Yeah I remember when they gave similar buffs in psychic awakening. They under estimated the fanatical commitment take as many flamers and metals as possible. The day after the index pre order, they nerfed half the new tricks.
Just a reminder; Strike from the Shadows is +1 BS, not +1 to hit, so it’s actually better since it could stack with +1 to hit. Effectively it will most of the time be +1 to hit, but still figured it was worth mentioning.
This is one of the worst BS decisions GW has come out with, I'd also add the new jumpack assault intercessors only having chainswords and bolt pistols as the next worst design misstep for space marines
Im honestly sick of the constant changes and lack of balance in 40k lately. Seems i never have the opportunity to actually get used to playing a certain way. One week troops are broken, the next they are unusable garbage.. they completely gutted my sternguard veterans..
It's the beginning of a new edition, of course there will be lots of changes. Improvement requires change... and 9th ed 40k was in quite some need for improvement I'd argue.
@@johannestafelmaier0 10th edition doesn't seem like much of an improvement? The game is more imbalanced than ever. There's nothing wrong with change. Some Change keeps things fresh. Full time job for sure! It used to be easy (ish) now I'm not even sure how to go about building a battle forged army. I'm going to inevitably miss something and GW will most likely post a new rules update before I can even finish a game. GW needs to lay off the Adderall
Doesn’t make sense to me that the jump captain can take the thunder + storm shield, but the terminatour captain cannot. While I’m happy for the continuation of the smash captain, as we were lead to believe he was gone forever, I’m devastated to see so many options for a cornerstone unit in the terminatour captain go away. I’m not sure if I want this to be reversed or not, I’d rather have both of my options back, especially considering the termie captain release was to come with a hammer and shield option, and the jump captain wasn’t. I hope I’m not the only one who doesn’t like losing flavor and customization. James, fix it, please.
As someone who has invested a lot of captain positions in my chapter to chonky bois with bonk sticks i am very saddened by this. Why are priamris so allergic to holding hammers?
Absolutely love the dedication here and keeping the community updated. Really helps keep the strategic juices flowing and imagination going. Content like this is such a boon for the hobby. You treat this as a job and passion, it shows.
I see how being that level of a dick to your opponent would be really exciting. Instead of making a balanced list that might be fun to play against. Make sure each of your dreads has its own tech marine too. Just for maximum douche baggery.
I also just realized that Deathwatch Veterans and Proteus Kill Team can have characters leading them if the character can join Vanguard veteran squad. But there's no longer Vanguard veteran squad, so there's no characters at the moment that could join those squads.
Will probably just be changed to "if can join tac squad, intercessor squad, ect" Will hopefully be FAQ'd, if not, think most opponents will understand and house rule it until then
Well, so much for my terminator captain with hammer and jump captain with inferno pistol. But hooray, the jump chaplain can take a bunch of weapons that no model comes with
I’d prefer it if all the data sheets were like the chaplain so that I could just convert them, rather than being restricted to whatever GW feels like releasing

I heard from a few places that in addition to getting gutted the Hammerfall bunker is also keyword Vehicle now despite not being able to move or transport anything (BGNT) makes sense, but instead of having it get autowounded on 2's by anitvehcial weapons just say it can shoot in combat with a rule like defensive arrary etc. I swear they don't read their own rules sometimes .
The main combo I see for Rigid Discipline is having something chunky like Termies or Aggressors rush onto an objective with a character giving them the 6+++, use the strat and stay in range of the objective, and then rain hell on them with Battle Drill Recall, then charge whatever remains. Also depending on the timing of Not One Backwards Step, you might be able to bump up the OC so you keep ahold of said objective. Gut feeling would be having a Gravis Captain with a Biologis lead a brick of Heavy Intercessors. Their weapons are assault so they can get out there faster, heavy for the +1 to wound, and Unyielding helps to keep them alive while on the point. They're not good in melee, but the volume of fire is pretty good.
