I have the exact same year, car and transmission. no apple carplay issues or phone charger rattle. only minor issues i have is a rare collision warning blip when no cars are in front (clean windshield near sensor fixes this) and auto blip downshifting, which should have been a toggle separated from the drive modes, like an idrive option.
2018 AW 6speed. Stock except for clutch stop. Here are some issues I’ve found: 1. Can’t get rid of the beeping after going into neutral or any gear from reverse unless I start to move forward. 2. The stock shift knob twists left or right ever so slightly (like, one notch) if you move it. Try it. It doesn’t make the shift knob “centered” 3. The instrument cluster plastic screen scratches way too easily. I thought piano black was already bad... 4. Squeaky brakes and excessive brake dust.
Great video as usual. Regarding the interior noise/rattles caused when your exhaust valves are open, as a mechanical engineer I can tell you that what you are experiencing is called resonance. The frequency of your exhaust note once the valves are open is causing the plastics and or metal in your car to vibrate. That is not something that is unique to BMW's, any modified car with an exhaust system will have some level of interior resonance caused by the exhaust note. You can try fixing the rattle of the centre console phone charger by using 3M double-sided tape to act as a dampener between the pieces of plastic. Exhausts interior noise is measured in a unit-less range from 0-7, which is called NVH, Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. Noise is self-explanatory it is how loud the exhaust is, Vibration would also encapsulate resonance and Harshness would encompass Drone. One suggestion I think would be beneficial to your channel would be to shoot your special cinematic videos in 4K since your new camera is capable of that. Fantastic videos as always.
Yeah I’ve got some Adhesive foam that I’m going to try out and I think that that will solve the issue. I had another rattle underneath the rear window tail light and I used some of the foam adhesive and it’s solved the rattling. I would be shooting in 4K but it’s such a pain in the butt to edit 4K footage it takes forever on my computer. So until I upgrade my computer set up I probably won’t be shooting in 4K anytime soon
My only complaint was the seats. That was an easy fix. Got a set of m4 seats in decent condition, took them to an auto upholstery shop and they matched them to my interior with slight tweaks. I did a part of the middle portion in alcantara and color matched the stitching with damn near perfect leather match and it’s so much nicer. I also have an LCI with the executive pack, m performance pack and sunroof. It’s been a blast. I make. 550whp on 93 and for me it is plenty for my road and track car. Now my thrills straight line car c7 z06 with 800whp is when I want to really go fast without turning lol.

For performance upgrades I've done, stage 2 hpfp, lpfp, vrsf 7" fmic, vrsf catless downpipe, turner motorsports carbon intake, ngk sparks gapped, chargepipe, inlet and out let pipe, pure 750 turbo upgrade, bmw m performance exhaust, flex fuel kit. On 93 making 550whp and on e50 blend around 640whp dialed in. As far as cosmetics I went with CT forged carbon fiber kit which includes, psm style spoiler, rear diffuser, sides skirts and front lip, suveneer gts hood, m4 seats with custom upholstery, m2 performance shift knob, bmw performance steering wheel no light with flat bottom, m performance alcantara interior trim and dry carbon pieces. Suspension is still stock until I change my wheel set up but I did do the m2c carbon fiber and aluminum strut braces and m2c steering flash. Sorry I know that's quite the list.

As of now I just need bit more power, so i’m thinking of just doing a stage 1 tune. Do you think it’s worth it or should I install Intercooler, etc and go for stage 2? Much appreciated :)
@Rickr1ck99 I think doing an intercooler, dp and intake( optional) with a nice flash tune will really wake up the car and give you good results. Also upgrade the charge pipe as it's plastic(prone to failure) on almost every bmw.
I honestly didn’t notice much of a difference between the M2 comp and base M2 seats. In fact what I did notice is that the M2 comp seats were actually harder on the bottom and were less comfortable than the base M2 seats. I adjusted lumbar support but it didn’t help with the bottom cushion. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this the case for the m4 seats also? The M2 comp seats look better, but they don’t have adjustable leg support which is very helpful for long road trips. Seems like BMW is cost cutting. Also the leather isn’t any better, but the m4 seats will have better leather. I guess there is a little better side bolstering, but its not enough to actually make any difference on track. If you want to seriously track you’ll need to get a set of recaros regardless. IMO, the only major improvement of the M2 comp seats is the aesthetic.

