  • In this video I install the C0pperdragon Commodore c128 component video upgrade in place of my MBARCZC modulator on my C128 NEO build.....
***** NOTICE: The misalignment of the component board is NOT the fault of the designer, The C128
Neo i was using has the modulator 1.5mm offset *****

It does nothing to the S-video. You need to use the component cable to see the improvement. I installed one today. Works perfectly. You are right about the length of the ribbon cable being too short.

Nice video, happy that you are enjoying the Neo. Watching this made me go and double check, the fault with the location of the modulator is with the Neo, not with the c0pperdragon board. The 128Neo board have the RF modulator holes shifted by 1.5mm towards the user port, I will fix this in the next minor revision.

What a journey you went on. But what’s important you succeeded and persevered as always buddy. Even I can see those jail bars so must be bad. Composite is they way forward swear by it. Good video enjoyed it

We need a C128 Kawari. That's the long and short of it.

Very nice Neo board . Love the red and gold look .. them Jail bar tho :( .. Altho in games it looked very nice mate ..

  • @retroatx

    I needed this

Nice video Lee! I'm as surprised as You are with this kit; I was not expecting to see jailbars at all; It's not so bad in the game but in the end is it really worth the money, as I can see, it' 's not. Cheers!

I cut the black plastic bit on top of the ribbon cable to make it longer. 👍

  • @joerhorton

I am now considering getting my C 128 flat onto HDMI, glad I didn't go for this.

  • @megatech1966

Dremel a bigger whole and use the component cable to see the much improved video. Your 128neo has a slightly different layout than a original motherboard.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad a out the connector issue. Maybe a rigjt angle connector will work?? I feel your pain when things are disappointing.

  • @retrotechinsanity

Damn, this is kind of dissapointing. I'm about to put one of this in my Neo V4 NTSC machine. Hoping for a better outcome, we'll have to compare notes. Thanks for the vid!

If I did'nt miss it, you did not solder in the required GND connector pins (at the back edge of the board), I do not even know how the digital part of the board can even work at all in this state. Maybe it gets its ground connection somehow back through the video output cable? No wounder the signal looks terrible.

  • @Wikcentral

What if you removed the strain relief? Give you more top clearance and a bit more cable to play with.

  • @VideogameBucko

If you're getting jailbars in the component video output something is wrong. The video out of our machines in testing was 100% clean on the component. Jailbars can show up more on S-video but the product page clearly states this. The same board is used in this video
