This song was the opener and she was at the piano playing and the piano came out from the bottom of the stage and rose 20 ft in the air. Priceless!!
Poor choice on a Live Version. I've found that when introducing someone to a new band or song the studio version is best to start with. Go to live versions later and sometimes never. Some artists can't pull off live versions well.

And with this particular video, the technically issues they had with the male vocalist's mic fucks up the song. I've heard this song enough that my brain filled in the male vocals, but hers won't do that so she misses a big part of the song. And just like the OP I'm not saying live performances are bad, like the Black Label Society: Alcohol Fueled Brutality live album is amazing all the way through. And its the same with covers and remixes, always listen to the original first if possible.

"Singing" instead of "Screaming". Lots of directions to go from there. Ballads. Alternative that isn't metal. Pop Rock. Classic Rock in general. Definitely still a wide variety of options. Though if she likes Amy Lee's voice specifically maybe check out Seether's song Broken which features her.

Videos like this are why I think it's generally best to introduce someone to a song using the studio version. The sound tech wasn't even paying attention to the mix until halfway through the song.
Actually, this song was originally different. It did not have the rap style. When the band was offered a signing, they were told they had to add this. The band walked out. They slept on it and reconsidered. You may want to have her listen to Halestorm.

I was 13 when 'Fallen' came out, but I thought Evanescence was actually a Pop singer named Evan Essence, because I had been exclusively listening to Pop and Rap up until, and including at, that age. So, I didn't know anything about rock music. I was over a friend's house though and her copy of 'Fallen' was playing while we gamed on N64. I asked her what band this was, and she passed me the CD, and I was like: "HOLY SHIT.... REALLY!!!!!!!!!? THIS IS SO DIFFERENT FROM HOW I INITIALLY PERCEIVED THEM, BUT THIS IS AMAZING TOO!".

I think you should also introduce your daughter to especially Halestorm with Lzzy Hale and probably Pretty Reckless as well I do not remember the lead singers name but they are actually a bigger band and halestorm they have a female lead singer and they are a hard rock group.also look around on TH-cam there are videos of both Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood seem hard rock songs in concert as well that will just shock you how about their talents

my suggestion is to keep her listening to one band tell her what kind of genre it is what kind of music they are playing and what is the concept of the song, if she like the mellow part of a song try sticking to alternative rock with female vocals. there are bunch of mellow sound with solid part songs in alternative. after that try to introduce her into metal. but take a note that metal has a lot of sub genres I suggest to start with metalcore, it has clean voice and solid part which is a balance taste for someone who is new to this genre. still try to stick into one band because everytime she hears the same vocal and the same band her ears will eventually sync on it. trust me. i did it with my wife back then now my wife knows a lot of metal bands than me haha! :D. cheers mate! stay safe!
Along with Bring Me To Life I'd recommend Going Under(it's quite dark though),My Immortal(play the video though it's beautiful), Sweet Sacrifice (also dark, but really good vocals)they have a lot of good songs though. It's hard to choose just one.

Glitch, she enjoyed the video. First, she identified with the singer. Second, she enjoys more melodic songs. Third, she is still a girly girl to a degree. She likes something with a little hip hop bounce but melodic. I would say to tell her not to worry about what her friends think about the music.

Yeah not all live performance are great. I think they should do the music videos first, then revisit the live performances later.

@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia I can relate to that, I have a younger sister who found Unforgiven by Metallica to be highly unpleasant and headache inducing but even she likes Evanescence a lot. The song is suggested is actually a bit more on the ballad side of things, not particularly heavy. But keep doing the good work man.

Glitch, she enjoyed the video. First, she identified with the singer. Second, she enjoys more melodic songs. Third, she is still a girly girl to a degree. She likes something with a little hip hop bounce but melodic. I would say to tell her not to worry about what her friends think about the music.
Ya, I hate that she worries about her friends, but is what it is right now at that age. I assume that will change as she gets older, but yes, this one did resonate pretty well with her.