It's nearly impossible to keep boost up in between shifts on the manual. I you can manage to do it, you're chirping the tires and causing traction control to kick on and bog again.
Hold traction control button for 5 seconds to completely disable dtc and dsc while in sport plus. This enables you to have complete control all the while remaining in sport plus setting.
Personally I don't like sport-plus throttle as it feels like an on/off switch on my manual M2. Buddy of mine has a custom BM3 tune that applies the sport throttle in all modes and it's great. Feels way more linear (like a throttle cable). The lag between changes is an odd one. There's a big thread on Bimmerpost with real testing done. The only way to defeat it is to code out clutch options....which disables rev-matching and hill start. I've mentioned this before but you should really look at Autosolutions SSK. Just ordered mine with a 20% reduction in throw and the gear shift is like a rifle bolt
No comments on the M2 as I do not have one. John, I really like your M2 man and you are a local so, I watch to support but, throughly enjoy the content. I have questions for others in the group. I at heart am an Audi fan boy. I have owned BMW's 08 and 10. I currently have 2020 RS3 and 19 S3 "fun/weekend cars", my daily is a Volkswagen. I am ready to switch out my daily. I obviously am looking at A4, A6, A7, S4 "maybe S6" but, really, really considering BMW 4 series 4 door hatch as the design would be incredibly useful as a daily for my needs. The 4 series seems to offer the convince of the A5, A7 hatch approach in a size of A4/A5 . The 4 series is seemingly a better car , options, equipment, practicality for daily use than the A5 for certain. I am looking at getting low milage CPO 17-19 , 4 series, likely 440. Any advice from owners of 4 series in this group. Should I avoid certain years or motors ect.... Anyone have a 4 series coming out of an Audi A4, A5, A6 ect... that can offer their thoughts on preferences. I'm new to the channel, So bear with me. The steering wheel with the digital RPM lights, has the entire wheel been replaced with an aftermarket wheel, or is it some type of alcantara that includes the electronic RPM indicator that needs to be installed and wrapped around the stock wheel? I'm thinking of an OG M2 now that my MK7 Golf R was stolen and totaled. And I absolutely love the tasteful mods that you have added to yours. Especially your steering wheel setup.
The creaking drives me crazy! As I’m sure you experienced in your f30, the doors tend to creak a lot. My mom has an f23 and her airbag cover on the passenger side creaks like crazy (I’m thinking it’s from not being properly installed after the cabin air filter was replaced?) Also, my screen has turned black before on my f30. It freaked me out haha but it’s only done that to me twice in 3 years.
I own a 2018 LCI 6mt M2. Can entirely confirm the lag/bog between shifts is not ideal, nor is the clutch grab. The comment about turning traction/stability control entirely off - is this not able to be done when holding the traction control button while in sport +? I just wished the auto rev-match during downshift was still enabled when traction/stability control is turned off entirely.

