Thank you for all the love with this final part - it was such an emotional episode - I was exhausted after I stopped recording, but it was well worth it!

watching women game-play is so interesting the dept of emotion is richer , deeper
it also demand much better games and better characters emotionally , which is certainly for the best

I've watched a frankly embarrassing number of these playthroughs (only way to relieve the experience is seeing someone else go through it and all that) and I'm always a little disappointed when the player doesn't understand the last panel in Kratos' journey. You understood immediately and your reaction was almost cathartic for an observer who was also very touched by the ending that Kratos has been given. Thanks for the great episodes. It's been awesome to watch.

You’re most welcome Tyson. It’s wonderful you got to enjoy the moment again. I actually went searching for other reactions, excited to see what other people made of it, but I was so shocked, most just stared at it!? Then I thought, shit, didn’t I misinterpret it? But after checking, it was what I thought. And to me, the most perfect ending. The whole game is mainly focused on Atreus, but then bang, right at the end they remind you that actually, this is Kratos’ journey.

I have also watched an embarrassing amount of streams, close to a dozen now. Nat you had the exact same reaction I did. I held it together until that moment. Ive been with Kratos since 2005 and im a Dad now. The Norse games hit on such a deep emotional level. I bawl like a baby everytime I hear Raebs Lament play during Broks funeral.

    • @superbeast7738

Oh if I had only stopped at a dozen... I believe I have watched nearly ALL of the playthroughs on YT, and yes, most people just stare at the ending and not get it. Most are streamers who had this beautiful game robbed from them as they interacted with chat. If you don't lose grip of your feelings during this game, you are dead inside, or distracted by chat, lol. Congrats!

Thanks Super Beast. That's really thoughtful. It is definitely hard splitting the brain if you stream a story driven game. I'm very glad I kept this one for myself - even if I did cry 5 times!!

    • @PhoenixNat
      @PhoenixNat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

It such a beautiful crescendo to the whole journey. I'd only played 2018, but even that was enough to move me to uncontrollable tears! I'm glad you got to enjoy a very good ending - and many congratulations on becoming a Dad too!!

    From destroyer to rebuilder
From God of war to God of peace

The ending where kratos sees himself being worshipped made him cry because he never thought he would be loved or worshipped ever again.

I don't know if you noticed but Sindri was using Brok's hammer and sword in the final battle. It is also ironic that the event that caused Odin's death was not all his crimes but the murder of Brok. When he killed Brok he put Sindri on the path that ended him once and for all. Remember Kratos and company were content to leave him trapped in the soul marble. It was Sindri that killed Odin, with Brok's hammer no less. The writing in this game is absolute top notch. In the first 3 games Kratos was the player character, but he was never a hero. In the past 2 games they took a destroyer of worlds and the embodiment of vengeance and turned him into an avatar for justice and rebuilding. BRAVO Santa Monica Studios..................BRAVO!!!!!

tbh me too! because he proved worthy of his godhood by his redemption, being a good father.taking things into consideration without resorting to anger almost instantly like he used to, constantly reminded and fully aware of his past mistakes... i was like 9 when the first GOW came out, so growing up seeing how Kratos evolved into this cool, calm, collective person, with even greater strength held dormant is cool af@@PhoenixNat

I just love how the "blood upon the snow" in the end can be understood as a metaphor of Kratos' tatoos on his ashed skin, the memory of violence and evil that he will bear forever, but one that does not define him.

Oh damn, really?! It could be because I finished 2018 a week before Ragnarok came out, so it's pretty fresh in the mind - but I really liked that moment - it just showed how much we can assume and then believe wholeheartedly and then be very wrong, or let that belief guide our actions.

Contrary to what many say, I think Kratos is still, ultimately, a God of War.
But, much like Athena was associated with warfare as well as wisdom and crafts, Kratos can be so much *more* than that. He will be the God of justice, of reconstruction and compromise.
He was the God of hateful war. Of merciless slaughter, vainglorious conquest and personal vengeance at all costs.
Now? A God of righteous war. Of protection, preservation of justice, and an arbiter of peace. Not unlike what Tyr was described as in GoW 2018.
He is the mournful soldier who does not wish to take up arms. Who will offer you every chance to withdraw your desire for conflict and to seek a resolution. Who will implore those who seek conflict with him, time and time again, to please, PLEASE, choose peace... because they will not win the war.
Kratos will never regret the war he brings to his enemies ever again. He will only regret when they do not leave him another choice.