You know what would be amazing for Stormlance? Imagine a concept where a librarian or techmarine or apothecary could ride a bike? It’s novel and never seen before I know…..but imagine
Ya, right now ONLY Dark Angels and Space Wolves will get any use out of that whole detachment. Gladius is much better option if we want to advance/fall back and charge/shoot without getting locked to the one, frankly bad, bike unit.
Very mixed opinions on this. Some weird design choices, like why can’t apothecaries be in tacticals sqauds, and why did they nerf a already weak unit by getting rid of the fall back and shoot for tacticals? Like honestly I get GW wants people to play Primaris, but they come across as dishonest in their intention with rules. Either cut First born entirely at this point, or accept that people like the Mark VII and Mark VIII and just make new models of those. If Horus Heresy can do new mark 3 designs I don’t get why GW can’t here.
I think they're eventually going to make Primaris versions of both the Tactical and Devastator squads. I'll never understand why they didn't just do that in the first place.
@@Calvin_Coolagetactical squads are apparently really popular model sets. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot by ending their run before demand has died down
As a Space marine player I'm kinda confused about how many nerfs this codex brought. It wasn't like we were winning everything. We arguable needed a boost rather than a nerf. I suppose this could be fixed with codex-wide points cuts, but that makes SM more hord-y than I feel is correct. All-in-all I'm not thrilled.
Yeah it feels like they were worried about SM being meta warping when they printed the codex only to find we were on the border of a bottom 5 army, then bumped up to 47%. The rules look fun, but the Oath of Moment nerf looms.
Between yourself, table top tactics, winters & the art of war crew, I feel utterly spoiled for quality 10th edition content. 👏🏾 Edit: So. No thunder hammer and shield for a *Captain in Terminator Armour*. GW. *WHY*?????????????????? Literally just finished magnetizing the Leviathan captain the other night. This feckin sucks man.
Man, I just feel that GW could just say (in the lore) that FB marines are updating their armour to a MK X variant and just let people say that their army is a "upgraded" first born army Instead of just axing the OG marines like they were nothing
I am so pissed off for the Terminator Captain losing his Thunder Hammer And Relic Shield. I recently finished painting mine using kitbashed BG Captain Shield and Wolf Guard terminator Thunder Hammer. I feel like i just wasted a ton of money and hours on that model just to have it denied when the codex comes out.
Give it time, GW will probably release a variant captain that has those rules sometime in the next few years, just like they did with the Lieutenants. Hell, if nothing else they'll probably use a variant Lieutenant with that load out eventually. In the mean time you have an extra fancy sgt or need to talk to your opponent how they feel about legends. ..or ya know, Play 9th, or 1 page rules. Theirs options.
I’m hoping for an assault terminator captain model release… I have a kitbashed twin lightning claw captain that is now no longer able to be played… unless I demote him to sergeant I guess
Wolf guard terminator squads are expected to combine shooting and assault, so they're fine as is, at least until next year, if any changes do happen, which they may well not
As an Imperial Fists player, pretty annoyed at this. The detachment pretty much doesn't work as you have to move in 10th and our key epic hero got nerfed. So with the nerfs to Oath added in we've been given effectively nothing... Thanks GW.
Imperial fist = stationary defenders. I think the Anvil Siege Force detatchement reflect that doctrine very well. If you dont like it, you can always play with another detachment rule.
You don't have to move everything. I think how it's gonna play is by maintaining very scary unit with heavy keyword and very long range of action, like eliminator/supressor/repulsor to cover objectives and stay with the gravis on it
the 1st company task force would be more tempting if it just got old oath of moment for all 5 turns. wouldn't even be better then some of the other detachments.
Always an exciting time having new possibilities. Thank you for going over all of this. I'm a little concerned about actual strength on the tabletop. I hope power creep doesn't just crush what we got in six monhs. I guess we'll see and get some buffs if we need them, *eventually* .
why didnt they just let tactical squads keep hit and run? and let them run squad sizes of 5 instead. instead of taking that rule away from them for combat squads. thats not a buff.
