So as someone who owns this model, as well as other rapid safes by hornady, I will say great info on the cylinder lock. That being said, the rfid band IS waterproof I have worn the same one for 3yrs, through swamps, lakes, showers, water skiing, etc. still works, everytime. As far as the lock system being loud, it is., however I'm not worried about someone hearing it, as I have steel doors, steel frame and reinforced jams, a 130lb dog and an alarm, if they hear the lock popping over 128db alarm, I envy their hearing ability.

One benefit the Hornady has over your product is you can actually fit a rifle loaded with a magazine and a red dot. The SecureIT gun storage locker has a depth of 11 inches, and all my rifles with dots measure 12.5 inches. The Hornady is 13.5 depth. So what am I supposed to store, my grandfathers sawed off double barrel? I'd prefer to go with your product for the reasons mentioned, but if I cant fit anything, what is the point.

The original design was done working with military base security forces. They were using EOTECH red dots.
In a horizontal application your rifle should fit as you can place it in at an angle. I'll take a look at and see what we can do to make this work. Thanks for the info. -TK

@SecureItGunStorage I'd literally hold out for a year if you increased your size too that 13in. Is this a realistic outcome?

After watching this video earlier this week, I ordered one of your Fastbox 47 cabinets to replace my Hornady Rapid safe.
Ordered it on Thursday and it arrived on Friday - thank you!!
It is now bolted on top of my 2 Agile 52 cabinets!!!

One of my issues w/those RFID tags is that one needs to either destroy them or be sure the kids aren't able to ever get their hands on them. If an RFID tag is on my key ring, that means no throwing my keys on the counter while I'm home and don't need them. Whatever RFID tag I'm using must be treated as if it itself were a firearm, because essentially it is.

Loud means you would hear if someone was opening your safe. If you need your weapon in a defensive situation, then 3 seconds after you open the safe, it’s going to be even louder.

I agree with the keyed lock. It sucks. But I do wear my watch 24/7. They also sell rings that can be programmed to work with this. I think a lot of buyers just want to keep their kids out of this box and still have quick access.

Can you explain how your cam lock is different and better than the one Hornady uses? I would try your gun box for my AR, but I like the pistol box I already have from Hornady and would like to use the same RFID tags for both.

I have one of the secureit fast safes. After about a year the lock began to slowly turn inside to the point that I had to break into the safe. Luckily I wan't in a hurry to get something out of the safe. I still have the safe but won't use because I can't trust that it will open properly. Maybe the new ones are better but would not recommend the one I have.

I don’t own a Hornady. I have the secureit 52 original. The Chinese Lock failed after 5 years. Now I need to buy another cheap Chinese lock or replace the entire door at 50% of the product cost. Not cool. Too bad it wasn’t a simplex. Although I’m a healthy skeptic, perhaps electronic locks don’t make sense in the age of emp?
->simplex or other mechanical is best

I appreciate all of your knowledge, but if it's 02:00 and ALL of the guns are locked up...folks are doing it wrong. If I'm in bed and the door gets kicked in, there's a semiauto 12ga sitting right next to me, not locked in a safe.

I have my 1911 as my nightstand guns because my kids hands are too small to operate it and use that to get to the locker or my real 40 gun safe, also 1911 is the stick shift of the gun world, kids today don't know to use them because they are not a Glock also ww frequently will do drills in our home, for a security guy he never stressed practicing your plan, what good are guns and plans if they are never practiced

It's so important that people have this information so they can start thinking about security with their brains and not their eyes. If you own guns and you take gun ownership seriously, you need to consider secureit when looking at your storage solutions.

Pretty ironic vid! My secureit agile 52 lock failed after barely five years. They want me to purchase a new one at $74 or buy a new door at 60% of the purchase price of the safe. Lol
I am one unhappy customer. Electronic locks suck. Try to find a box with a cipher lock set or a mechanical combo.

If a thief breaks in when I’m not home they’re gonna get into this. This safe is more for people who just want to abide by the law. I know it’s not a great safe. It has many flaws but a little kid isn’t gonna be able to get into it.

    • @DZNTZ
      @DZNTZ ปีที่แล้ว

Exactly. It’s so idiotic how everyone is all “That’s pickable!” Well yeah, of course. But who cares? If your 6 year old is picking locks you’ve got bigger problems than gun safety. Also the “Hornady makes ammo, they don’t know security”… Hornady isn’t making safes, they’re just putting their name on it.

  • @watchthe1369

Yeah, anything that can be heard beyond the room you are in is not good. I saw some of your stuff when I was in the service and it always worked and was flexible to whatever weapon needed stored with easy access. You also did not milk the system since we could find plastic bins that fit just about anywhere on a retail purchase order if we needed it. No 100$ proprietary plastic bins.

The sooner you realize that locks, no matter made by who or how strong, are just a simple deterrent and with enough time, ALL can be defeated. The illusion of security is merely a feel good measure, the only reason I have safes protecting my firearms is fire and children.

  • @Arkrilok

I wear the band 24/7, it is waterproof and the keypad is backlit. Agree that the barrel lock is trash and so is the housing, I feel like I could crack it with a crowbar no problem.
Also the idea of stealth hunkering down and ambushing an invader much not be the most defensible in court. I’d maybe consult a personal defense attorney before throwing out that kind of advice.
