As one of the fun coincidences in musical history, I’ve always felt the final tune of ‘Der Mond’ sounds exactly like a proto-version of the type of romantic melodies conjured by Morricone for the sweeter parts in his western scores.

Glad to hear Robert Page's name mentioned.
I was orchestra manager of my school orchestra in undergrad & Robert Page was a guest conductor.
I was fortunate to get to spend a lot of time with him over his week & he was an amazing musician, condutor, teacher, and a sweetheart of a man.
He only conducted one choral work...symphony of psalms 😮

Now that you have shown us, it's time for a video from the overflow room while using the work out equipment 😮

One of my favorite home-rolled triple bills is Die Kluge--Der Mond--Carmina Burana. It's actually shorter than you'd think. Any one of those Greek affairs seem MUCH longer.

Hi Dave, I was wondering what your opinion is of the Michel Plasson recording. Though not a personal favorite, I have always enjoyed Natalie Dessay's performance on it.

Hi Dave, I know my question isn't connected to this video's topic, but what's your favorite performance of Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead? I'm very intrested to find out!
