OH BOY I have a channel you'll like. These two guys called Cinema Therapy actually did a comparison between this movie and Moon Knight and how they handled DID. One guy is a professional licensed therapist and the other is a licensed filmmaker. They ultimately came to the conclusion that Split is a good movie, but definitely not a good source of psychology. Moon Knight while also having good writing is also more accurate to the whole thing of DID and more considerate of the audience who may have it. They even say the therapy scene in Moon Knight was good, even if it was a magical hallucination. They're a really wholesome duo and if you loved how this video reacted to this movie, I have a feeling you'll adore these guys
Cassey was never suposed to be there. Dennis plan was just to get the two girls who put Barry hands on their boobs. That was the trigger for Dennis to come back to light. She only survived because she was "broken" like them
@@EughhBrothereughhI don’t think they were supposed to be the same girls. It’s just the event that triggered Dennis, Patricia & Hedwig to create the Beast to protect Kevin. Neither Claire or Marcia seemed like girls that would do that. They actually kind of went out of their way to show they weren’t mean girls like inviting Casey to her birthday party even though they weren’t friends, she didn’t want to hurt her feeling by leaving her out. And she also talked her into having her dad drive her home. What those other girls did was pull a cruel, humiliating joke on Kevin.
@@EughhBrothereughh i think Hedwig says that Dennis choose those girls for a reason, like if it was premeditated. M Night always put dialogs that complete unseen scenes in his movies. (Sorry my bad english)
@@Adrianne519 i found very interesting the dialogue between doctor Fletcher and Dennis (who was pretending to be Barry) and she mensions the two girls incident. I think that was the way m night show us the link between the decision for those girls and Dennis.
Kevin pays his respect to his father just before transforming into the beast because his father died in the same train 15 years ago where only David Dunn survived in Unbreakable.
Split was so tightly lip-sealed that no one knew it was connected to Unbreakable until everyone saw the ending. If you haven’t already seen M. Night Shyamalan’s Sixth Sense, then it is a must.
Underrated D U O L O G Y, as far as I know there's only two movies. Glass? Never heard of it, imagine seen it. Was out this year? Imma google It right now.
I remember seeing this in the theaters. I was legitimately scared for those girls. That was real-life terror, including Casey's flashbacks. Just that section of the movie, I really wish Shyamalan would make more films like that. When I first saw the final scene of the movie, I threw my fist up in the air and said, "UNBREAKABLE!"
Just saw James McAvoy in real life today. He visited Belgium for our Comic Con and did a Q&A with us. Seriously genuine good guy, you see the way he acts himself that he loves his fans and appreciates them. Also very funny guy to, laughed a few times at his answers. I saw this movie when it came out, I think it’s his best performance ever.
To be fair he only cycles between 4 of the personalities and the others only get a brief cameo, but still impressive that he made the main ones all feel distinct and unique from each other
I think the scariest scene is when Hedwig dances for Casey. It’s filmed in such an interesting and unsettling way, the unpredictability is what makes him so threatening in that moment. It’s funny but frightening. And yes, JM is great in this role. He’s doing fearless work. FYI I read in an interview that MNS told him what he wanted JM to do in that scene, like ‘just do a dance’ and JM came up with a story that he ends up doing, telling the story thru the dance.
One of my favorite movies, hands down. James was so freaking amazing in this. Patricia is my favorite identity. The Village is my favorite M. Night movie. A lot of people think it's terrible, but I love it.
@@nebulous8389 I didn't mind the ending. You could see it coming. I still wonder why they hadn't just made a commune instead. They still could've done their own thing, but had modern conveniences. But, I guess that was kind of the point of choosing that time period, to not be involved in the modern life and horrors.
When he said " your heart pure, the broken are the more evolved" I broke down crying. As a SA/abuse survivor who self harmed hearing that felt cathartic, intense feelings of shame washed away in that moment and i wasn't expecting it to be such a emotional moment.
I'll never forget being in theaters to see McAvoy's performance, totally blown away by his performance, and then getting chills hearing the Unbreakable music kick in and realizing that they are connected. This movie is such a gem. Everyone nailed their roles! Amazing reaction and review! Btw, check out ATJ in The Queen's Gambit.
when i saw this movie in the movie theater, i had to tell some people to stfu cause they were making fun of hun wearing a dress, like people do have split personalities, like imagine how they have to deal with that every day. i love him at an actor and he played this role so well.