Instead of getting a bump like every other army will when their codex release we get significant nerfs. And when divergent chapter codex release they will have units deleted. Bottom of the pile.
Thanks for the review. IMO the main issue with the 1st company task force is the main detachment rule that give nothing except for one turn. All other detachment give something for the whole game and sometime an extra for a turn. 1st company has only the extra. They should have add something like every veteran unit crit on nat 5 instead of 6. So people would have play with all those special weapon the veteran have.
not only does it give something once, it's literally against one unit. CSM can get full rerolls on a unit, with double strat from a lord, every turn for 5 turns. So yea, first company are clearly untrained morons lol :P
Gonna drive up to my next match with my Iron Hands "Feirros' Limo Service", windows down, and Boys Are Back In Town blasting on full. Looking forward to having Lethal Hits on my Astraeus.
I have really mixed feelings about this codex. I like the flavour.. but the nerfs make no sense. Also whitescars detachment is incredibly restrictive, lost opportunity. Ravenguard, Ironhands look really fun
Yeah SM has been getting nerfed like they're a top 5 army, amirite? At least Sternies weren't really seeing play in the new lists much. They *really* need a points cut, now though.
One thing i love about this, is now i can dip into every army with all the speciak chatacters. Lets me represent different sects of my chapter with some converted company masters who suspiciously look like other space marines
Question? Please, which points are the correct ones to play Space Marines? The Digital App points, the codex points or the community munitorum field manual points? Thanks
Razorback + devastator squad with multi-meltas seems interesting cuz of the re-roll wound rolls ability especially in the Salamander detachment where their St 10 witch should mean that they can vaporise the Ork truck list and other lighter vehicles/elite infantry like terminators
This codex absolutely sucks. Packed with nerfs, lessened options on models, and just general meh rules. I JUST finished a Terminator Captain with a Sword/Shield? NOPE can't equip shield GW strikes again. I will absolutely not be buying this garbage.
@@Colston3 I just checked and what the heck happened??? Every razorback used to have that gun, am I going crazy or something?? I am looking at my current razorback and I know that the assault cannon I put on it was included in the box
The fact is, Gully Boatman's codex was written on toilet paper. The fleeting rule changes for space marines are obviously GW playing with stuff, but in-law it's that blonde haired creep that keeps saying things do, or don't, exist anymore. The codex, the thing that we have to defend soooo religiously only to find it kick us in the ass every time a new edition comes out. It's hard to play a loyalist chapter these days when up is down, black is white etc etc. GW has turned me traitor again, not surprised tbh, I play Dark Angels.
Hoping when the multipart kit comes out for the Infernus that they can take the beefy pyreblaster the sternguard get (that and Sgt can take hand flamer).
That Stormlance Task Force does look way more appealing and fitting for the Space Wolves than the index one. Might tempt me to bring back my TW-Cav that had been collecting dust since 9th. A Captain on a Thunderwolf giving out free "Shock Assault" or "Ride hard, ride fast" sounds scary. Maybe leading a big unit of 6 with hunters instinct and plow through the enemies backline.
I can't believe the Primaris Jump Pack Captain is FINALLY coming out and I STILL can't have anyone leading my Inceptors... Still holding out hope for a Gravis Jump Pack Captain. Oh God that sounds too terrifying they're never making that are they?
After the tyranid and then this codex somehow GW has made me go from hyped for rules releases in 9th to dreading every time their eye turns towards an army.
Gw expected marines to be bonkers op, while nobody of them care about eldars, when they were printing this- expect hard faq and balance patches. Hah. But I would say one thing - gw did not forget about the flavor. Thanks them for that. I hate index rules so much as I like new codex ones when we talk about spirit of the chapters. Btw. Iron hands are op again and salamanders are the strongest basic chapter. Guess wolves can use Scars stuff better, before we would get khan and scars refresh. I would wait Ba codex later
Man, I kinda regret basing my chapter gimmick around thunder hammers now that basically no characters can take them anymore. Gonna have to proxy them all as power fists.
