And Phelps is regarded by a lot of people to be the best tenor ever. So nothing I said was incorrect. And if you dont agree, if you dont think Phelps is very special, then thats on you. I agree with the posts about David singing Oh Holy Night with Bill and Gloria Gaither. One of the best, if not the best version of that song.
David is opera trained, obviously. You need to hear him sing “End of the Beginning” for one. He also sings with the Gaither Vocal Band and often has solos with them. Bill Gaither used to have “Homecoming,” and you can still see reruns of it with a whole room full of gospel singers. We love it!

Let Freedom Ring is perfect for July fourth
Just subscribed. Thank you for listening to a beautiful song done by my favorite singer, David Phelps. David graduated from Baylor University where his teacher suggested he sing opera. How blessed we are that he chose to sing gospel. I have seen and met David many times, and he is a very humble man who loves the Lord, and feels what he sings. May I suggest He's Alive (tent revival one), Heaven's Shore (done during one of his Labor Day Barn Bash), Let Freedom Ring with the Gaither Vocal Band (a few months after 9-11), Song for Sinners, Hello Beautiful, Hide Thou Me with the GVB, He Lives, O Holy Night (green sweater), and...well, any of his music. He mostly sings gospel but has done songs such as Can't Help Falling in Love, I Have Nothing, a few classical ones, and, all I can say is...welcome to the world of David Phelps! I, too, am a Christian, and grew up listening to and singing hymns/gospel music. My grandpa was a minister, so songs of worship were sung frequently when family would get together. I love ending my day with David, my Bible, and my prayers. Makes for a peaceful sleep.

David Phelps is an amazing tenor with an amazing range. The vocal and breath control he has is absolutely breath taking. He did a cover of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing, in the original key that Whitney sang it in. Anything by David will be amazing. He wrote the song Hello Beautiful. It will make you cry and touch your heart. Let Freedom Ring is another song that Bill Gaither only does with David Phelps. Any song by David will not disappoint.

" O Holy Night", "End of the Beginning", "He's Alive", " Mary, Did You Know", and many more. David has sung with The Gaither Vocal Band for many years and been a part of the Gaither Organization as well. He has recorded a few albums that are covers of secular songs too. He is amazing.

I've watched and enjoyed David for 30 years... He truly is a wonderful and humble human being that loves our lord God... He worships while he sings or at least that's what it looks like... This man gargles with holy water... That's how good his voice is... He was classically trained at baylor university in Texas... I always love to hear me some David...

And because you mentioned Whitney Houston: He has also a fantastic version of "I have nothing" - only Whitney was thad good in her best times (before drugs and alcohol destroyed her voice)! Youve only just begun the best rabbit hole you can go on. David is a member of Bill Gaither's Vocal Band, and that group has some of the most powerful vocalists in any Genre. Bill Gaither and his Wife Gloria are arguably a couple of the best songwriters alive with many many,songs that have been sung in churches for Decades. I know of at least 2 that are in the Baptist Hymnal. Family of God, and Because He Lives. Bill sure knows how to put great vocalists together. David also has children who are great singers and musicians. I reccomend you listen to David and his Daughter Maggie singing Water.
The man smiling is Bill Gaither as in Bill and Gloria Gaither who wrote Because He Lives, Precious Memories and other amazing Gospel songs. David sang with them for years before going solo.

I'm glad to see you found David Phelps ... I was getting ready to recommend him to you when I came across this video. This song was recorded at one of Bill Gaither's "Reunion" concerts. The "choir" is actually made up of several Southern Gospel Groups ... The Booth Brothers ... The Nelons ... Signature Sound ... The Collingsworth Family ... all outstanding ... and most would have performed at this concert also. I watched all of your reactons to Sidney Christmas, and I often imagined her and David belting out a tune together.

Well, if you like gospel music and harmony then you've come to the right place. David Phelps once sang for a group called the Gaither Vocal Band. Bill Gaither founded the group and discovered some amazing talent back in the day. The genre was mostly Southern Gospel quartet style music but his band could get pretty contemporary too. David is widely known as one of the finest tenors to sing gospel music and has drawn the attention of many outside the genre as well. His music is well worth delving into but if you never listen to another song of his, you MUST listen to his live version of Oh Holy Night with the gaither homecoming crew. He'll blow your socks off!

Glad you discovered David Phelps, in my opinion THE PREMIER tenor on the planet. 'No More Night' gives me the chills every time I hear it - and that's a lot of times, believe me! You gotta hear his "O Holy Night' version. He covers all the sacred/gospel favorites, style and arranged with his own flair, but his own compositions are amazing as well. Try "Fly Again" and "Eventual Healing" for instance. I could go on and on . . .

This is the Gaither Vocal Band. Mark Lowry is a baritone and comedian who was also a part of the Gaither's . He wrote a Christmas song that has become a staple today. That song is "Mary Did You Know". There is a video on TH-cam of the first time he introduce that song to the world at a Gaither event. David Phelps was one of the 2 backing voices along with Guy Penrod.
Great video, you just earned a new follower for sure! I stumbled on this video by chance, as I’ve been a devoted fan of David since he started singing with the Gaither Vocal Band back in 1998. I truly believe he is a gift from God to us all, and when I listen to him I can’t help but think God is giving us just the tiniest glimpse of what’s to come! You are obviously a skilled singer yourself and your musical critic is spot on. But what really won me over with you is your courage to to use your platform here and provide a brief, but impactful witness at the beginning of this video.
