- Don't let the obscurity of the names dissuade you from listening. In this video, we meet two Japanese masters, and a genius of the French, post-War avant-garde. This is great stuff, ranging from the easily listenable to challenging (but worth the effort).
This is what this channel is all about for me - new names and new music. I'll be listening on my commute tomorrow.
This review was even more random than the reviews you did right out of the box after you moved in.
Love our time with you in the overflow room 😊
I do regret that Naxos seems to have discontinued their Japanese Classics series…they made such worthwhile discoveries that we wouldn’t get to hear otherwise.
If memory serves, Ohzawa also wrote an excellent double bass concerto, no easy task for any composer. It’s available on YT, not sure what label recorded it or if physical product can be obtained at a reasonable price.
Great to learn about these composers! Say, I wonder if you’re familiar with the music of pianist/composer Ronald Stevenson, particularly his monumental Passacaglia on D-S-C-H.
Yes, I am.
I am curious... Do you know about the IMSLP classical music database? It is a great resource!!
Of course. I have mentioned it many times.