Hey man, My M2 has some of the same issues. When in sport+ the car seems to pull HARDER but in traction control fully off mode, it allows slippage, but seems to allow maybe 20hp less than sport+. I also feel the short delay in between fast shifts. I just thought it was turbo lag since I have stock DP... hearing you have that problem makes me sad lmao My brother’s 435i had the shut down issue with idrive, but my 2017 m2 has not seen this happen not once (had mine as long as you) but I am also not coded at all with bimmercode.
Totally agree with you bro on the sport plus and the need for a almost MDM mode like setting. I wouldn't want the traction fully off because "mustang" mode just isn't cool 90% of the time. it would be ideal to have the some kind of setup as the M2 competition where you can configure your modes to your liking. Definitely no issues with the I drive though I wonder if you have a loose connection somewhere back there?
Did you know you can fit the back seats of the M4 plug 'n play as well? They sell super cheap, at least here in Europe/Germany. Maybe you consider this to complete the interior look. :)
I have a 2017 M2 also and don't haven't any of the rattling issues and my display doesn't randomly turn off but I do agree that its not the best manual transmission. I would still pick a manual transmission again with that said.
Another great video. I def agree with the rattles throughout most of BMW's line up. It s even in my F30 340i xdrive. It happens more during start up in the morning and initial first 15 mins or so esp on rough roads. Def wouldnt expect it from these types of cars. Everyone says oh its the sun roof but ive owned all my cars with sunroofs and only has my bmw F30 rattled like this. My e92 335i and 335is never rattled but who knows. Btw your wheel set up is sick, perfect stance with a meaty tire.
From my understanding you can have your pro tuner set you up with DSC off in Sport/Sport+ mode on a custom tune. With the dsc off the throttle response kicks back to comfort mode.
Have you taken out the clutch delay valve? Might help with the clutch issue you’re having. I took mine out and it’s definitely noticeable the second you get back into the car. Literally my jaw dropped how different it felt lol whole process shouldn’t take more than an hour
Have been having my F87 for 4 years now in November. No single blackout of the iDrive. Since first 3 months of owning the car I have coded the newer "light" idrive version of it and its rock solid. Have your version checked and updated if possible at the dealer
Have a 97 318i and I love my clutch on that especially compared to my uncles 07 328i manual just doesn’t feel as livable kinda it’s smooth and crisp but the e36 clutch and shifter just feels so frickin good to me so satisfying
The car is perfect except for some minor issues which I in countered while tracking the car: 1- when u deflate the tiers before entering the track, the car goes in nanny mode by which the car will only drives in comfort mode. 2- if u turn the traction control completely off it will disable auto rev match.
Yeah, the nanny mode with the tires, I realized that like a month ago when I had a leak. Car went limp. Super dumb. My rev match works with traction completely off. But I have my tune set to have rev match enabled in every driving mode. Are you tuned?
Thic F30 Yeah I used bm3 to enable rev match in all mods. However, the thing with the nanny mode is very frustrating since I track my car regularly. The only solution I found is to contact a tuner to completely disable the TMPS sensors but this will require me to check pressures and temperatures manually.
Hi Mr. Thic 30, your videos are awesome and your car is beautiful. Its natural to have after 9 to 10 months the newness wares off and we start looking at other rides. I would love a Porsche cabriolet but my BMW is fine. The optimum would be able to afford more than one car. Please keep up the wonderful car passion!
Never had an issue with my iDrive. I've got issues with my paint, I'm finding stone chips EVERYWHERE and there so noticeable. The biggest problem I've got just now is my window regulator, got it fixed and the window doesn't sit right now it's been fixed 😑 braking doesn't seem to give a smooth stop feels as if it shudders when I'm stopping. Apart from that I just absolutely love this car and can't bring myself to trading it in!
Does the M2 have a CDV (Clutch Delay Valve)? I know they were on e46's and e90's. First thing I did on my e46 was remove it. Something you may want to look into.
My M2 didn't come with the phone charger but I don't hear any other rattles in my car and I drive with the radio off most of the time. I've had my iDrive turn off a few times but in 2 years maybe 3 times. I agree 100% with the MDM mode, it's so annoying you can't get the throttle response like in sport plus
Also have an M2! (@sapphire_m2) and have experienced the interior rattles and the I drive screen shutoffs! Both have been really annoying... also the sport+ bog is a bit annoying too
Real one!! I dont have your car but i do have a bmw and the rattling sound is present in my SUV especially when i open my valves. when my valves are closed its super quite. I also had a similar issue with my car play just turning off randomly. I brought it to the service center and was told that it was a glitch and they would have to swap it out, but here's the kicker, they wanted me to pay for the swap out. LMFAO. Anyways amazing video and gj reaching to find things yoy disliked.