I love the details they put when the changes personality. Like when Henrick (the kid) is trying to push the girls he can’t, but when he changes to Dennis, he pushes both of them putting all their weight like nothing.
Yes it was because in Unbreakable, Bruce’s character bumps into a mother and son and in his head he hears “No Mommy, Please No” which is the son begging his mom to not hurt him. Bruce’s character turns and looks at the mother as she walks away. It was clearly a young Kevin who was the son.
Yes! Have been waiting for this one to drop here on youtube❤ James McAvoy is Utterly Amazing in this film, he so should have gotten an award for this performance❤ This is the movie I discovered Anya Taylor-Joy and I loved seeing Betty Buckley (Carrie & of course Eight is Enough) You Guys are Awesome❤❤❤
Awe, my favourite of the Unbreakable trilogy! James McAvoy really did deserve an Oscar for this movie. The first movie "Unbreakable" and the last "Mr. Glass" are also very good!
He has been subbed by the Oscars several times! He should have gotten one for The Last King Of Scotland & Atonement! And of course this film as well! He is honestly one of my favorites actors & has always been SO underrated!
And here is my favorite actor: James McAvoy. He is FANTASTIC and so, so underrated. He is such a magnificent actor in everything he does. And James as a person is also so charismatic, and has the bluest eyes to ever blue.
This was a good movie! M. Night is well known for his supernatural stories with twist endings. What makes this film exceptional is that not many realized it was a sequel to 'Unbreakable' at first until it was shown at the end. Not many movies can pull off that surprise factor every time. If they did, we would go see them much more often. P.S. - Please check out & react to 'As Above, So Below' when you get the chance. It's a good scary movie to watch.
And when you watch it knowing the twist, certain hints pop out loud and clear. The best one is probably the colour symbolism, with Casey slowly going from red to green.
Yeah, how McAvoy didn’t win all the awards for this is beyond me. I LOVE his performance. I also really love the doctor and how they portrayed her as someone truly wanting to help and understand, and had valid things to say…which a lot of times is not the case in movies with psychiatrists.
This was such an incredible movie, and the most mind blowing fact that nobody saw coming was it opened up as a continuation of Unbreakable. Some even viewed it as a sequel. So incredible.
No one saw it coming! How brilliant was it to have this be a sequel to a film that came out at least 10 years earlier!! And Shyamalan wanted to make this much soon but it just never was the right timing. There’s actually a scene in Unbreakable where they show a Mom being very aggressive with her son at I believe a baseball game & that was supposed to be Kevin, he planned for that! But luckily he did wait because if he hadn’t he probably wouldn’t have gotten James & he is what makes this film!
Scary flick. Everyone knocked it out of the park! I hope this means you'll be watching Glass next!!! I'm curious on your thoughts. And Anya is terrific! You must watch Queen's Gambit!
Fun Fact: Originally the concept for The Horde was almost introduced in Unbreakable as another villain, but didn't have room, so he saved the Horde for this film.
him working in the zoo is where the beast comes from because the doctor said that the trama he used to go through is what made the personalities so dennis has ocd because his mom and the beast got the idea from the animals like thick skin like a rhino and he runs like a tiger and the dad died from the train accident from unbreakable this move is so good
I saw this a long time ago and felt exactly the way Steven did its a masterpiece. I'm glad someone finally reacted to it. The mind can find ways to heal or cover up trauma you've gone through in a way to allow you to carry on a so called normal life and not give in to the negativity that could come out of traumatic experiences.
Split is one of the movies that feed you with a spoon full of information, tense, and compeling world-building EVERY SCENE. not mention the absolutly brilliant acting! as green stroy maker i dont know if the genre and overall story is the one i asked.. but it proofs with the right adoptation, and ALOT of great work i just cannot be ignorant to a masterpiece in front of me. left me astonished
I love The Village because the twist you expect doesn't come and it's totally different in the end. M. Night does such an amazing job with twist endings.
James McAvoy should have won an award for his portrayal in this movie. Definitely will injustice done to him. He's acting skills in this movie were superb!
If I recall correctly James got the role very late, whomever was supposed to do it pulled out. It’s even more impressive to know he didn’t have a lot of time to invent each personality
I'm sure it's been said but, now you've got to watch the 3rd film Glass. I was SO pleased when I saw you were watching this film :) .. one of my faves x

Arguably The Sixth Sense had way more mainstream cultural impact, but Split imo is up there for best Shyamalan movie, if only for McAvoy's acting. Glass fell flat for me sadly, but i can't deny that Shyamalan has no problem of going for his vision, for better or worse. At the very least it's always interesting to see what exactly he's come up with.
