- 2019 UPDATED Time Lapse: • Cape Breton Island - T...
On June 25th 2012 we mounted a camera inside our car and drove The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. The sights on this trail are really something! Sped up and mixed with music made by my talented friend Anthony Jarrett, check out this time lapse!
Here is some history of the historic road:
The Cabot Trail is a highway and scenic roadway in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
It is located in northern Victoria County and Inverness County on Cape Breton Island.
The route measures 298 km (185 mi) in length and completes a loop around the northern tip of the island, passing along and through the scenic Cape Breton Highlands. It is named after the explorer John Cabot who landed in Atlantic Canada in 1497, although most historians agree his landfall likely took place in Newfoundland and not Cape Breton Island. Construction of the initial route was completed in 1932.
The northern section of the Cabot Trail passes through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The western and eastern sections follow the rugged coastline, providing spectacular views of the ocean. The southwestern section passes through the Margaree River valley before passing along Bras d'Or Lake.

It doesnt matter where you are in canada, every Canadian can agree Canada is a beautiful place. And I too am extremely proud of be Canadian. I love this great country of ours!
Slow down and smell the flowers.I feel that you missed the WOW factor of this beautiful region.
Totally agree with you. We actually loved this drive and did stop in several areas. For the time lapse video; however, we removed the breaks and sped up the video so it's not like 3 hours long. But we do have a newer version of this trip posted on our channel.
Thanks for the great video of the island I call home !
I loved driving the Cabot Trail...all the way to North Point. We started in Cheticamp, where my father grew up
.My daughters loved everything!
Did the Cabot trail October 2019 just love Canada and it’s lovely people
Did you see the fall colors?
Moskal Multimedia yes some of the colours were really spectacular. We just really love Canada only done the east coast but would love to visit other parts.
Great video...love the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton Island! I am looking to retire there.

love the video.love the music. amazing scenery !! so excited to go there this summer .
Glad you like it! Im going again this year!
Thanks for posting this ... I'm heading there in 4 dAys from north bay Ontario .
Great video! I've been around the Cabot Trail four times and absolutely love Cape Breton Island! I think I lived there is a past life (lol) as it always gives me a great sense of being home.
I feel the same way
interesting as an experiment, but it doesn't do the trail justice. The view is precisely why volunteering to be the driver is somewhat of a sacrifice... one must look left of right, depending on whether you are going clockwise or counterclockwise.
Yes true
The leaves must be turning, who knows maybe i will im dying to get out there again! Thanks for the tip, noted
Beautiful words
Cheers
Wow! That's so fast!
I had a jet pack on my car!
you mean you didn't stop and hike the fantastic trails along the way like Jack Pine & Macintosh Brook tsk tsk. However great that you did it conter clock wise.
I live here did it eleven times one summer...Paradise Island....
Lucky!
i have a picture of my mother back in the 60s prob, with a picture taken off the mackenzie mountain looking at the coast in plesant bay.. and i have a picture of me around 2005 at the exact same look off and the different look of the cliffs in each picture is true time laspe
Well said
Good music.
Isnt it?
Nah we barely had time. We made it back to Halifax at 11pm and we were driving since 9am so it was a long day. We stopped to check out views hence the cuts in video but thats about it. We did it the opposite way because everyone does it clockwise. Why not right?
Next time you make a video of the Cabot Trail, make your drive on the first or second week of October, the scenery is astonishing that time of year. I'm doing the trail early October this year.
I still have this on my bucket list
This was fun to watch and obviously beautiful. The fast motion saves a bit on battery life. Thanks!
I couldnt get my eyes on the phone**** i wish i had a car.....
1200% It might be a little too fast but its so darn long that I used a higher speed
cool video!
Crappy video on a dash cam that doesn't even capture 1/100 of the magnificence of the Cabot Trail.... big time LAAAMO!
Sorry you didn't even it Steve. Have a good day
what speed % is this? 400%?
1200!
Aw aw oassing cars in Cheticamp? What's the rush?
just another old crooked road with nothing on it
This "old crooked road" is one of the best drives in all of Canada. Of course this is just my opinion but I think the mass amounts of bikers and cyclists that travel on this road would agree. I've done this drive twice and would love to do it again. So my question is if you have nothing nice to say why say anything at all?
You must be delightful to be around.
just beat the bugattis top speed LOL
Haha I wish!
