This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It still makes me emotional today. The voices in the song are incredible. I wish they had this song on streaming platforms so I could listen to it more often.
I even remember where I was when I first heard this (Celine's part) on the radio. I didn't know who it was, so I (like many others probably) just assumed it was either Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. I'll bet this song (or this song moment) was where the majority of people back then first discovered Celine and became fans.
Michaels & Celines voices magnify beyond belief and stand above all others but what a great compulation put together by these people........im just sorry we lost so many of them over the years afterwards !!!
I was just a boy when this song was released. I was so proud of our troops. I remember standing in front of the TV crying while singing along with everyone in the video. Still proud of our soldiers today. God bless.
Absolutely wore this cassette tape out....Ralph and Bobby did their thing, and Celine had her coming out party on this...Luther and Michael and all the others were amazing.. lol they even had Don King in there lol
Bobby sounded great. He use to have a beautiful voice back in the day and a lot of people forget that. I honestly wish he never married Whitney Houston ( although I love her too, but they just weren't meant to be together)
I was 21 when this came out and my dear friend was deployed. I cried the first night I heard it. When he returned home, I played it for him and we cried together. You felt the love and unity in this! Not just music celebrities, but actors and athletes all came together to show love and support. I STILL cry watching it. ❤😢
I was most definitely against Desert Storm and the idea of sending our folks over there. This song, however, helped me to learn that it is NOT the doings of the soldiers that conflict happens. I loved that Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg were there, Kenny Rogers just being in the chorus, Will Smith in his Fresh Prince days doing a quick cameo. I am glad your friend came home safe.
I remember my mom and us kids listening to this song non stop as my dad was in Desert Storm. We went out to get the cassettes and watched the premier of this music video on tv.
This is one of the songs I memorised as a teenager in the 90s but didn't hear much of afterwards. Thirty years later I clicked onto Genius and read about its relationship to Desert Storm. I now see how the lyrics don't take a side and focus on sending love to those who saw friends and buddies lost, saw innocent civilians caught in the middle. I wish we didn't have to use war as an option 30 years later in 2022, but clearly some still think we do. Thank you to all who served; I and many others are deeply grateful for your service in defending the free world. From a small nation in the Far East that has benefited from a close relationship with the United States.
I was 13 and in high school when this song was first played. Life was without a worry. Today I'm 42 and listening to this song made me cry thinking about how this pandemic has taken the lives of so many. Our lives will forever be changed but i'll always know that there'll be people that care. Stay safe everyone
I was just saying that's Celine Dion. I hadn't even heard of her or knew who she was until She did Because You Love Me, which I think came out in 92 or 93. I absolutely loved that song and she still sounds Great! ☺
@@gigitadych8876 Because You Loved Me was released in 1996. But if we talk about Celine Dion biggest hit in 1993 it would definitely be The Power Of Love
This video came out when I was 16, it still amazes me and makes me cry....not cuz of the song, but the unity and celebrities involved...it's amazing! We need songs like this to get all of them together! But then again, why do we need a song to do that? This is unity...this should b alWays....pay it forward!!!!
ICONIC AF!!! We performed this at my middle school chorus in 1999, 8 years after it was made. It was powerful then and powerful now. I've always loved it
probably because people think Bobby is not a dope singer, probably because his current voice is often shot. Be also had some bad performances back in day probably drugs, and he danced so hard, he didn't always show off that awesome voice.
This song always gets me emotional (in a good way). I remember this music video, like it was just yesterday and I was in my teens when I first heard this song. Great music, wonderful voices and the best era ever. God bless.

Good memories, good song, wonderful talent and all great people from my childhood. Thanks for putting it on youtube.
Different memories for different people. I finished school in 2004 and this was our boys hostel song in Willingdon Hostel. Dr, Graham's Homes. India West Bengal. I'm not sure why or who choose it but we sang it with the same passion and shared the same brother hood. Miss you homes. Best years of my teenage life which will never come back.
Take it from a Desert Shield/Storm vet, this song mattered and still matters to our brothers and sisters still over there today. Thank you for posting this. It matters and it always will.
As a teacher of young'uns many years ago, moved by this song, I utilized the lyrics of this in my class....taught both the poetry and meaning historically of the song....including sharing with them this video.......today, many years later, I sincerely hope some of them remember it, as adults perhaps recognize the weight of the words and the convergence that existed in the making of this song & video
How come people back then , regardless of race , age , political background, whether they were for or against the war, could come together for a good cause like this!it was just about sending our love and appreciation for our troops. Same thing back in 87, with hands across America. What happened to this country?
What happened was the rise of cable news. People on each side could demonize the other in an echo chamber. Bias, greed, and sensationalism became more important than facts and a largely uninformed and undereducated populous ate it up. And here we are.
here's the order of singers :- Ralph Tresvant, Randy Travis ,Celine Dion ,Peter Cetera, Bobby Brown Brenda Russell, Jani Lane (Warrant), Luther Vandross ,Garth Brooks, Kathy Mattea, Gunnar & Matthew Nelson, Michael Bolton, Pointer Sisters Little Richard, Will Smith, Mark Knopfler -Guitar solo, Kenny G -Saxophone solo Warren Wiebe
@@adrijonoruddie3467 Actually, Jamie was right the first time. It's not a clarinet Kenny G is playing, but a soprano saxophone. A clarinet has a different look and sound compared to a soprano sax.