Boys and girls, get ready because here comes one of the best performances in cinema, from the expressive master, James McAvoy. The film is very good, but James' performance is the icing on the cake.
'The Queen's Gambit' is probably the best thing that Anya Taylor-Joy has done (and she's done some great work). BTW, you don't have to know anything about chess to really enjoy it. It's one of my favorite limited series ever.
James McAvoy absolutely killed it with his phenomenal performance. Really looking forward to your reaction to "Glass" - the last in this trilogy. It's a shame that people have to be told this is part of a trilogy as the twist at the end of the movie happens to be that "Split" is in the same universe as "Unbreakable".
Betty Buckley (the psychologist) is a Tony Award winning actress/singer, and has been nominated for Emmy and Grammy Awards. Ms. Joy is, also, good as a drug addicted chess champion in a tv series (someone, please, help with the title). Another performance of an actor playing multiple characters is Noomi Repace in What Happened To Monday. Not as good as this performance, but, very good. Instead of one person with multiple personalities, she plays seven identical sisters, each with different personalities.
Really loved you 2 addeessing the "oh i wouldve done this" complaint that people often have in movies that have insane situations that in all actually no one knows how theyd react until they are forced to.
James McAvoy is absolutely mesmerising in this film, like you can't believe your eyes. The entire film could easily have failed hard or ended up looking comedic, but he more than nailed the role, he took it to the next level. Not only that, the cinematography by Mike Giolakis is amazing as well (he also did It Follows, US, and the series Servant). I highly recommend you watch Glass as well. This whole trilogy is very underrated!
When I saw this on my feed I could NOT wait to see your reaction! Only wish you had not edited out that she exposed the Uncle to the policewoman and was not released to him
I don’t know why McAvoy didn’t get nominated for an Oscar. A performance that strong deserves recognition. …change of subject… you have probably heard of that movie that came out this about the A.I. doll “Megan”. The original film was called “Morgan”, starring Anya Taylor-Joy as the A.I. living person. Megan was such a slap in the face to the whole cast and crew of “Morgan”. I really suggest you check her out in that. It was the first film that I saw her in and WOW! What an introduction!
The Bruce Willis appearance at the end was a shock, because what people miss now (when we can stream the trilogy back to back) is this came 16 YEARS after Unbreakable and was not hyped as a sequel. I cant think of another movie that waited 16 years for a follow up.
What I love (as a philly boy ) with all M night Shyamalan movies is how they are all in or around philly, I remember when I first seen this when dr. Fletcher met him outside I knew right away. That was the Philadelphia zoo. 😂
I remember seeing this in the theater, and you could tell who had also seen Unbreakable by the scattered gasps when the Unbreakable music started towards the end of The Horde's final scene, and when Bruce Willis appeared and name-dropped Mr. Glass. Also, not-so-fun fact: There was an alternate ending where instead of the whole mirror thing, it shows Kevin on a rooftop watching over a school, and the dialog the personalities have among themselves basically implies that he was about to terrorize and probably kill a bunch of kids. Shyamalan decided to change it later because he decided it was "just too dark."
I legit started crying the moment her abuse and trauma were realized and that The Beast showed her that she was so much stronger because of what she endured. That she WAS pure because only the pure get broken. So powerful
People with DID have said, and experts, that this isn't accurate of many things including what it is or how it works, but esp since they arent violent. However his performance is phenomenal, gorgeous performance
Split is awesome. James McAvoy is a phenomenal actor and he deserved an oscar for that performance.
True but the academy is bias and the fact that Val Kilmer never won an Oscar shows you they suck
@@nebulous8389 Part of that is you know they can't give it to some people TOO early. DeCap is owed several, for instance.

Glass didn’t work for me
@@MT-si3bu I loved it.
Cassey was never suposed to be there. Dennis plan was just to get the two girls who put Barry hands on their boobs. That was the trigger for Dennis to come back to light. She only survived because she was "broken" like them
barry hand on their boobs? i'm confuse
Wait were they them? I thought it was different girls
Night Shyamalan’s Sixth Sense, then it is a must.
underrated trilogy , unbreakable , splitt , glass
Glass started strong then fell apart at the end. It was supposed to be a strong ending, and was just flat.
