There’s a difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation!! I would consider your tattoo appreciation and i am sure most Mexican people would as well.
100%! i want to get the same tattoo because my grandma was raised in mexico. her parents and siblings were born there. i think knowing the history of it is enough tbh.
Yeah to me it doesn't seem like the same thing as getting a native American tattoo for example and the fact she has researched it and got it as a tribute to that aspect of Mexican culture seems like the definition of cultural appreciation. I LOVE Japanese style tattoos - haven't got one (yet) but I do own a lot of oriental and Japanese artwork. I think most people who get Japanese tattoos are doing it out of appreciation too.
what i can appreciate about treacle is that they acknowledge that it derives from mexican culture and doesn’t just move on without explaining anything.
20:58 Oh my gosh, I love the Dubai skyline one so much! The idea is beautiful, but what makes it perfect is that there was a change in the skyline over time, so you have permanent proof on your body of what the skyline used to look like, more or less. It really attaches the tattoo to a specific time, not just a specific place! Idk, I love that so much.
Lauren, this is definitely your “red” shade. You look totally gorgeous and thank you for the tour. I love seeing a woman so comfortable with her tattoos. I’m nearly 60 and have been getting tattooed for the last 15 years. I am so much more comfortable with my body now. Thank you.❤
Just saying’: if you get your sacred heart covered by an actual turnip, you can make it a “jack-o’-lantern turnip” since turnips (and other root veggies) were the original Jack-o’-lanterns in ancient Celtic cultures!
i love how youve made your collection "symmetrical" like the bees on both your ankles, or the heart shaped ones on the back, and the roses on both hands. it brings everything together in a super cute way ^w^
Oh my god the turnip curse is so funny.... I thought she was going to say she asked them to make the new tattoo look like a turnip as an homage to the old one, the fact it was an accident again is too much
Getting moles checked is so important, and it's great when tattoos help remind you of that! I was recently planning to get tattooed on my thigh, already had an appointment booked, and all that jazz. Then the day before, I looked at the spot and became aware that one of my moles next to it had gotten really dark and jagged. So instead of going to the appointment, I had an emergency visit to the dermatologist, and the mole was removed for testing because it did look suspicious. Three weeks later now, I don't have the tattoo yet, but instead a tiny scar and the result that everything is fine. Turns out it was just a little weirdo that caused a big commotion! I'm so glad to have done this, and postponing a tattoo is a small price to pay for your health.
I know my opinion doesn’t matter haha but as a Mexican American, I don’t think you having a sugar skull is inappropriate or offensive at all. A rework would be so cool.
Thanks for giving your view on this 💜 While I understand cultural appropriation can be an issue (especially when someone's being outright offensive or claiming that it's their own invention) I don't see how people can gatekeep things that other people just genuinely love & honor/respect.
Her tattoo gave me the vibe of having much more cultural appreciation than appropriation, but as a white person, I have less than zero authority on the matter.
Coming from a Mexican who isn’t in the US legally. It’s cute and not appropriating. Most people who are offended are white saviors being offended on behalf of imaginary people
A whole hour of the highly awaited tattoo tour! You can tell how much effort was put into making this & it provides so much insights into placements & ageing of tattoo - thank you so much !!! Love knowing all the backstories of each tattoo as well, it was like going down memory lane with you & it was so much fun.
I’ve now been getting tattooed for 11 years, and you were part of my education not long after I started collecting tattoos, which is why I don’t have many lemons lol, so thank you for that ❤
"We Got Cows!" OMG, I LOVE that movie! And only my ex-husband really gets it when I mutter, "We got cows," (complete with the accent) when we pass a pasture full of them. Lol.
I admit I've though of that once or twice when I see cows. We normally say Cows Robert Cows when my brother is in the car because when he was little, Mother was desperate to distract him in the car and we happen to be passing a pasture of cows.
The one we've all been waiting for! I can't get cozy because I'm at work, but I'm cozy in spirit! Also, looking forward to seeing the sacred/cursed turnip that inspired mine! 😂
I love the mix of styles. It all flowes together. I have mostly traditional with a Japanese dragon, and I'm nervous about mixing styles but seeing your mix makes me realize it's definetly possible.
I just want to say as a Mexican I am not offended but I can see how some people might be I suppose??? Don’t be too hard on yourself. I think it’s cool how you appreciate a part of our culture and the art etc Also I really appreciate you taking your time showing pictures of each one. It was so nice to see how many tattoos were added to your body during the phase where i already watched you on youtube. To hear that some of them were done in 2017 is soooo wild to me. Just gotta say "Yippee ki-yay, M** F**" may be something famously said in Die Hard, but yippee ki-yay is also just an American old west phrase. It's in folk music, it's in old western movies, etc. As someone who doesn't rewatch Die Hard a whole lot, I actually wouldn't assume just "yippee ki-yay" was a movie tat.