I see you on the Porsche’s lately, Bentley and Rolls Royce same for me but bmw my favorite car brand forever,, Working on a 2021 m5 built and ordered right new,, I think you got me into apex wheels, never really knew about them like that but might cop some arc-8 hyper silver 19’s for my 3 later, pretty in love with my current wheels right now.
I got rattles near the iDrive navigation (center) position... I do have MPE by the way with stock downpipe. But for my case, my iDrive is not shutting down randomly.
Its not just you man with idrive restarting. I had it do that on me like 3 or 5 times now. I've had my f30 for 4 years now, it started doing all that this year tho. Btw im doing a dp next for stage 2. So pumped!!!
That iDrive thing is not new. That happens on the F30 as well. I suspect it has something to do with the bluetooth connection and some error it can't handle. Its crappy software and they could probably fix, but you know that how that goes.
I drive a Jeep; everything rattles, because many parts can be easily removed. I’ll always be a truck & Jeep person first & foremost. Have a 2020 M2C that’s fun, but really don’t think I’ll keep it for more than 2 years & when used Corvette C8s start hitting the market. Great car in terms of handling, but I miss V8 muscle cars.
I do not have the phone charger creaking. I do not have the iDrive restarting, though I do have FREQUENT Apple CarPlay disconnecting. Apparently this is a common issue for Apple, across car brands, but BMWs are worst effected. I hoped iOS 14 would fix it, but it didn't seem to.
I’m sure. It’s the driving instructor and retired State Trooper coming out. I hate my seats too. I’m looking into a V2 wheel also. Sounds like a software update. Or a head unit module going bad. Happened on my E91 and F31. I coded the Euro MDM in my car. I used E-Sys though.
Not even close to the same system but about 7-8 years ago my brother in law and I both had E60 550. Both our idrive would cutoff and reset just like how yours. Sometimes it wouldn’t even turn back on for a day or two. Super annoying cause those unit controlled everything. The idrive in those model are known to stop working and the dealer wanted 2.5k for a new unit. Hopefully it’s not the same as yours. If you still have warranty maybe have the dealer document your issues. Maybe save you down the road?
hey man im really thinking about buying one of these. wouldnt AEM EMS fix the shifting bog issue and allow you to turn a bunch of stuff off and on? just a thought. im comming from a 98 eclipse gsx modded. i just want something nicer. good reviews man. subbed!
I think it’s a software issue with the iDrive but I’m not sure that there’s a fix. I have the latest software on my iDrive and the issue has happened although very rare. I’ve had it happen probably like 3 times over the course of a year
I don’t feel the last “issue” you mentioned. Can you just hold the traction control in s+ mode for 3 sec to fully disable it? I also drive in S+ all the time and with dsc off. Yes, the MDM turns back on when you switch to S+, but you can turn it off in S+ again. my issue really is the traction and auto rev match have to stay together. I wish they can be turned off separately.
I'm not going to address the clutch take-up because for 99% of the guys out there the BMW clutch stop cures it. Same with the seats, BMW had a budget, just be glad the M4 seat is a drop in, as well as the Comp seat. If all you have is a phone charger rattle, and you're concerned about that, you bought the wrong car. My iDrive has never randomly shut down, ever, although I do wish the intro was an M2... Lag between shifts, yes, it exists, but again, BMW has big brother to protect, and there are things you can do to mitigate the lag. As far as Sport+, few use it compared to Sport because it's too sensitive, and both should have some nanny intervention. I was quite happy to find that BM3 gave me back my rev-matching with everything off, so that's the only way I drive the car. I'm quite thankful for the relatively easy things we can do to the OG M2 to make it truly brilliant. The sport cat for the sound, inlet, M4 seats, cdv delete, MPS, the list goes on. What I would have liked to see is the M2 car on start up, and increased cooling in Sport. Beyond those things, everything else to be changed is just fun.
Odd...I need to check again but I'm pretty sure with my car I can go into sport+ and then hold DSC for 5 seconds and I get the good throttle response without any DSC.

My mount came with magnets as well, but when I stuck it inside my case (relatively thin carbon fiber), it didn't want to stay on the mount, so I've resorted to sticking it on the outside of my case with some vinyl wrap underneath which works really well, but doesn't look the best lol
For issue #4: I have seen the active sound system gone bad and not letting the idrive work correctly, maybe yours is going bad too. I don’t know if you turned that off with bimmer code or if turning it off with bimmer code is the correct solution... because at the end the feature is still there, unless you change your stereo system. Issue #5 on the shifting side: I think thats because of the revmatch feature the car has on all the modes, except when you turn off everything (TC, DSC). Try shifting fast with everything off to see if that lag on response stops. Idk, just throwing some thoughts.
I couldn’t agree with you more on the seats in the M2. For an M-car, the original seats seems like in any normal BMW car. Whereas all the other M models, the seats are way much sportier than the M2 seats.
Yup. Very. N55 came after the n54 (unreliable) bmw focused on making the next model (n55) more reliable. The N55b is even more reliable, using parts from the s55 that are forged and can handle more power..etc
So crazy enough in my old F30 the screen would glitch like that and turn off....and it’s only happened to me once with my F82. But yep, same thing just be driving then boom...black screen. Weird flex BMW but ok 🥴
@@davidaron4700 I think this can be solved with coding. I didn't have a Sport+ in stock. It was coded, along with sport transmission (2TB), launch control and paddle shifters retrofit.
My f30 has done the whole shutdown process with the idrive I was driving perfectly normal and then all of a sudden the screen says no signal so I shut off the car and it worked again didn’t have it after that but my Bluetooth has been really weird lately when I have my phone plugged into the center console sometimes it disconnects and I can’t get it to work until my car is shut off for like 15 mins but when I moved my cable to my cig lighter I haven’t had the problem