Glass was aweful it’s a shame since spilt was so awesome
I'm gonna ignore the inclusion of glass...
Underrated D U O L O G Y, as far as I know there's only two movies. Glass? Never heard of it, imagine seen it. Was out this year? Imma google It right now.
Everybody still crying over glass
I love the irony of Nikki shouting at the old lady who is shouting at the people on TV. “They can’t hear you!” Indeed. 😊
I remember seeing this in the theaters. I was legitimately scared for those girls. That was real-life terror, including Casey's flashbacks. Just that section of the movie, I really wish Shyamalan would make more films like that. When I first saw the final scene of the movie, I threw my fist up in the air and said, "UNBREAKABLE!"
when i heard the score to unbreakable is when i figured it out..way before seeing bruce :)
I don't care what anybody says, Split is a good movie period! Definitely one of M. Nights best films
It’s definitely top 3 for me! This, The Sixth Sense & Unbreakable! Sorry, not a fan of Sighs.
@@Adrianne519What about Glass
@@_Yombo I love that one too!! It’s also up there
Imagine getting a main role in a movie and then finding out it's 24 roles. What a great actor it takes to take that on.
To be fair he only cycles between 4 of the personalities and the others only get a brief cameo, but still impressive that he made the main ones all feel distinct and unique from each other
Only other actor I've seen be able to do something like that is Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black. So much talent between both actors.
@@djrulez66537
I’m sorry but Nikki saying “that’s why I used to be scared of baby monitors” made me laugh so hard 🤣
Oh, there's an outtake of him switching between all 23 personalities and is amazing
The acting by James McAvoy was insane in this movie. He was criminally snubbed! Stellar performance.
James should’ve won an award for that acting in all those personalities that he was able to do.
One of my favorite movies, hands down. James was so freaking amazing in this. Patricia is my favorite identity.
The Village is my favorite M. Night movie. A lot of people think it's terrible, but I love it.
I loved the village until the crappy ending.
Theyre just proving themselves to be insecure and pathetic man just pity their desperation for daddy's approval
such a great film and incredible acting by James McAvoy
The moment Patricia entered the room the whole big cinema hall feel silent in shock. 😂
I love the details they put when the changes personality.
Like when Henrick (the kid) is trying to push the girls he can’t, but when he changes to Dennis, he pushes both of them putting all their weight like nothing.
The ending was not meant to connect to unbreakable, it was a tease for the Glass movie.
James McAvoy performance in this movie was beyond incredible
“Damaged people are dangerous…they know they can survive…”- Josephine Hart
Yes! As Above, So Below is one of the better found footage movies. Also recommend Grave Encounters.
And when you watch it knowing the twist, certain hints pop out loud and clear. The best one is probably the colour symbolism, with Casey slowly going from red to green.
One of my favorites. ❤
I got a quote from this movie tattooed.
"The broken are the more evolved"
“The broken are the more evolved”
That line has always stuck with me
Y'all gotta watch MORE M. Knight Shyamalan movies: "The Village", "The Happening", "The Lady In the Water" (MY favorite), ad "Glass"!
30:18 "Now its closed, now its open." Love that part.
James came to set and SHOWED TF OUT....like GEEZ he KILLED it
You need to watch "Last Night in Soho." That is another great thriller starring Anya Taylor-Joy!
YES!! It's so good!
And Matt smith is in it!!
with thomasin ❤
James McAvoy has magnificent range.
The fact that his performance didn’t receive an Oscar nomination is criminal.
There arent many actors out there now that could sell a complex character like this and James McAvoy was a fantastic choice
him working in the zoo is where the beast comes from because the doctor said that the trama he used to go through is what made the personalities so dennis has ocd because his mom and the beast got the idea from the animals like thick skin like a rhino and he runs like a tiger and the dad died from the train accident from unbreakable this move is so good
James McAvoy was so expressive and a phenomenal actor, made this such a stellar film.
“You’ve got crumbs on your sweater” 😂😂😂😂
In case no one didn't know, the old lady in this movie is the actor who plays the PE teacher from Carrie 1976.
Anya Taylor Joy is also great in “The Queen’s Gambit”. Great miniseries, recommend it
Split is one of the movies that feed you with a spoon full of information, tense, and compeling world-building EVERY SCENE. not mention the absolutly brilliant acting!
as green stroy maker i dont know if the genre and overall story is the one i asked.. but it proofs with the right adoptation, and ALOT of great work i just cannot be ignorant to a masterpiece in front of me. left me astonished
An underrated movie. The acting from the two leads....S tier.