This is a such great and memorable song. it was an emotional moment because it was dedicated for the desert storm troops. I remembered when they played the music video on tv and I was such in awe seeing all the great talent that came together.
I was in Camp Lejeune waiting for deployment when I first hear this song. I remember being so alone without my family and then I heard this song... I hope the writers and celebrity know how much this song meant to me and many others.. even after all these years this song touches me.
I was in Kuwait and had just finished fighting the Republican Guard near the airport in KC when I first heard this song. Say what you will, but it made us all feel better. We did not know how the country felt about ODS while we were there. Many of us feared a Vietnam reception when we came home, since that was our point of reference. This song really helped in the days after the cease fire. Thanks guys. USMC vet, S battery 5/10th Marines 1988-1992

Thank for the mories this song. 😊
😊😊😊😊
Wow! Thanks for the list of singers in the choir. Amazing the diversity in it.❤
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It still makes me emotional today. The voices in the song are incredible. I wish they had this song on streaming platforms so I could listen to it more often.
Beautiful song. And wow Céline destroyed that break! But then again, would expect nothing less from that legend ❤️
More than 30 years later and this song still brings tears to my eyes. God bless the men and women in uniform. God bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Celine's part at 3:22 gives me chills every single time!
She took that note to outer space.Thought she was about to fall out if she didnt breathe on time lol.
Auntie Celine always give me chills
I even remember where I was when I first heard this (Celine's part) on the radio. I didn't know who it was, so I (like many others probably) just assumed it was either Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. I'll bet this song (or this song moment) was where the majority of people back then first discovered Celine and became fans.
@@omnipop4936 couldn't have said it better 🥰❤💞
I swear, Warren Wiebe just melts my heart everytime he sings. I cry whenever I hear his songs. May he rest in heavenly peace. ❤️
I seriously thought that was Stevie Wonder at the end when I first heard this. Dude had some really solid pipes. RIP Warren.
This song goes out to every single veteran that has fought and died for America, your service and your sacrifice will never be forgotten
God Bless America🇺🇸 from South Korea with Love🙏🏻
What a beautiful song, thanks for all the services man & woman, I lost my dad in the VN war, I'm still missed him, thanks for services
God bless.
that's the late great Jani Lane of Warrant... truly missed by the Glam Metal World..rest in peace Jani!
If you pay attention later on, Warrant is in the group shot of the choir with Jani.
A lot of people really dont talk about the 90s decade, but it was truly an amazing decade. A lot of good memories including this song.
celine's voice is superb!
Celine is just the best...what a voice!!!!
Ralph tresvant voice pointed the direction of this song very good.
RIP Luther Vandross & Warren Wiebe.
Rip little Richard
....Luther....Warren
...Jani Lane....Ruth Pointer... Kenny Rogers....
Here in 2019!!!! I remember when this came out. It was like We are the World II.
Its 2020
Me too
Im here in 2020 dedicating this to all the essential workers on the front line of this Covid 19 pandemic.. Modern Day Heroes!!
I wish Peter Cetera sang more than just that one verse. He’s got an amazing voice!
Evan Bakerian Peter Cetera is to Voices That Care as Steve Perry is to We Are The World.
Evan Bakerian yup he's like steve perry's part short verse too! In we are the world!
Dylan Hills yup i relate both artists' that were famous in the same time!
And i guess they added the lead singer of first edition, as an alternative to michael jackson? Lol just cuz he has a voice that relates to his?
I wanted to hear a few more voices from Peter C. He co-wrote this too, amazing vocals.
They were AMAZING!! still love them
I was 21 when this came out and my dear friend was deployed.
Still gets me teared up after 30 and yes I’m a proud veteran
Warren Wiebe had such an amazing voice. Such a loss. RIP.
wow! not familiar with him..his voice was amazing!!
I was 13 and in high school when this song was first played. Life was without a worry. Today I'm 42 and listening to this song made me cry thinking about how this pandemic has taken the lives of so many. Our lives will forever be changed but i'll always know that there'll be people that care. Stay safe everyone
Celine's parts were amazing.
love this song! brought me tears listening to the late Luther vandross! celin dion what a voice. love that lady
Celine Dion is just incredible...her voice is still as good and as powerful today
This song has been stuck in my head for the last week. It is the 90est 90s I've ever 90ed. Memories for sure!
너무 좋습니다...All is very good!!!👏👏👏👏👏👍
Class song!! My 3 favourite singers are in it!! Michael Bolton, Celine Dion and Garth Brooks ♡♥♡♥
Magical moment in music.
jani lane !! RIP, Kathy Mattea
The early appearance of Celine Dion in US. She slayed tho
She surely did. :)
When celine dion hit that high note towards the end my nipples got hard. Simply amazing and beautiful everyone can come together as one.