@@thekrokoo Yeah, Gorillaman has certainly been nerfed a lot recently and the 10 Terminators you can take instead of him look more tempting than before. He was almost an auto-take at the beginning of 10th, but nowadays has fierce competition.
Hey, sorry the slide was a copy-paste from the index, I didn't realise they'd had the old wording for Oath of Moment on there. Afraid he's got the new wording now, so just re-roll hits. I've posted a correction comment above.
Shield of the Imperium will also be nice on Eliminator Bolt sniper rifles, strength 5 but with +1 to wound and precision. Hitting on 2s and having damage 3. Much better for character killing.
Sternguard Focus might very well be one of the worst special rules in the game. A *bunch* of units have generic re-roll 1''s, with full re-rolls if a certain criteria is met. Now Sternguard gets re-roll 1's *if* a certain criteria is met, otherwise they have nothing. Also RIP Hammerfall Bunker, utterly useless now unless its pointcost isn't cut in half...
I gotta say I'm probably sold on the Anvil Siege Force more than most. It's super situational, but I really like the Fleet Commander enhancement. It seems like it'd be very much dependant on the enemy army you're fighting which is a pain. And of course as always the problem with it is even on a 3+ if your enemy fans out and you only get one or two units there's a good chance you might still not roll 3+ or you might roll 1 on the MW roll. All that said, I do quite like in theory the idea of using it to break up castles, mess with vehicle and infantry deployments, or deter charges or force melee withdrawals from enemy units. I think it's utility will mostly be in scaring the enemy more than actually damaging them.
Anvil Siege Force with two units of las Eliminators forward deployed plus Oaths, and Battle Drill and some character buffs could get pretty nasty. Real chance of popping a key bit of armour, like an important transport, on turn 1. If the Phobos Cap still gives redeploy you can also move them to safety if you don't get turn 1.
with the Oath of moment Nerf would it be worth considering unlocking guillimans oath ability to allows two targets at once instead of one after the other maybe?
Question!!! The Jump Captain. Is his relic blade S6 or S5? If it really is S6 then it would be nice for some kind of consistency with the other models that use that weapon…..
The Imperium Magazine issue 5 captain STILL does not have a legal wargear loadout that matches the weapons the miniature is visually equipped with. What is so game-breaking about plasma pistol + MC Power Sword?
I'm so glad I spent several hours kit bashing and spending hundreds of dollars on ebay to make my squads and characters exactly what I wanted per their allowed options just to have GW say they are illegal builds for no apparent reason.
They could bave done a strat for the not-ifs detachment 1 cp maintain the benefits of heavy while moving. Would have solved the restriction for one unit per turn and been a lot better than one of the niche ones.
man, this makes me sad. Pretty much all nerfs. A couple things like terminator sgts being able to take fists and aggressors hitting on 3s are nice but man space marines were already a sub 50% win rate army and this looks to me like a big ass nerf to the faction.
Auspex Tactics, can you check Roboutte Guilliman datasheet? Am afraid in new Codex they didnt let him reroll wounds - you have copy/paste old datasheet , new one doesn't allow to reroll wounds ;(
I just realized... it's more important than ever now that they FAQ how Enhancements are supposed to work in Crusade. As it stands, you're allowed to take any enhancement from any detachment you have access to, but it doesn't say what happens when you pick a detachment other than where the enhancement comes from. Do you have to leave the guy at home? Do you just ignore that he has the enhancement? Or do you get to use the enhancement in another detachment? It was a minor deal in the indexes because Space Marine "Special" Chapters were the only ones with access to multiple detachments, but now it's a much bigger deal that they still haven't answered.
What are peoples thoughts on chainfists for termies? not at all. put on everyone, or mix? The anti vehicle 3+ seems real nice, but the 4+ to hit could be too big of a drawback. Also on the brutalis dread claws or fists? Personally even with twin link i think this dread should have gotten something else in melee to give it more punch over the other dreads or even the warsuit. I'm personally leaning towards claws just for coolness factor.
