances of O Holy Night ever. David Phelps is definitely one of the greatest male vocalists ever. Hope you doing another of his songs.
The men and women sitting behind David Phelps are the Homecoming Friends. They are all gospel singers both solo artists and groups. Please dive into the huge sea which is their music. Too many to mention but a few favourites of mine Guy Penrod, Jake Hess, George Younce, Lauren Talley, Amy Lambert, The Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, The Happy Goodmans, Vestal Goodman, Jessy Dixon, The Hoppers, Charlotte Ritchie with Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Statesmen Quartet, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, Janet Paschal, Gaither Vocal Band, Michael English, Mark Lowry, Ivan Parker, Jackie Harling, Marvin Matthews, Tanya Goodman-Sykes, Donnie Sumner, J.D. Sumner, Bob Cain and Squire Parsons.
Just found your channel and made a response to your video on Barbra singing Holy Ground. In my comment, I had mentioned the Gaithers, and I noticed you mentioned them at the beginning of this video. Check them out - they have written hundreds, maybe even thousands, of songs which are in hymnals around the world. I'm no one, but I enjoy good gospel music that actually means something, and love your channel. God bless.
They will both knock your socks off. David did the rearrangement. Ty, he's not just a wonderful tenor but is a composer, arranger and lyricist. He wasn't hiding behind the door when God passed out talent. I think he was at the front of the line. 😊😊😊
From one of the Gaithers' many "homecoming" shows, but the singer here is the great David Phelps. My favourite O Holy Night is Matthew Ward's (you might well like him, Ty), but this one by Phelps is splendid.
Killed it?! No one can do it like David Phelps. There is one song that people try to cover and really just do "ok" and that's Whitney's "I Have Nothing " that is until David Phelps covers it. He does it in the same key and yes same octave and does it with only a cello and piano! There is no one on the planet like David Phelps! Yep I said it. Check it out.
Finally got around to reacting to the greatest male voice on planet Earth David Phelps. More please! And it's good to see you're well. You crack me up when you said he did a good job two I've never heard anybody do it like that in my life LOL until next time StayWell and popping for fresh
When I was a boy I would hide in a closet and cry when Christmas songs were played because they were so beautiful. I was always taken to my sister in laws family because my parents suffered bad memories of death on Christmas, and I was confused.
Would you PLEASE watch the music video of Sandy Parker singing “A Baby Changes Everything”. Sandy Parker has a beautiful singing voice, just as you found out with David Phelps. IF you do want to watch and hear Sandy Parker singing, it’s the video with a close up with her standing in front of the microphone, so PLEASE show the video. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
I know that you mainly talk about the singer’s voice ranges, BUT I am so happy that you also CHOSE to pay attention to the LYRICS of this beautiful song.
Not surprising, you missed the passion and emotion he put into the song, not to mention the subtle vocal nuance he employed throughout. It's not just 'another Holy Night' to put in your column.
You can always tell when non- Christians react to a Christian song. Also, true vocal enthusiasts recognize this singer is one of the top male talents in history. Easily ranks up there with the top classical opera singers of all time.
I've heard this man in person and i will guarantee if you thought this was great ( and it was ) it would blow you away to hear this man in person. And i know you feel like you gotta always add how you've heard such and such song a thousand times , but all you are doing is turning people off because most of us haven't heard it a thousand times and your ho hum attitude is like deflating a balloon... its a take away . I'm really not trying to put you down and hope you will understand.
Interested to hear what you think of the song 'Let Freedom Ring' by the Gaither Vocal Band, performed in Independence Hall in Philidelphia just after 9/11, and uploaded in 2002. It is not a song you hear often and has some really great 4 person harmony. Imo peak Phelps and peak Gaither vocal band. (Pikes peak on the Rockies mountain range though. Such a fabulous span that continues to this day.) th-cam.com/video/ZVVbSXz7jaU/w-d-xo.html
Multiple of those saints have done gone home to be with the Lord. I only think this version is ok. Knowing how you like harmony, I would have thought they would link GVB's verson. th-cam.com/video/CtUkLbzBjSs/w-d-xo.html
It is disrespectful for you doing a reaction to David Phelps as he gives his heart and soul to a song that is about his Savior to turn away and begin playing with whatever you felt it necessary to reorganize. You are in the wrong business, sir. You should not be reacting to music that mean so much to those who requested it.
THE FACT that you weren't wowed by this version, is the reason i stopped watching your reactions. No need for me to spend time watching your boredom of greatness. Guess I will try again in 6 months.
I just found you and your reaction, and your demeanor appears to be on the sarcastic side. Obviously, your are aware as you felt the need to make excuses and explanations apparently giving you some ,type of free pass but you were up to par in articulating. RED FLAGS went up as I continued to listen while watching your body language as I felt very bad vibes, very cold, like a dark cloud over you with a terrible presence. Then, to make a bit of sarcastic remark about THANK YOU JESUS, that is not to take lightly or jokingly. I was surprised at your 300k subscribers but then again someone has to follow someone as birds of a feather flock together. Happy trails.
Best version of that song period. Wow the control he had from start to finnish. He knew what, when and where to do it through out whole song. Goose bumps! Talent unreal here vocally and as an artist

Yes you could tell the Holy Spirit was on him and he is Anointed and that is the difference between the anointed and the non anointed gospel singers and he is a anointed Holy Spirit gospel singer thank you God for your Holy Spirit amen amen amen amen amen❤❤
no comparison to anyone I've ever heard before....expresses the awesome gift of God to a very needy world!!!!

The man playing the piano severely burned his hands as a little boy. Its a Miracle he could play that well.
HesxAMAZING
Best version ever!
This spaghetti is the difference between eating some that was homemade from an old respected Italian grandmother, or getting it from macdonalds😅
No one compares to David Phelps, no one. He is amazing!

