Tabitha, you say in the end of your Video, i hope it helps. I can tell you I definitely does help a lot. Actually, this short video is really a guideline for recovery. And it remind me not to listen to the lies of anorexia. Because no one is ever scared to undereat, this is so true. But the fear of overeating is so big. It is so important just to let go and trust the body and just eat. Thank you for reminding me, thank you for making this wonderful video, thank you for your wonderful approach of Recovery, the only approach that actually works.

How do I know how much to eat without hunger cues?
I usually end up eating too less as I'm afraid to eat "too much"...

I have questions about fasting, restricting hours before eating.eating sugar free foods ? Are those better for our health?

TupolevPilot then you need to keep eating unrestricted until your body trusts you that there is no food shortage.

I'm in an outpatient program right now. A lot of people are afraid of gaining weight for ever and ever. How can I speak to them to calm their fears... In my understanding, people in really really large bodies probably have some kind of issue with food... I see a lot of people who dieted their whole life who are quite large. And are still in a restricting mindset. Basically what I'm asking is : is it possible for anyone to be in a very large body (having trouble doing everyday tasks) to be ED free ? I don't think so, but I'd like your opinion.

So can you naturally eat to 600 lb? Bc 600 lb people exist and that is an outlier that is just as unhealthy, although differently, as being 80 lb. So those ppl DO overeat then?

Does this apply to an actively-recovering body as well? I’ve been increasing my intake each week, and it’s driving me nuts wondering if this is disordered or not?
I know 3500+ calories is the goal, and I’m proud of myself for striving for that, but sometimes I think I should just jump to 3500 and let go of the counting.
So I guess I’m just asking if a structured, incremental increase type of approach is “better” than just letting go and jumping to 3500+?
(This video was absolutely golden by the way! Every time I comment on a video I can’t help but thank you for helping me. Your knowledge is just incredible! And your interactions with Dave are always such a highlight! So sweet!)

as long as you're not in danger of refeeding syndrome (which happens if you've been eating very few calories, say 800 or less, for a prolonged period, and you suddenly eat a large amount), you'll definitely be fine to jump right to 3500+. and of course, don't stop at 3500 if you want to eat more!

@@megkathleen you're welcome! i've been in your shoes before, and trust me, it feels SO amazing and relieving to just toss aside the meal plan and incremental increases and just EAT. the only thing to be cautious about is eating so much so fast that you're in pain or in danger of throwing up. you can always take a half hour break to take a nap, and then snack again if you still have mental hunger. go slowly and be sure to eat all the things you're craving! good luck :]

hectare I also want to ask, does increasing like this lead to even more weight gain? I’ve heard that it does, but I feel like everyone in the fitness community (thankfully not apart of that anymore lol) does the reverse dieting so that they can increase their metabolism without gaining more fat on their bodies. I’m just curious about that and has stuck with me since I started trying to recover.
Also, thank you again! You’re very helpful and I appreciate your advice so much!

@@megkathleen nah, don't believe those fitness gurus. and good job leaving that community! you were sensible enough to leave, so i think deep down you know to take everything they say with a grain of salt. anyway, logically, your body is in an energy deficit and needs to get to X-weight in order to settle and be happy. thus, you need X-calories to get there. so, you can choose to go at it slowly or quickly; technically, the physical outcome would be the same IF the mental stuff wasn't a factor. but you know your ED is all about that slow gain because it seems more comfortable...and it's also much easier to relapse. however, increasing your calories quickly is ABSOLUTELY preferable because you'll probably gain weight faster and thus recover faster. personally, i've done it both ways (due to relapses) - the neural rewiring pretty much doesn't happen when you go slowly because you're not REALLY challenging yourself, you know?
beyond everything, just remember that at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how much weight you gain. look beyond physical size and consider the beauty of recovery in and of itself. trust your body. i have faith in you!

I'm a young teen and I gain all my weight back from anorexia very quick, I'm nowhere near recovered but I've been counting calories since I started, I eat usually about 2000 a day and don't gain weight or lose but I always want more and I am frustrated that I didnt stop at the start of recovery because my body would have gotten used to more than 2000 and it would've been okay
I really want to stop counting and eat more but I really don't want to gain anymore weight, I don't know how to go about it

How do I do this whilst working ? I work as a waitress mist evenings for 6 hours or so, meaning that I don't eat for that time, and then when I get home, force myself to eat to a certain calorie amount late at night...but I also feel like I have to eat to those calories and im not actually listening to my hunger because I get very uncomfortably full !
But if I don't count cals, I get scared and don't challenge myself at night, undereat and wake up starving... Or just gradually loose weight !
I get stuck in this cycle so often...

Georgia Gidney hey! I think she did a video on this quite a while back about eating when having a full time job or eating when you don’t have the time I can’t remember the exact title but if you dive back a bit maybe you’ll find it. However the message probably was: make it a priority to eat more, take breaks to eat. Maybe also having drink packs of chocolate milk or something like that could help?

    • @hectare
      @hectare 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

legally you should be allowed to take breaks during your shift. be sure to pack a lot of snacks that are easy to prepare/eat, such as granola bars, dry cereal, crackers, bananas, chocolate, sandwiches, etc. i know it's hard, but you absolutely must eat during your shifts.

Smoothies with all the goods - add chocolate, pb, nuts and seeds, or even avo in :)