Damn if I don't cry every time she hits that high note. So powerful.
This video came out when I was 16, it still amazes me and makes me cry....not cuz of the song, but the unity and celebrities involved...it's amazing! We need songs like this to get all of them together! But then again, why do we need a song to do that? This is unity...this should b alWays....pay it forward!!!!
Ralph and Bobby though and then all them NBA greats love it
ICONIC AF!!! We performed this at my middle school chorus in 1999, 8 years after it was made. It was powerful then and powerful now. I've always loved it
2:41 Bobby Brown's voice in this is highly underrated
probably because people think Bobby is not a dope singer, probably because his current voice is often shot.
God bless.
Goosebumps..what a memorable song..i was 2nd year high school when this came out..greatest musician and artist ever assembled...RIP Jani Lane..RIP Luther Vandross..RIP Patrick Swayze...thanks for the memories!
Y'all know Randy Travis can barely string two words together because of a MASSIVE Stroke, right??? One of the greats.
You did great in this, Jani.. RIP.
This song always brings tears to my eyes thinking of those who didn’t make it back.
First time I heard this...so many emotions and tears went through me....still does💖
one of my favorite songs. such a strong social message that resonates through these days...
Wow I remember listening to this song when I was a little girl! Twenty years later this song still brings tears to my eyes!!!!
Ralph's smooth vocals was a perfect choice to open the song.
I know, I was like "You go Ralph!" he's great, so underrated compared to the rest of New Edtion
I remember this. I still have it on video tape and I've got the cassette tape where the celebs give well wishes to the troops on the B side. I love it. I don't care what anybody says. Good memories, good song, wonderful talent and all great people from my childhood. Thanks for putting it on youtube.
Still watching May 2024 ❤❤❤
Get it Celine! At the top of her powers..incredible.
Beautiful! This song still makes me cry!!
Céline is amazing!!!
Very instrumental in the song ... As a Canadian
Thank You for serving and those debating whether to enlist or not are you worthy of our community.
Rest in Peace Jani Lane...I love you.
I bought this cassette single, I loved this song so much, played it all the time, even bugged my local radio station to play it, thanks Jee!
I legit have loved this song since the day I first heard it in 1991
This is beautiful! Jani Lane
We love you brother!
I see this video now and it like all these different celebrities, most of them not known for singing, all in perfect harmony.
Don King was great!
PAUL FT how soon they forget when it's convenient for them I lost some good friends over there but we went willingly over there
The Democrat Party has been taken over by Communists, that’s what happened.
Having 45 As A Leader Is The Cause For The Turmoil The U.S. Is In Time.
I am a WW2 Navy Vet (Deceased) grandkid...., And you do NOT want my answer to your question.
I came home from Desert Storm and went straight to PLDC. I finished first in my class. Got my Corporal stripes from that.
I love that we see "Kevin Arnold" singing in this video! :)
A classic with amazing vocals. takes me back to junior high. 1991!!
here's the order of singers :-
Ralph Tresvant, Randy Travis ,Celine Dion ,Peter Cetera, Bobby Brown
Brenda Russell, Jani Lane (Warrant), Luther Vandross ,Garth Brooks,
Kathy Mattea, Gunnar & Matthew Nelson, Michael Bolton, Pointer Sisters
Little Richard, Will Smith, Mark Knopfler -Guitar solo, Kenny G -Saxophone solo
Warren Wiebe
Actually.. Kenny G was playing the Clarinet, not a saxophone..but close enough. Hehehe
Mark my boy.
@@adrijonoruddie3467 Actually, Jamie was right the first time. It's not a clarinet Kenny G is playing, but a soprano saxophone. A clarinet has a different look and sound compared to a soprano sax.
@@obsidiansands oh... My bad. I thought it was a clarinet.. sorry.
He's a Sax God just listen to Songbird not that im a hard fan of the instrument
Was in 9th grade when this song came out .. glad I found it!
I long that our country can come together like this again, regardless of views these people put this beautiful song together
It is crazing watching this and remembering when it came out and how many of those great ppl we have lost since then!
Great song! It seems like everybody's voice fits the track. David Foster is a superb producer!
Michael Bolton, Celine Dion AND Garth Brooks in the same video??? DAMN THAT IS HEAVEN!!!!
The Mike Tyson sighting killed me lol
Cristiano Ronaldo I had to laugh also, he can barely talk much less sing! lol
Mike Tyson and Don King!
I think he was probably putting the movies on Debbie Gibson next to him!
This is a such great and memorable song. it was an emotional moment because it was dedicated for the desert storm troops. I remembered when they played the music video on tv and I was such in awe seeing all the great talent that came together.
david foster is a great artist!! bravo!!
I was in Camp Lejeune waiting for deployment when I first hear this song. I remember being so alone without my family and then I heard this song... I hope the writers and celebrity know how much this song meant to me and many others.. even after all these years this song touches me.
Celine is just the best...what a voice!!!! 3:21
3:21
September 2020 and this still gives me chills. RIP Luther, my all time favourite
i never forget this song...
