    I just got a zoom recently and it's been in the packaging for a week: waiting for this lecture, I guess.
    Thanks a bunch, brother.

    Very useful. I got this recorder from my previous school and they didn’t teach us half the stuff you taught in this video.

    Great info. I've been trying to figure out how to play/record an intro tune from an external source, like a computer, onto my Zoom H6, then switch over to a connected microphone to continue talking all on the same, unified recording.
    I know I could do this if I used software, but I want to learn how to mix and match different recordings from different locations using only hardware (Zoom H6). Your explanation of No. 4 stand alone multi-track recorder, sounds like what I need to learn how to do.
    Thanks!

      Glad I could help! What you want to do is called Overdubbing. You need to connect your next recording to a different input than what you used in your first recording. Go to "MENU"...."PROJECT MENU"......"OVERDUB" Accept and then exit the menu. The track the you recorded previously should light up green. Select the track you want to record your overdub and hit record. Your previous track should now playback as you record your new track. Once you're recording you can balance your tracks. Go to "MENU"....."PROJECT MENU"....."PROJECT MIXER". make your adjustments. Once you're done, you can mix down your tracks to a stereo file. Go to "MENU"......"PROJECT MENU"..."MIXDOWN"..."EXECUTE". Alternatively you can copy your multiple files from the SD card and do your mixing on the computer if you so wish.

      @@princejbc2003 Filming. I was thinking in F6 because of 32 Float, but H6 I can put xlr Y connector with self powered mic and have one channel 8db lower so I have a backup in case. I have the extra xlr adapter to add wireless mics with the built in backup on the capsule.

      @@princejbc2003 the only thing that was a major problem I encountered while using the h6? I’ve only been using xlr cables NOT realizing that I needed to plug in the 1/4” in until it snaps in place. Missed about a 1/2 recording for audio guy wasn’t paying attention 😔 otherwise after I noticed the issue when checking on him, I plugged cables in correctly. Valuable and costly lesson. Fortunately I had some audio from cameras.

      @@gracenmotion2402 that was a costly mistake. I tend to be paranoid about audio so I always make sure I have some kind of backup scratch audio.

    Thank you for clear and engaging video! Quick question: when you replace the front stereo pair with the double XLR input that you mentioned (to get 6 inputs) do the two new XLR inputs have independent input level controls, and are they recorded in separate tracks, or do they just record a paired stereo track - though I guess they could be separated out in a DAW but useful if they recorded onto separate tracks. Thank you.

    • @princejbc2003
      @princejbc2003  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I’m glad it was useful. The XLR inputs are separate and have independent controls.

    • @photonomist6345
      @photonomist6345 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@princejbc2003 Thank you for clarifying. I hadn't been sure that the two extra ones weren't automatically paired as when the provided stereo mic is connected. Appreciated.

    • @princejbc2003
      @princejbc2003  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@photonomist6345 no problem...they aren't paired so you actually end up with 6 separate inputs, each with its own control. That is actually where the name "H6" comes from. All the best in your creative work.

    does h6 have autogain

    • @princejbc2003
      @princejbc2003  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally never use autogain. I don't think the H6 has it. You achieve something similar by using the compressor and limiter functions. But again I would not recommend processing the audio as you record - you can always do that in post.

    The screens are defective in a very annoying way. Zoom will replace the unit for $150, even though a quick search reveals a pretty large number of customers experiencing the same degradation after a short time. I would not buy this product again, honestly probably not buying any zoom product again.

    • @princejbc2003
      @princejbc2003  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is unfortunate. I have not had any issues with mine and I have also had the H4N with no issues. The only issue I have with the design is the screen position which makes it practically impossible to see the meters of you are recording yourself using the front mic.