Yeah, great performances all aroubd
awesome reaction, now we gotta watch the finale Glass
I love The Village because the twist you expect doesn't come and it's totally different in the end. M. Night does such an amazing job with twist endings.
I remember watching this in theaters 😊
James McAvoy should have won an award for his portrayal in this movie. Definitely will injustice done to him. He's acting skills in this movie were superb!
If I recall correctly James got the role very late, whomever was supposed to do it pulled out. It’s even more impressive to know he didn’t have a lot of time to invent each personality
I'm sure it's been said but, now you've got to watch the 3rd film Glass. I was SO pleased when I saw you were watching this film :) .. one of my faves x
This movie is so underrated I loved it and McAvoy did amazing in this playing the personalities he's really an underrated actor as well
I love this movie. Jame McAvoy is incredible. You guys definitely want to watch Glass.

I recommend watching glass
When will you guys react to the 3rd movie in this series - Glass?
Arguably The Sixth Sense had way more mainstream cultural impact, but Split imo is up there for best Shyamalan movie, if only for McAvoy's acting.
Glass fell flat for me sadly, but i can't deny that Shyamalan has no problem of going for his vision, for better or worse. At the very least it's always interesting to see what exactly he's come up with.
Man this gives me nostalgia, I remember watching this when it came out. This was an awesome movie
Boys and girls, get ready because here comes one of the best performances in cinema, from the expressive master, James McAvoy. The film is very good, but James' performance is the icing on the cake.
He was awesome
If you love Anya, you should check out The Queen's Gambit. I think it's a series you'll enjoy, and it's not too long.
I tear up on this movie was so great James brought every character to life just wow.. loved ur guys reaction
'The Queen's Gambit' is probably the best thing that Anya Taylor-Joy has done (and she's done some great work). BTW, you don't have to know anything about chess to really enjoy it. It's one of my favorite limited series ever.
McAvoy gave a masterclass on characterization in this one
James McAvoy absolutely killed it with his phenomenal performance. Really looking forward to your reaction to "Glass" - the last in this trilogy.
It's a shame that people have to be told this is part of a trilogy as the twist at the end of the movie happens to be that "Split" is in the same universe as "Unbreakable".
It's kinda similar to what happens in the movie The Menu (also starred by Anya), she is saved because she was different from the other.
The show ur looking for is The Queen’s Gambit
@@HeIsLiterallyMe_ Thx.
16yrs he hid the fact that this was linked to Unbreakable, the end blew my mind when it happened, no way I expected that.
This movie is the reason I crack up every time I hear the name Patricia 😂😂
When I saw this on my feed I could NOT wait to see your reaction! Only wish you had not edited out that she exposed the Uncle to the policewoman and was not released to him
You should also see the movie Glass. Unbreakable, Split and Glass are in the same era.
Megan was such a slap in the face to the whole cast and crew of
“Morgan”.
Tron Legacy?
@@WoodysPickle oh, good catch. That was 28 years between the original and the sequel.
Butt split is a much better sequel
What I love (as a philly boy ) with all M night Shyamalan movies is how they are all in or around philly, I remember when I first seen this when dr. Fletcher met him outside I knew right away. That was the Philadelphia zoo. 😂
I would have loved for James Mcevoy to have won an Oscar for this so we could see him do an Oscar speech using each personality.
That probably would've come off tacky and in poor taste, tbh
The reveal of Bruce Willis as”security” at the end was so freaking awesome, it was unexpected for me and it was a jumping up for joy moment
How James McAvoy didn't get an Oscar for this performance is beyond me. He SMOKED this role.
Absolutely incredible movie. Such a terrific performance.
9:33 the irony being this is how Nikki and Steve make a living… Y’all yell at the TV and they can’t hear YOU! 😂😂😂
I legit started crying the moment her abuse and trauma were realized and that The Beast showed her that she was so much stronger because of what she endured. That she WAS pure because only the pure get broken. So powerful
James also worked on his subtle body postures and movements, to help change the overall stature of each personality.
People with DID have said, and experts, that this isn't accurate of many things including what it is or how it works, but esp since they arent violent. However his performance is phenomenal, gorgeous performance
They diff can be my ex had it and he switched into his violent one and beat the crap outta me and trust he got beat back when he did that and i left
@@Alexisthetornado That's not to do with DID sweetie