I like it overall The only thing that I don't like is oath of the moment getting nerf when we look at the old détachement. Blood Angels are one of the factions with the worst win rate atm and they just get a big hit on the face without compensation. I don't see any reason to choose the sons of sanguinus détachement. I would be fine with the oath nerf if something would compensate for it but as of now I'm a bit disappointed
I see Tor got nerfed and is still the same points. Thank you GW very cool. I know there were probably sooooo many people complaining about how strong he is 😂
I can understand your pain. Guilliman has now been nerfed FOUR times since the beginning of 10th edition. 1) Massive points jump 2) Devastaing wounds not spilling over anymore on his sword 3) change to the free CP strat only being Battle Tactics 4) Oath of Moment change
@@owenhouck5281that's only one direct nerf and three indirect nerfs which affected all of the line, two of which are universal, and one being faction based. I hardly call that rowboat gorilla man being nerfed. Not one core bit of him was truly removed and the points increase on him was highly justified at the time. Now? Not so much Tor garadon lost lethal hits but kept the price tag. Basically useless now. "Ignore cover"? Pshhh.

STOMP STOMP
yes it's even better for BA, which is a pity lol
Vulkan will love the Command Squad, throw in a Lt and it will be a very tough nut to crack.
Suppressors hitting 9 autocannon shots on 2s?!?!
Yes please
The terminator captain not having a thunder hammer is the dumbest decision. Wtf
My sternguards vets are all brooding now thanks to this stupid ability change. Why must the sons of the Raven lord suffer so!!!
There is something wrong when balance sheets, points adjustments and rules changes come so quickly and frequently that it's almost a full time job to keep up with them..
Gw are on crack and meth simultaneously it would seem
There is no valid reason we should have lost the options on either model

As a SW player, Im actually quite excited to play a list consisting of a single tech marine, 9 dreadnoughts (including bjorn) and canis rex.
Oh you mean space wolves I was so confused I didn't know what star wars had to do with this
I see how being that level of a dick to your opponent would be really exciting. Instead of making a balanced list that might be fun to play against. Make sure each of your dreads has its own tech marine too. Just for maximum douche baggery.
1 techmarine, Bjorn, 3 Ballistus dreads, 3 Venerable dreads, 3 Wulfen dreads, 5 wolves and Canis Rex is exactly 2000 points.
I also just realized that Deathwatch Veterans and Proteus Kill Team can have characters leading them if the character can join Vanguard veteran squad. But there's no longer Vanguard veteran squad, so there's no characters at the moment that could join those squads.
Correct. Needs an FAQ. Hopefully they change it to stearnguard amd we get apothecaries 🎉🎉🎉
Even Lieutenants? That'd be odd.
Will probably just be changed to "if can join tac squad, intercessor squad, ect"
Will hopefully be FAQ'd, if not, think most opponents will understand and house rule it until then
Waiting for Vulkan to come back is getting impossible.
Well, so much for my terminator captain with hammer and jump captain with inferno pistol. But hooray, the jump chaplain can take a bunch of weapons that no model comes with
Thinking a new Jumpack Chaplain kit will be on the way with a divergent chapters codex release
I’d prefer it if all the data sheets were like the chaplain so that I could just convert them, rather than being restricted to whatever GW feels like releasing
@@darko-man8549 100% agree, every Army should be able to have this! Having viable loadout options with weapons profiles having some balance through number of attacks and different profiles wouldn't be so hard

I used to watch it and leave it on for my dog when we first adopted her. It actually helped relax her.
Wow, alot more nerfs than I would have expected.
read the detachments: marines are reeeeally stronger now
@@antrodeldungeonmaster Not sure about that tbh. New detachments are good and varied, but you trade out on full wound-rerolls from OoM and a bunch of units got nerfed.
Marines probably got more fun (due to more options in playstyle), but I doubt we'll see them skyrocket in terms on winrate.