I actually love the deer skull on your lower back - I feel like with a rework involving some black outlines, it could look good as new! Anyways, thank you for sharing!! I feel like I learn a lot when I watch your videos.
First off, just got to say your outfit is ADORABLE!! Absolutely love it!! Second, I'm honestly so glad that I came across your channel so many years ago when I started getting tattoos!! I didn't know ANYTHING about tattoos and your channel was so informative and nice!! Thanks so much for the awesome advice you give!! And keep it up with the awesome vids!! :)

Loved this! Some really gorgeous pieces here and tbh lean into the turnip… it’s cosy and autumnal vibes 😭 also big up Manchester and the tattoo tea party! A lot of my fave local artists go and I realllly wanna go one day. Hope your health is all good soon❤
I don’t know how long I’ve been watching you, but I remember you talking about wanting to cover your Samara/Graveyard sleeve. It’s so cool to see it all finished.
Thank you for the tour! The video was just right with the talking and information about the tattoos. I am excited to see what you will do in the future with your back and everything. I'm just happy that you make all the content about tattoos and what is a good or bad tattoo. It really helps, also your are so loveable about everything.
I adore all your tattoos & I love the stories behind them. You’re definitely one of my tattoo muses. I have some meaningful tattoos too. Thank you for brining up the courage to post this, i would not be able to post my body in close ups. you are absolutely stunning and have inspired me to get more tattoos, particularly traditional roses ❤
I have been following you since just around the time I moved to Canmore funnily enough. I have been awaiting this video for a while! So cool to watch your tattoos evolve throughout the years ❤🌹
Omg for your lower back deer tattoo, imagine it reworked so it contracts more darkness whit w white highlights then the roses in red similar to your hand tattoo. I really think you could make it more your style but keep the core concept
I didn't know it was Canmore you stayed in! My cousin lives there. Banff and Lake Louise are gorgeous. I haven't been since 2005. I grew up in British Columbia on the Pacific coast and now I live in Newfoundland way over in the Atlantic.
Love that you showed them all. I know I’ve watched other tattoo tours but I don’t remember some. I love twister and the craft! I’m so excited for the new one to come out!
Your content has really inspired me to just go and get that tattoo. I only had one when I found out Holly Astral was going to be in my country at a convention and I followed her because of you. She had a last-minute cancellation and I seized that fish (buffy fans know what's up) and went and got a flash frog. That was in 2018, and we are now in the 'fill the gaps' era of my legsleeve. I've got several other ones here and there but my main focus is my spooky, mystic-skull-rose-animals-witchcraft-cat-black-magic vibe leg. I feel I appreciate my body so much more when there's art on it, I feel like a walking museum! If they weren't so expensive and cost of living wasn't so astronomical, I'd have a lot more. But, you know, responsibilities. Bills.
I've been following you for I don't even know how long somewhere between 5 and 10 years haha. I love your content. I want tattoos badly but am waiting until I can afford what I really want. If you had told 16 year old me I would be 31 with no tattoos i would have laughed. I really appreciate your content and showing the good, bad, the right way, and a plethora of different styles and the pros and cons to them. I know I would have gotten something that I would not still like today. I love all the information you share and I am grateful to you for the work you do! I love your collection of tattoos!
Thanks for putting all the work into this vid! Loved it, love your tats! Just wanted to let you know I’ve been watching your vids for years and still like them, always a relaxing moment.
But what’s it gonna look like when you’re older!!? !??
Rainbow raisin x
😂 she must have a high pain tolerance
😅
Naurrrrrr😂😂😂😂
😂😂think tattoos least of your problems when older....wrinkles and saggy skin 😂😂
I laughed when she said "going to keep this video brief" and its an hour LONG.
Love the tattoos, Lauren!
It was two hours LOL!! I cut it down so so much 😂
I loooove seeing tattoo tours with 15+ years worth of tattoos. I find it so refreshing to see years- healed tattoos.
Hello from Mexico! I dont think there is anything wrong with your Day of the Dead tattoo. There is respect going into it and i think that is key
Agree.
you should cover the sacred heart with an ACTUAL turnip tattoo
You know what….you could be onto something here 👀😂
my friend has a turnip tattoo and it is soooo cute
@@treacletatts A sacred turnip would be extremely funny
Yes, obviously!
Probably would end up looking like a heart. 😂

I have been following you since just around the time I moved to Canmore funnily enough. I have been awaiting this video for a while! So cool to watch your tattoos evolve throughout the years ❤🌹
Can’t wait to be covered some day! Great inspiration thank you 💕
This was fun and I'm feeling inspired. Thank you for taking us on a tour!
I feel you on the chronic illness thing slowing down my tattoo journey 😅 ❤ also I love die hard too its definitely a Christmas movie
This is such a great video! You have beautiful tattoos! The popcorn and slushie is sick!!! Absolutely awesome
Omg for your lower back deer tattoo, imagine it reworked so it contracts more darkness whit w white highlights then the roses in red similar to your hand tattoo. I really think you could make it more your style but keep the core concept
Love that palm tattoo!
I loved watching your tattoo journey. This could have been six hours long and I would have watched & enjoyed every minute. Thank you for sharing 💛
Bills.
i’ve been WAITINGGG for this update!!!
Oh my!!! Appreciate your long time support 🥹🩷
I have a "L" and "R" on my hands too! It's in the Dyslexia font. It's been a life saver!
The camera girl tattoo has matching tattoos with you, too. Flower on the shoulder and a rose on the hand, so it seems fitting!
Thanks for putting all the work into this vid! Loved it, love your tats! Just wanted to let you know I’ve been watching your vids for years and still like them, always a relaxing moment.
I share a love for Walle and the Quiet Place series!!!
I am normally not into neck tattoos, but yours is so beautiful. I love the conposition of it.
Red is definitely your color!that lip color is amazing on you.
I’m excited to hear the stories behind your beautiful tattoos! 💕