its the airvent hatch attaced to the back of our center consule. just pull it apart and lube it up and its dead quiet.
if this works I'm going to be ecstatic, that noise is so annoying.

The lag between changes is an odd one. There's a big thread on Bimmerpost with real testing done. The only way to defeat it is to code out clutch options....which disables rev-matching and hill start. I've mentioned this before but you should really look at Autosolutions SSK. Just ordered mine with a 20% reduction in throw and the gear shift is like a rifle bolt

No comments on the M2 as I do not have one. John, I really like your M2 man and you are a local so, I watch to support but, throughly enjoy the content. I have questions for others in the group. I at heart am an Audi fan boy. I have owned BMW's 08 and 10. I currently have 2020 RS3 and 19 S3 "fun/weekend cars", my daily is a Volkswagen. I am ready to switch out my daily. I obviously am looking at A4, A6, A7, S4 "maybe S6" but, really, really considering BMW 4 series 4 door hatch as the design would be incredibly useful as a daily for my needs. The 4 series seems to offer the convince of the A5, A7 hatch approach in a size of A4/A5 . The 4 series is seemingly a better car , options, equipment, practicality for daily use than the A5 for certain. I am looking at getting low milage CPO 17-19 , 4 series, likely 440. Any advice from owners of 4 series in this group. Should I avoid certain years or motors ect.... Anyone have a 4 series coming out of an Audi A4, A5, A6 ect... that can offer their thoughts on preferences.

I'm new to the channel, So bear with me. The steering wheel with the digital RPM lights, has the entire wheel been replaced with an aftermarket wheel, or is it some type of alcantara that includes the electronic RPM indicator that needs to be installed and wrapped around the stock wheel?

The creaking drives me crazy! As I’m sure you experienced in your f30, the doors tend to creak a lot. My mom has an f23 and her airbag cover on the passenger side creaks like crazy (I’m thinking it’s from not being properly installed after the cabin air filter was replaced?)
Also, my screen has turned black before on my f30. It freaked me out haha but it’s only done that to me twice in 3 years.
I own a 2018 LCI 6mt M2. Can entirely confirm the lag/bog between shifts is not ideal, nor is the clutch grab.
The comment about turning traction/stability control entirely off - is this not able to be done when holding the traction control button while in sport +? I just wished the auto rev-match during downshift was still enabled when traction/stability control is turned off entirely.

My M2 has some of the same issues. When in sport+ the car seems to pull HARDER but in traction control fully off mode, it allows slippage, but seems to allow maybe 20hp less than sport+. I also feel the short delay in between fast shifts. I just thought it was turbo lag since I have stock DP... hearing you have that problem makes me sad lmao
My brother’s 435i had the shut down issue with idrive, but my 2017 m2 has not seen this happen not once (had mine as long as you) but I am also not coded at all with bimmercode.
Totally agree with you bro on the sport plus and the need for a almost MDM mode like setting. I wouldn't want the traction fully off because "mustang" mode just isn't cool 90% of the time. it would be ideal to have the some kind of setup as the M2 competition where you can configure your modes to your liking. Definitely no issues with the I drive though I wonder if you have a loose connection somewhere back there?

I have a 2017 M2 also and don't haven't any of the rattling issues and my display doesn't randomly turn off but I do agree that its not the best manual transmission. I would still pick a manual transmission again with that said.

Another great video. I def agree with the rattles throughout most of BMW's line up. It s even in my F30 340i xdrive. It happens more during start up in the morning and initial first 15 mins or so esp on rough roads. Def wouldnt expect it from these types of cars. Everyone says oh its the sun roof but ive owned all my cars with sunroofs and only has my bmw F30 rattled like this. My e92 335i and 335is never rattled but who knows. Btw your wheel set up is sick, perfect stance with a meaty tire.
From my understanding you can have your pro tuner set you up with DSC off in Sport/Sport+ mode on a custom tune. With the dsc off the throttle response kicks back to comfort mode.

