Would like to see more community groups set up nearer ones home to communicate and have a social life with other Deaf living locally in one's area to break down social isolation.
I am 67 years old. And I have been experiencing occasional food, depends on certain kind of food mostly dried or sticky kind, stuck just below my throat. I need water or drink to help clearing it to the esophagus. I will follow your CTAR dysphagia exercise and hope for the best. Thank you, Kasondra!
Absolutely wonderful Kassandra. These exercises have helped me so much with my speech and swallowing. I had a stroke in 2018 and all these exercises have really helped me. Thank you so much
Thanks for the feedback Teresa and letting me know this is helping you. I really appreciate your comments. They help keep me going. Do you find the instruction based videos more helpful or the follow along?
New here, and grateful for your videos. My 31 y/o son had a brainstem stroke and is alert but completely paralyzed, Locked-In Syndrome. He has a trach and PEG feeding tube. He struggles with swallowing and aspirations have been problematic, so I am thrilled to find these very helpful exercises. Thank you. Do you do Zoom or Skype personal consults? We too are Californians but now live in Costa Rica where there isn't much therapy available to us
Hi Geoff and Georgia, I am so sorry to hear about your son. Managing a trach and PEG at home is a significant task. I have not been working private practice the last few years and would need to do some research about providing care internationally. This may change in the future as I have gotten other inquiries. Telehealth dysphagia treatment is not ideal. If I think of any resources or providers that may be able to work with you I will send them your way. Feel free to let me know what type of videos you are finding most helpful.

I am not familiar with any research using this exercise specifically for PD. Unlike stroke, dysphagia in PD degenerates with disease progression. This article suggests a few treatment options specific for PD, including expiratory muscle strength training: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6995701/
Great Question! Someone with a trach could use their hand to resist or do the jaw open against resistance. More info in this video: th-cam.com/video/LsFTjvn12f8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ljHc14a5kKKbXEpp