Oh, you should hear Anthony Burger play Exodus!!!
He's the best and this is the best version ever of this song.
I’ve been waiting for you to react to the great David Phelps. There is SO much more to know and discover about David and his more than 25 year career. I just saw him sing this live two weeks ago he still sounds incredible! Thank you for reacting! Love your channel.
This was my first time hearing this. What a God given talent. 💖
David Phelps is world class singer and he loves JESUS and so do I!
Hey Ty, Blessed New year. I listen to him sing that even when it’s not Christmas.❤
love this song, love this version. Merry Christmas to you and your family
David Phelps has an AMAZING voice ❤. Seen him live a few times live.
Enjoyed your commentary, and I get it that this is a week known song, but if that doesn’t move you you’re dead. Much love brother.
I have seen David Phelps with and without the Gaithers. He is fantabulous!!!
Right on! Love the Gaithers man. Merry Christmas y'all and God bless...
I love this song. And he nailed it. So gorgeous!
Not that you should do it as a video reaction, but the David Phelps "He's Alive" story-telling/singing at a Gaither Homecoming Tent Revival is a Blessing for all of Us who are here in this world walking with Jesus in these seemingly over-the-top crazy days right now.

If you want to weep tears of joy in awe, listen to Sandi Patti sing We Shall Behold Him live on the Gaither show!🎙🎶🏆✝️🥇

David is 52 now and still as good as ever
Yeah, no doubt one of the best performances of O Holy Night ever. David Phelps is definitely one of the greatest male vocalists ever. Hope you doing another of his songs.
He has a newer version out now that is just as amazing.
David Phelps. Best version of spaghetti ever!! 🤣

top 5 favorite southern gospel tenors to date

He redoes this song with Charlotte Ritchie. But does it different. He calls it fall on your knees. It's really different than the original.
They will both knock your socks off. David did the rearrangement. Ty, he's not just a wonderful tenor but is a composer, arranger and lyricist. He wasn't hiding behind the door when God passed out talent. I think he was at the front of the line. 😊😊😊

BEST version EVER.
The Gaithers are from my neck of the woods in Indiana. Always been a fan.
When I was a boy I would hide in a closet and cry when Christmas songs were played because they were so beautiful. I was always taken to my sister in laws family because my parents suffered bad memories of death on Christmas, and I was confused.

Check out his cover of 'I have Nothing'.. Best tenors period, anything David Phelps is excellent!
True.I agree. a heavenly voice.so soothing and so uplifting of the soul.
You should check out David Phelps' version of "I have nothing "
Love this version!
Best Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know that you mainly talk about the singer’s voice ranges, BUT I am so happy that you also CHOSE to pay attention to the LYRICS of this beautiful song.
Best version ever! Love David Phelps.
You have never heard David Phelps sing "How Great Thou Art" it is a fun version. It's not your normal spaghetti 😊
Enjoyed your reaction, love David Phelps ! Check out David Phelps singing with his daughter Maggie Beth 'Water'
Not surprising, you missed the passion and emotion he put into the song, not to mention the subtle vocal nuance he employed throughout. It's not just 'another Holy Night' to put in your column.
I feel this version was filled with the Spirit. I am kind of sad that you are cold to it now.
You need to hear him sing "I Have Nothing" 22 yrs later that Whitney Houston sang. It is also amazing.
You should react to My Child is Coming Home by David Phelps. Amazing song. Very uplifting.
You'll not find a better rendition anywhere.
Thank you.
This guy doesn't know what he's listening to. Probably the greatest tenor alive right now.
Beautiful!!
He hit a c sharp 5, few can!
Hershey Bar!! And spaghetti lol! Merry Christmas
Listen to No more night. It’s truly amazing
WORSHIP!!
🙏🙏
Really good

About as disinterested of a reaction as possible. Minimal effort to a pretty amazing performance.
Couldn't agree more
❤❤❤🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I've always thought the way he sings it is sad. Beautiful. But sad. And it just seems to go on~ 🍝😋
What do you mean by sad? Never heard his voice described as sad.
It is one of the greatest versions
But also is Mahalia Jackson's versions
Hey Ty Google and TH-cam have combined efforts to go after specific people who have talked to you know who
Would you PLEASE watch the video of Sandy Parker singing “A Baby Changes Everything”. P.S. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE😊!!

AMEN!!!!!
Awesome song/words that move. . Sad that your reaction was, in some places, mocking and aloof. Just wow....

Your reaction is completely underwhelming. Unfortunately...:(
A great Christmas song for you to react to is "Mary did you know" th-cam.com/video/bXmfkFoX-PE/w-d-xo.html
Would have been a better reaction video if you had paid attention to the video all the way thru, instead of re-arranging something on your shelves.
Wrong. It wouldn't have been better. Dud you pay attention to anything I said in the beginning at all?
When you turned away, I thought you had lost interest and it was over for me. Sorry.
@@wendellnelson1118 you didn't answer my question
When you started talking about Spaghetti, I fast forward to the start of the music.
@@Modern-Renaissance-Man What you said has nothing whatever to do with your disinterested attitude. Shame.

David has been ranked as one of the best tenors. Sadly the pianist died. He died while playing a concert for the gaithers
THE FACT that you weren't wowed by this version, is the reason i stopped watching your reactions. No need for me to spend time watching your boredom of greatness. Guess I will try again in 6 months.

Not much of reaction
Should take a look at Dailey and Vincent, Daddy Sang Bass, Live version Gaithers Tent Revival
You need to quit music reacting
You need to listen to John Barry on this song hes wonderful
Some reactions are worth watching and enjoying … yours is NOT!!! Music and performance wasted on you!