Have you taken out the clutch delay valve? Might help with the clutch issue you’re having. I took mine out and it’s definitely noticeable the second you get back into the car. Literally my jaw dropped how different it felt lol whole process shouldn’t take more than an hour

Have been having my F87 for 4 years now in November. No single blackout of the iDrive. Since first 3 months of owning the car I have coded the newer "light" idrive version of it and its rock solid. Have your version checked and updated if possible at the dealer

Have a 97 318i and I love my clutch on that especially compared to my uncles 07 328i manual just doesn’t feel as livable kinda it’s smooth and crisp but the e36 clutch and shifter just feels so frickin good to me so satisfying
my iDrive shuts off like that when the day is really hot and the iDrive system has been sitting in the sun for a while.

The car is perfect except for some minor issues which I in countered while tracking the car:
1- when u deflate the tiers before entering the track, the car goes in nanny mode by which the car will only drives in comfort mode.
2- if u turn the traction control completely off it will disable auto rev match.
Yeah, the nanny mode with the tires, I realized that like a month ago when I had a leak. Car went limp. Super dumb. My rev match works with traction completely off. But I have my tune set to have rev match enabled in every driving mode.

Thic F30 Yeah I used bm3 to enable rev match in all mods. However, the thing with the nanny mode is very frustrating since I track my car regularly. The only solution I found is to contact a tuner to completely disable the TMPS sensors but this will require me to check pressures and temperatures manually.
I would immediately code out rev match. I bought a manual to shift myself for a reason...

Never had an issue with my iDrive. I've got issues with my paint, I'm finding stone chips EVERYWHERE and there so noticeable. The biggest problem I've got just now is my window regulator, got it fixed and the window doesn't sit right now it's been fixed 😑 braking doesn't seem to give a smooth stop feels as if it shudders when I'm stopping. Apart from that I just absolutely love this car and can't bring myself to trading it in!
For me I think the biggest thing is the stock seats.
Does the M2 have a CDV (Clutch Delay Valve)? I know they were on e46's and e90's. First thing I did on my e46 was remove it. Something you may want to look into.

My M2 didn't come with the phone charger but I don't hear any other rattles in my car and I drive with the radio off most of the time. I've had my iDrive turn off a few times but in 2 years maybe 3 times. I agree 100% with the MDM mode, it's so annoying you can't get the throttle response like in sport plus
Also have an M2! (@sapphire_m2) and have experienced the interior rattles and the I drive screen shutoffs! Both have been really annoying... also the sport+ bog is a bit annoying too
Real one!! I dont have your car but i do have a bmw and the rattling sound is present in my SUV especially when i open my valves. when my valves are closed its super quite. I also had a similar issue with my car play just turning off randomly. I brought it to the service center and was told that it was a glitch and they would have to swap it out, but here's the kicker, they wanted me to pay for the swap out. LMFAO. Anyways amazing video and gj reaching to find things yoy disliked.

Its not just you man with idrive restarting. I had it do that on me like 3 or 5 times now. I've had my f30 for 4 years now, it started doing all that this year tho. Btw im doing a dp next for stage 2. So pumped!!!

That iDrive thing is not new. That happens on the F30 as well. I suspect it has something to do with the bluetooth connection and some error it can't handle. Its crappy software and they could probably fix, but you know that how that goes.
N55 is more than enough for this car, but S55 is not that much more expansive for 2nd hand

I drive a Jeep; everything rattles, because many parts can be easily removed. I’ll always be a truck & Jeep person first & foremost. Have a 2020 M2C that’s fun, but really don’t think I’ll keep it for more than 2 years & when used Corvette C8s start hitting the market.
Great car in terms of handling, but I miss V8 muscle cars.
My only drawback on M2 is too small in size for me & also I can’t afford it for now 😛. Currently I just stick with my 2018 330i M sport for daily.
I do not have the phone charger creaking. I do not have the iDrive restarting, though I do have FREQUENT Apple CarPlay disconnecting. Apparently this is a common issue for Apple, across car brands, but BMWs are worst effected. I hoped iOS 14 would fix it, but it didn't seem to.