Most likely thanks to those other armies not into vanilla codex but able to access all of our toys, such as the Blood or Dark angels, the Deathwatch or the Space Wolves...
Marines can have some fun now... in non meta games, when meta armies just would kill them by first turns. as always was. want to know the truth? marines players are the most loyale to their faction and easy-going on others, when other just want to WIN EVERYTHING AND PUNISH YOU. khe khe eldars.@@antrodeldungeonmaster

Well I'm glad they changed the Sternguard rule BEFORE I bought a couple boxes. That was nice of them!
We are all Salamanders now.
Kinda sad that the Contemptor dread is gone. It was a cool model and personally, I think it looks a lot nicer in design than the redemptor.
They REALLY axed the contemptor? After giving it rules in the index?
@@lohikaarmeherra-1753 As far as I'm aware, Relic Contemptor, which is the only one that can be used in 40k, has been moved to legends.

You know what would be amazing for Stormlance? Imagine a concept where a librarian or techmarine or apothecary could ride a bike? It’s novel and never seen before I know…..but imagine
Dark Angels currently have an Apothecary on bike and a few editions ago you could take a librarian and tech marine on bike and it was awesome.
i was being facetious:'D basically saying "why are there not rules for things that should have rules!"@@Stillfrosty_Gaming
Ya, right now ONLY Dark Angels and Space Wolves will get any use out of that whole detachment. Gladius is much better option if we want to advance/fall back and charge/shoot without getting locked to the one, frankly bad, bike unit.
As a dark Angel player I’m just gonna ignore the whole “captain in terminator armor losing the relic shield” thing
Hell yeah
I mean just about all my marines got free results with DA
Very mixed opinions on this. Some weird design choices, like why can’t apothecaries be in tacticals sqauds, and why did they nerf a already weak unit by getting rid of the fall back and shoot for tacticals? Like honestly I get GW wants people to play Primaris, but they come across as dishonest in their intention with rules.
Either cut First born entirely at this point, or accept that people like the Mark VII and Mark VIII and just make new models of those. If Horus Heresy can do new mark 3 designs I don’t get why GW can’t here.
Shelf space in their stores.
I think they're eventually going to make Primaris versions of both the Tactical and Devastator squads. I'll never understand why they didn't just do that in the first place.
@@Calvin_Coolage I don't think they will, they'll just unceremoniously remove them from the store one random day.
Edit:
So.
That’s what is happening. They just aren’t saying it because it’s detrimental to marketing.
That would conflict with the last 100+ black library books.
Ask any opponents if they have a problem with you using the loadout, as in, applying the rules from Assault Terminators?
Give it time, GW will probably release a variant captain that has those rules sometime in the next few years, just like they did with the Lieutenants. Hell, if nothing else they'll probably use a variant Lieutenant with that load out eventually.
In the mean time you have an extra fancy sgt or need to talk to your opponent how they feel about legends. ..or ya know, Play 9th, or 1 page rules. Theirs options.
%100
I think how it's gonna play is by maintaining very scary unit with heavy keyword and very long range of action, like eliminator/supressor/repulsor to cover objectives and stay with the gravis on it
My thermic reactor is pulsating with excitement! 14th can't come soon enough.
the 1st company task force would be more tempting if it just got old oath of moment for all 5 turns. wouldn't even be better then some of the other detachments.
And as I read the "Legendary Fortitude" strat I hear my entire Death Guard scream "WHAT THE FUCK" from their place in the shelve
At this Point its just mean
Instead of getting a bump like every other army will when their codex release we get significant nerfs. And when divergent chapter codex release they will have units deleted. Bottom of the pile.
They keep trying to make Battleshock relevant but the fact it only lasts til the end of the initiating turn keeps it near useless
Seeing the nerf to the Hammerfall Bunker, I just know Bunker Guy(tm) is absolutely punching air rn
This all looks very restrained, balanced and conservative. I think this bodes very badly for it's place alongside future codexes.
