How old am I? I am 25 years old
Where do I go to school? I am a graduate from the University of Oregon with a major in Human Physiology with a minor in Media Studies. I just graduated nursing school in Portland, OR with hopes to go into pediatrics, oncology, or cadiology!

My daughter spent 7 months straight in the hospital (2 years of treatment for cancer) and we had to pay for parking too! Our nurses/hospital staff/drs did as well
It sucks, but not unusual. Charging employees for parking is the new norm. They do it at universities too.
In germany we have to do it too it’s sooo annoying… like we have to park there! What are we supposed to do?? But we only pay 1€ per day… not 15 😱
@@simplyboppingK well I will say, after living in the hospital for over 7 months straight while my daughter battled a rough road of recovery from her BMT, it’s absolutely ridiculous is families have to pay. Our hospital charges $35/day. Talk about lack of compassion.

Glad you had a good first week! I live in San Diego so no snow here, but my parent’s live up the mountain in Big Bear and they got a lot! I just had my final interview at a Children’s Hospital. I feel really good about it and loved everyone I talked with. REALLY hoping I get an offer!🤞

Nice to see you are settling in at your new job Kiara. I live in the UK and we haven't had much snow here this year only a little. It causes chaos on the roads when it does but I love watching the snow and taking walks.

Ok, LOVED this video! I start my first day as a new grad nurse in the Pediatric ICU tomorrow! I live in South Florida so it definitely doesn’t snow here, lol. But I did go to Vail, Colorado in January for a week and that was enough snow for me for a while!

@@KiaraMadisen It was good! ICU is a little intimidating, but taking it one day at a time, lol! And yes! We stayed in Vail Village and it was a literal hallmark movie! 12/10 recommend!
The last post I made on one of your videos was when you were being turned down from nursing schools, and I gave you a list of things you needed to do in order to be accepted. What I love about your path is that you will be working with children. Pay attention to how the kids eyes light up when you walk in the room. Beauty is healing. Pure hearted smiles are healing. The kids are going to love you!

Omg I used to work at OHSU and I remember that parking nightmare! I used to park in the neighborhood by the waterfront/macadam and walk to the bus stop and take the bus to CHH then ride the tram to the hill EVERY DAY to avoid that parking! Haha 😅 thank you for this video and congrats on the job!!
Living in Oregon means I knew exactly when that snowstorm hit, lol...we got ABSOLUTELY NO SNOW in Albany that day, but there was so much snow in Portland that I had to cancel an appointment I had in the area!
I'm hopeful that sunny days are ahead.

You remind me of myself with this snow. I’m from Florida for 32 years. Just got married and moved to SC. His family lives in Wyoming and we have been going about every other year for Christmas and they have multiple feet of snow. The first time I ever saw snow I was 20 in Canada.
Packing lunch food saves you so much money. It's easy to buy lunch for $15. If you do that 5 days a week it adds up. I'm guessing you love the snow. I see them on your Instagram.
I totally agree and I actually like having my own food and snacks always on hand!
we had snow only once this year and it also happened to be my first time driving in snow - not a fun experience, very nerve-wrecking. 🥶

I’m in Northern California and it snowed FIVE times this year. We’re lucky if we get a day. I like the snow a lot if I don’t have to be anywhere because I hate driving in it 😬

For those watching, you actually have up to 3 work days to provide your work authorization documentation before they send you home and stop paying you until you can provide it. But, as a HR person, I appreciate you taking it so seriously. :) Congrats on Day 1 of a lifelong, amazing journey!
The hospital that I work at has free parking. I think it’s mental that they charge you. I’m from Scotland too in case anyone was wondering
In MT, never had a snow day even with a couple feet of snow 🤷♀️
Ugh to paying to park, I have a main job in healthcare where I do 3-12’s then I have 4 jobs I moonlight at and 2 of them I have to pay to park at. One is $20 a day and the other is $18.75 a day. It drives me bananas as well. But it is Seattle so it’s just expensive here lol. I am so here for all the nursing content while you learn in your first job in our field! 😊

Here in Colorado your snow looks like flurries compared to ours. I've been snowed in and had to drive in a blizzard where I can't see 5 feet in front of me. I had to drive 5 to 10 mph. Imagine how long it took to get home. In Colorado, there is no clouds, a few hours later your stuck a blizzard. The weather is crazy out here. You can get four seasons in one day.

Didn't get a whole lot of snow this year but before Christmas we got a lot. Was a real mess. Was a mixture of snow and ice. Not a fan of snow and the cold weather.

Hello Kiara. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what is happening with Portland and it's decline. My father has lived there for a very long time and I've visited him quite often and grew quite fond of Portland and it's beauty. My dad said he has finally had enough of what's going on there and has up and moved to Phoenix which is shocking to me because I knew how much he loved it there. Have you had thoughts on leaving? It as snow but it does not stick to the ground 😢😢 I love snow
I'm an outside provider that goes up to the children's hospital pretty often for specialty clinics. For the big snow storm I got out pretty late and my little car couldn't make it on the hills coming down so I had to abandon it (in a safe place out of the way) and then walk for almost 2 hours 💀 the intersection from the road to the hospital and that goes towards the backside of the village was insane. I almost got hit by a car when I was on the sidewalk. So many wrecked cars...
No way. What a wild night that must have been. I will say I felt SO lucky my class got out at 4 because I heard so many people got stuck and had to spend the night at the hospital. I swear when the big storms come they give us no warning!

Most companies for the W9 you don't need a passport just a driver licenses and social security card. Maybe the place you work at has a different policy.
Mine would take either the passport or social security card so I just had to find one of them 😂

No snow in New York this year
I live in northeast ohio and trust it has snowed. Plus I go to school in northwest Pennsylvania and it has snowed a bunch here too. I am not a huge fan of the snow but I still live in it 😂

It never gets easier to see the heartbreak the family goes through at diagnosis :/
I use to work at a hospital. You said you don't have to pay at night. Where I worked you can pick a parking lot where they charge a different rate. It might be more of a walk but I had the option to take a shuttle. Not sure if it works where you work.
Luckily I don't have to pay at night, I have definitely found the cheaper lot where I have to walk farther but it's worth it!
