Hey guys. Never been a fan of deckbuilding and always found it super intimidating. This stream has opened my eyes somewhat and shown that its not that overwhelming. Between this and SkyTear, Covenant is giving me a new appreciation for this side of the hobby.
You guys are the most fun arkham players to watch because you're both really professionally set up and also play the game for the fun of it, rather than try an absolutely min max the game.
Just a note, in case it helps with Flavor: The "Head" is willpower, and the "book" is more like intelligence. Finn has really low willpower. Throughout his life, he had a hard time holding down a stable job or working his way up in the world because he had a hard time staying focused on things. But as you can see from his 4 in the book stat, he's a really smart guy. He ended up as a criminal because he's really bad at resisting the temptation to do cool illegal stuff. This is somewhat furthered by his signature event, which lets him search his deck, which is something the bookish seekers tend to do.
Great video! I liked your process of deck-building, fun and educational to watch :) Well, my AHTCG collection is just opposite with Core-Dunwich-Carcosa, but I hope to catch also with other mythos packs and play some of the investigators you built decks around. Hope to see more of Patrice and Finn :)
Saw this game after watching a Shut Up & Sit Down review video actually while going down a rabbit hole of game review videos. My friend's and I come from Gloomhaven and have been looking for a cooperative card game that rivals the customization that it had and AH completely blew that out of the water. Love this game a lot! Friends and I got 2 core sets, all of the Dunwich cycle, and the deluxe for Circle Undone. Can't wait to catch up on the rest! We are noobs at deck building so thank you for the long video!
Honestly, I think this global pandemic is "helping" with growing AH:LCG. People are looking for solo experiences and this is a great one. I just got a collection of AH and I'm loving getting to go through the story and build my decks. I know I'm not the only one getting into the game right now because of the extra time on our hands. FFG getting a little Arkham series on Netflix would be killer. Integrating the LCG characters into it would be awesome. I could see lots of people getting into the game from there.
Wasn't sure how fun this world be to watch, but it was great! Although you haven't titled that you play the first scenario of a campaign from what I can see and some will miss that. Particularly enjoyed the deck building for Zach, as they're was more explanation of what the possible cards did and what that would mean for the deck as a whole. With Steven's, it was more "this is a good card, let's put it in / this doesn't make the cut, take it out".
I would love to see some more in depth deck building ideas, like the L5R or Netrunner deck building videos. I love building decks for games but figuring out the difference between what makes a deck good and what makes a deck Great is pretty difficult. Especially for a new card games.
This way great thanks. Zach should definitely consider Cornered (two really) for an upgrade. It's in The Boundary Beyond, so you have it, and it's the number one staple Patrice card in upgrades.
Haha. I don’t think it does personally. I think since she’s gated from taking spell upgrades it actually is the only real way to leverage her ok willpower to be an effective spell-slinger. But as I said, it’s an upgrade that merits consideration either way. I also think Patrice’s stat line is balanced partially around it, it’s like using Rook in Mandy, well-connected in Preston, Forbidden Knowledge in Agnes, Fieldwork in Ursula or track shoes in Rita.
I know these are old, but I found a use for colt vest pocket in a fighting scavenging bob Jenkins deck. Run with that, .18 derringer, and the Mauser. The deck is super fun
Just got to the part (3:09:00) where Steven says those fateful words, “Where’s Lita?” Brought out a hearty chuckle and my coworkers are now concerned for me, lol. Question: Why do you guys call the one chaos token a ‘Gas mask’?
I ordered two playmats to play this game. ^_^ I find it tough to teach this game (quickly) to newcomers. And having a playmat that reminds them of how many items they can equip where, should help a bit.
If you don't have actions left, a good thing to do is advance the agenda at the end of the enemy phase, that way if you get enemies in the advancement they won't attack that round.
I don't like enchanted blade when you are also running spells because it also takes up an arcane slot. So if you have enchanted blade out you can only have 1 spell out. Knife or Meat Cleaver would be better or drop those and pick up Wither.
MrThorne I’ve often thought this myself. The baggage mechanic could be similar to the weaknesses although I prefer them being in the encounter deck like in Champions. I see the locations being more broad like the board game and time being a factor like actions and vehicles could shorten it. Skills could be like combat, computers, forensics, persuasion. The setting would also lend it to “bad” endings too with the corps or rich having their way.
Zach should definetly get arcane inniate. Dont let the adding doom put you off. Play it when doom is going to advance anyway or she is easy to kill off before the agenda advances. The fast action to search top 3 for a spell is essential to patrice. Not to mention the spell could be committed for its icons
With the cards you have, do you carry forward Experience points from previous campaigns (if you complete them) or start from scratch whenever you start a new campaign? Noticed Shrivelling was a level 3 card? New to the game so still trying to understand everything
@@teamcovenant I thought it was. It was just because when watching the video and you starting "The Gathering" campaign, there was a level 3 card within the deck. Don't you need to start with all card at level 0 and then upgrade as you go? That's where I am sure I saw the level 3 card anyway haha
I could watch you guys build decks all day. Seriously
Hah, this one was a pretty wild process! Glad to know it. We'll do more of it on stream.

That's really great Devitt. We'll do more deckbuilding on stream.

I've also finally bit the bullet and bought 2 boards, 2 sets of tokens, mythos tokens, and carcosa tokens
Well these are just the best comments. Thank you so much for that. Everyone on staff sends their appreciation!

Like so many of our friends.
Great watching you play. Interesting deck builds. It will be fun to see them evolve.
Smart money says Zach changes that Patrice deck pretty drastically. Also, chance of new packs being bought is high.
definetely agree with you at the end. I just got Arkham Horror after I jumped into Marvel Champions and find out coop card games are just for me.
Hi Team! Thanks again for this great stream. It’s always nice to see deck-building step by step. Made my own during your play, will see you next week!

Great deckbuilding experience.... very useful and very informative....

Welcome Joe! It's an incredible game - you made the right choice. We're streaming it weekly so catch us live if you can!

That's a good point! We'll do more deckbuilding with better explanations in the future. Lots of people enjoying that side of the stream.
I love you deck building. Very entertaining watching your process.
Everyone builds like that, right?!

Word on the street is it makes Patrice too boring and easy - haha!

It looked like a gas mask on the first draw, and that's been the name ever since!

Pro tip here.

Went with Wither!
Really wanna try Patrice Hathaway as sometime. She seems like a challenge.
I'd love to see an Android themed version of the Arkham Horror LCG.
That would be awesome. Cultists vs. Investigators

I’m currently working toward this but with new original IP. If I can just stop playing Arkham, KeyForge, and/or Netrunner lol

Any plans to revisit Star Wars LCG, AGoT 2nd ed or 40K Conquest?
All are worth revisiting! Just need to find the cards.
With the cards you have, do you carry forward Experience points from previous campaigns (if you complete them) or start from scratch whenever you start a new campaign? Noticed Shrivelling was a level 3 card? New to the game so still trying to understand everything
You start a campaign with zero experience and then gain experience after every scenario. Once you complete a campaign, that's the end!

@@teamcovenant you know what, I think I may have answered by own question *facepalm*. I still have a lot to learn with this game!