Why nerf the hammerfall bunker like man... fortifications are already bad enough
Shield of the Imperium is pretty brutal on Desolation squad as well! Indirect hitting on twos and superkraks start to hurt bigger vehicles too.
They don't gain +1 wound. Only units that already have heavy.

Thanks
Digital app and Munitorum should both be up-to-date, but will likely be updated when the codex is fully released
Why have they still not given Adrax Agatone Devastating wounds with his thunder hammer?
This has really killed my desire to finish my Ultramarines. Back to Sigmar I go.
Razorback + devastator squad with multi-meltas seems interesting cuz of the re-roll wound rolls ability especially in the Salamander detachment where their St 10 witch should mean that they can vaporise the Ork truck list and other lighter vehicles/elite infantry like terminators
Bye Bye Rhino, i will never understand why Primaris are too stupid to enter one...
This codex absolutely sucks. Packed with nerfs, lessened options on models, and just general meh rules. I JUST finished a Terminator Captain with a Sword/Shield? NOPE can't equip shield GW strikes again. I will absolutely not be buying this garbage.

You can do the same combo for Aggressors with Anvil Siege Detachment: Gravis Captain for "Battle Drill Recall" Strategem and Biologis for Lethal Hits.
Nice to see that Ravenguard get a seemingly good detatchment.
I can't believe the Primaris Jump Pack Captain is FINALLY coming out and I STILL can't have anyone leading my Inceptors...
Still holding out hope for a Gravis Jump Pack Captain. Oh God that sounds too terrifying they're never making that are they?
The plus 1 save for damage 1 weapons on heavy intercessors could tie in nicely with the minus damage strat.

I'm planning to run 20 jump pack intercesors alongside The Lion with the Stormlance Task Force myself
They have carcharodons under “unknown lineage” yet their lineage has been confirmed to be raven guard in the carcharodon novels.

Love that Master of Machine War on a Combi Lt.
Shield of the Imperium will also be nice on Eliminator Bolt sniper rifles, strength 5 but with +1 to wound and precision. Hitting on 2s and having damage 3. Much better for character killing.
Oh they also get the devastating Wounds too as they don't move!
Sternguard Focus might very well be one of the worst special rules in the game. A *bunch* of units have generic re-roll 1''s, with full re-rolls if a certain criteria is met.

oh nice! Was waiting for this video to come out!
Why on earth did Tor Garadon get nerfed? Like why did they remove his Lethal Hits ability?
Relic terminators removed is just stupid-.- buy a box of tartaros done-.-

It's very annoying they take wargear options away from what was in the index. I've just built the Leviathan Captain with a Thunder Hammer 🤬
For the veterans detachment, would an extra pip of OC on sargents have made up for the rather disappointing detachment rule?
What are peoples thoughts on chainfists for termies? not at all. put on everyone, or mix? The anti vehicle 3+ seems real nice, but the 4+ to hit could be too big of a drawback. Also on the brutalis dread claws or fists? Personally even with twin link i think this dread should have gotten something else in melee to give it more punch over the other dreads or even the warsuit. I'm personally leaning towards claws just for coolness factor.
I like it overall
The only thing that I don't like is oath of the moment getting nerf when we look at the old détachement.
I know there were probably sooooo many people complaining about how strong he is 😂
Count your blessings. He could get nerfed and a get a point increase like the certain Nid characters (tyrants) you know...
I can understand your pain. Guilliman has now been nerfed FOUR times since the beginning of 10th edition.
1) Massive points jump
2) Devastaing wounds not spilling over anymore on his sword
3) change to the free CP strat only being Battle Tactics
4) Oath of Moment change
@@owenhouck5281that's only one direct nerf and three indirect nerfs which affected all of the line, two of which are universal, and one being faction based.
I hardly call that rowboat gorilla man being nerfed. Not one core bit of him was truly removed and the points increase on him was highly justified at the time. Now? Not so much
Tor garadon lost lethal hits but kept the price tag. Basically useless now. "Ignore cover"? Pshhh.
