I love your content. Got into fishing a little over a year ago and watched all Ur stuff. I've only got 1 arm so it takes me a little longer but I'm getting there with Ur wisdom. Thank u my man
Thanks Billy very informative video. I just relined my reel literally 2mins before watching your video I would've done it your way makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for that advice billy 👍 I used to fill my spool up to the top thinking I would get more distance but it's not worth it I ended up taking line off to 2 ml to make casting easier
Wish I'd known this before the first time I tried braid. Winter Cod fishing in Arbroath, 90lb braid, with a mono rubbing leader. First cast ripped the ceramic insert out of my split new SKS Black. Still use braid but went down to 50, with a braid shock leader as per your advice. Fished in some horrific conditions with no issues. I will say 8 strand behaves better than 4 strand does though. Live and learn though, I use an Okuma 8K Surf and it's line lay for the money it cost is Beautiful. Highly recommend one of them BTW. Copes easy with the rough stuff. I use that paired with a 14ft SKS black and it'll fish anywhere, even kelp beds.
Billy, you're a top Guy. Thanks for the useful & interesting video. Thought I'd try Braid on my Penn Surfblaster & Continental rod. WInd knots every other cast. Tried every trick and no change. Took the Braid off and put it on my Shimano 3000 & 4000 spinning reels - no problems. Only other thing I have found it that I was using an SG Surf Seeker spinning during the summer, and started getting line tangles. Didn't realise that a Surf Seeker rotates 360 degrees on the drop, so it was putting twists in the line. Now use a small swivel on the lure clip, and it seems to have helped. Stay safe & well - Dave.
Hi Trampster. singing gear and surf gear are different. If you used a mono leader and the reel in the high on the rod, I think that might be the problem. Thanks Brother, fish on 👍😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Thanks Billy - I was using a mono leader, and all of my rods are for Fixed spool and the reel position is fixed. Can't move 'em low.
Hi Billy you should have jumped on the ferry and came across for a visit I live in greencastle and fish the lough every chance i get . Tight lines your vids are class.
Cheers Billy, planning on doing a bit of jiggery pollockary this year, which is when I usually get the odd wind knot, likely from the constant tight and slack, so my fault I'm making "slow jigs" which are actually just lead poured into the groove when you bend a tin can. Nice one Billy, I'll be trying this method on my Penn slammer 4 - 2500 next time I refill, suffers from wind knots when throwing out lures even if I don't overfill.

@@Billyfishing_watch I mean like why use braid as a leader. You use braid on your main line . Then you put braid as a leader. Then you tie your rig on . Is that correct?
Hi. You don't need a shock leader, the rod in the video is a 60 gram rod it can only have a 60 g the main line is 20lb. More than enough to cope with the weight of the lure. All you need is a rubbing leader. My heavy spinning rods, 200 g all have braid leader and a short mano rubbing leader.👍