I’m sure. It’s the driving instructor and retired State Trooper coming out. I hate my seats too. I’m looking into a V2 wheel also. Sounds like a software update. Or a head unit module going bad. Happened on my E91 and F31. I coded the Euro MDM in my car. I used E-Sys though.
Not even close to the same system but about 7-8 years ago my brother in law and I both had E60 550. Both our idrive would cutoff and reset just like how yours. Sometimes it wouldn’t even turn back on for a day or two. Super annoying cause those unit controlled everything. The idrive in those model are known to stop working and the dealer wanted 2.5k for a new unit. Hopefully it’s not the same as yours. If you still have warranty maybe have the dealer document your issues. Maybe save you down the road?

I think it’s a software issue with the iDrive but I’m not sure that there’s a fix. I have the latest software on my iDrive and the issue has happened although very rare. I’ve had it happen probably like 3 times over the course of a year
I don’t feel the last “issue” you mentioned. Can you just hold the traction control in s+ mode for 3 sec to fully disable it? I also drive in S+ all the time and with dsc off. Yes, the MDM turns back on when you switch to S+, but you can turn it off in S+ again. my issue really is the traction and auto rev match have to stay together. I wish they can be turned off separately.

I'm not going to address the clutch take-up because for 99% of the guys out there the BMW clutch stop cures it. Same with the seats, BMW had a budget, just be glad the M4 seat is a drop in, as well as the Comp seat. If all you have is a phone charger rattle, and you're concerned about that, you bought the wrong car. My iDrive has never randomly shut down, ever, although I do wish the intro was an M2... Lag between shifts, yes, it exists, but again, BMW has big brother to protect, and there are things you can do to mitigate the lag. As far as Sport+, few use it compared to Sport because it's too sensitive, and both should have some nanny intervention. I was quite happy to find that BM3 gave me back my rev-matching with everything off, so that's the only way I drive the car. I'm quite thankful for the relatively easy things we can do to the OG M2 to make it truly brilliant. The sport cat for the sound, inlet, M4 seats, cdv delete, MPS, the list goes on. What I would have liked to see is the M2 car on start up, and increased cooling in Sport. Beyond those things, everything else to be changed is just fun.
Odd...I need to check again but I'm pretty sure with my car I can go into sport+ and then hold DSC for 5 seconds and I get the good throttle response without any DSC.
What phone case do you use? Looks like it has a built in magnet? I have the same magnetic car mount.
Some generic black case from Verizon. The mount came with a magnet, it’s adhesive and stuck inside of my case

My mount came with magnets as well, but when I stuck it inside my case (relatively thin carbon fiber), it didn't want to stay on the mount, so I've resorted to sticking it on the outside of my case with some vinyl wrap underneath which works really well, but doesn't look the best lol

For issue #4: I have seen the active sound system gone bad and not letting the idrive work correctly, maybe yours is going bad too. I don’t know if you turned that off with bimmer code or if turning it off with bimmer code is the correct solution... because at the end the feature is still there, unless you change your stereo system.
Issue #5 on the shifting side: I think thats because of the revmatch feature the car has on all the modes, except when you turn off everything (TC, DSC). Try shifting fast with everything off to see if that lag on response stops.

I couldn’t agree with you more on the seats in the M2. For an M-car, the original seats seems like in any normal BMW car. Whereas all the other M models, the seats are way much sportier than the M2 seats.

Yup. Very. N55 came after the n54 (unreliable) bmw focused on making the next model (n55) more reliable. The N55b is even more reliable, using parts from the s55 that are forged and can handle more power..etc
You can have sport+ coded to have no nannies and full sport+ engines options. Has to be professionally coded. Can’t do it with bimmercode
So crazy enough in my old F30 the screen would glitch like that and turn off....and it’s only happened to me once with my F82. But yep, same thing just be driving then boom...black screen. Weird flex BMW but ok 🥴

Also works for my F30. Go to sport+, and hold dsc off button for a 5sec, after that you’ll get completely disabled stability control in sport+ mode.

My f30 has done the whole shutdown process with the idrive I was driving perfectly normal and then all of a sudden the screen says no signal so I shut off the car and it worked again didn’t have it after that but my Bluetooth has been really weird lately when I have my phone plugged into the center console sometimes it disconnects and I can’t get it to work until my car is shut off for like 15 mins but when I moved my cable to my cig lighter I haven’t had the problem
