Long gone are the days when you could get a classic mini for a few hundred quid!
Looks like a good solid project car and as others say you can buy all parts. Good luck with it.

That cover goes over the belt for the alternator. You also have the cover for the engine compartment fuse box (the thing you’re wiggling), sat in front of the air filter box. That slides on, over the top of the large green fuses.
Check connections to the starter motor - there’s a wire going onto there with a right angle connector that often gets corroded and breaks.

Yep that was the wire that was not connected properly. Check out the other videos. And see how I do at the mot lol thanks for your help man

my view is that cars / or tools , are an extension of yourself , i extend that further as my cars [ 2 minis restored] are made by my own hands . its always a pleasure to drive them and that they work !

Any mini for that price that isn't completely rotten is a good deal imo. Every single nut and bolt can be bought for these. You can even reshell into a fibreglass shell. I remember when I had one their was a company who sold every single part so you could basically build one from scratch. They are fun little cars. Still miss mine.

From the opening sentence - it's gonna be interesting! 😁

Definitely worth the money but will cost you a few quid and a bit of time. Looking forward to updates.
The clutch is probably the slave cylinder stuck or maybe even the clutch disk seized on the flywheel if it’s been sitting around. Should be easy fix 👌🏻

Rust. Every Mini suffers from some level of corrosion. The good news is that every last nut and bolt is easily available. It looks like you have a decent starting point though, it looks complete. The engines are pretty tough so it will most likely be something fairly simple needed to get it to run. Good luck. Oh, and it will be the most fun car to drive ever.

On further 🔎 yes.ibam missing a floor pan.. so rust is very much present... and got power to the engine. But it is seized solid.. got some pen oil and oil in the bores as we speak fingers 🤞

@@rstv84 Sounds about average. I would suggest using panels for Heritage as they fit. Not the cheapest but certainly the best.

Bargain price, gives you plenty of cushion for your restoration. I see in the comments you have checked your floor pans for rust, another common couple places are the battery box, subframe mounts (especially the rear) and the seals. Minisport have a great guide on common rust areas for classic minis. I also see you've got it running now, excellent news. I suggest replacing the master brake and clutch cylinders. I know you mentioned your tyres but also check out how your suspension is fairing, it will really makes a difference with how the car drives. Miniforum UK is a brilliant place for a helpful crowd of nice mini enthusiasts who can answer any question. All the best

Thank-you so much for your comments the suspension actually looks like it has been replaced and uprated so that's a bonus. I'll check out the forums etc you suggested. Drop a sub and help me out along the way.

You have basically bought a winter Motorcycle! good that its a proper mini although my 1977 has only three fuses so I am not going to be much help to you :)

Looks like all the common rust, check in the boot corners behind the rear lights, and in the footwell corners under the carpet, and if you do need a front end and scuttle, then just buy heritage panels they will fit million times better than any after market panels

  • @dru0pa
    @dru0pa ปีที่แล้ว

As your in the UK the spots you need to look at are the scuttle panel and the closing panel for the scuttle panel, the toe board to the front floor panel, the out sill and inner sill and look around the the bulk head and round the break fluid holder, the a panel and battery box and the below the head lights and where the rear sub fram attaches to the heal board whose are the main spots host of them

Looks like a' Solid car overall= sure some 'rust' but unless you can see thru it . not a huge concern,
Moisture inside - Likely leaking sunroof - Wet back window. Get it dried out more rust will come.
Likely a 1275 = the one everyone wants the most. just the engine lump is worth 1250.here in the US States as is.
Clutch Rock hard= Likely rusted frozen Clutch slave cyl = Cheap = Replace it and the rubber hose that runs to it. = last part could be a rusted frozen master cyl but less likely.
Fuze block = probably corroded connectoins = Clean up well . or broken plastic, Check over thruoughly.
MPI = fuel injected= do have regular falure of fuel pumps in tank. Easy to find replacements.

Funnily enough I’ve just picked myself up a cooper 94’ one. My floor pans were completely shot. So tbh I’d check there.

All that is extremely common rust, wack the front end off, buy a new front end, repair the inner wings, new flitch, new inner and outer sills. Send the doors off the to be refurbished. Make sure the boot floor is solid. Probably weld new floors in. Bobs your uncle bish bash bosh brand new mini

@@rstv84 if they are rusty on the bottoms or need refurbishing, "The Mini Door Company" is great 👍
Give them a quick Google and their website will pop up.
If they are a bit too pricey, JG Welding are a bit cheaper. if you have anymore questions feel free to ask :)
