Hi Kyle, sorry I'm late, was at the degenerate wasted lives fashion show for torn clothes and pre-loved no hope attire - we sold out. You talking about fire, I remember my dad (bless him) he was in the fire service, he never lasted long, he made me laugh.... 'fight fire with fire!' was his motto, come to think of it now, probably explains why he got kicked out - Thank You.

I learnt to do lead work from an old body man 35+ years ago, we used 50 weight motor oil to “lube” our paddles but it would smoke and it was easy to burn paddles, I have tried other media with my favourite being bees wax but it is very expensive.
I’m really enjoying the Chicken truck build too.

Kyle, your comments reminded me the following quote, attributed to Theodore Roosevelt, that I have kept for years.
"It is not the critic who counts.......
The credit belongs to the one who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred with by dust and sweat and blood.....
Who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement,
and who at worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly,
so that his place will never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat."
A bit flowery and of the war era but basically says the same thing.
Keep up the good work and ignore the critics because they really don't count!!

Leading is a process i wish to learn. It makes more sense to me to use something that is less likely to crack, especially in a high stress/use area. Ive been collecting lead from the junkers that come thru my yard for parts and scrapping, so like three cars. Got about 2 lbs so far.

I was looking at the chicken truck in the background during part of your monolog. Man the proportions from a distance are really spot on. Sometimes it's hard to visualize it up close, but, from a distance.......oh baby that looks great. As far as the lead controversy........anything the government is against, I'm for generally. lols Most people with negative comments are just looking to start a conversation or get a reaction. I'd just ignore them in the grocery store or anywhere else. They'll move on to some other guy to engage. Thanks again for your videos. I've watch everyone since being influence by Scott hyping your channel. I 've been building cars since the late sixties and don't see anything you do that, I can find fault with. I'm not sure who was the "professional" that came up with that special precedure, Glenn... but I always wished he would have taken on a different specialty.
The thing that really bothers me is that no one around my part of the world knew about the tools that were being used in other places. Tools like bead rollers (swaging machines), English wheels (wheeling machines), shrinkers, stretchers... Life would have been easier.
Then again.. I know "modern" guys who use spray foam as a base for the body fill.
Some things never change, I guess.

More outstanding work - and cat! My Dad, God rest him, back in the day taught himself to do lead work. He would buy insurance wreck Jaguars and repair them. This was late 50's I believe so these were Jaguar XKs, 120, 140 and 150. Well, when we were moving, I found some of his lead work stuff! Sticks of body solder, files and such. As far as the negative folk, pay them no mind. They don't matter, and they know it. They are just sad, bitter miserable people, screw them. I think for the next motivational speech you should have a cat montage with your voiceover being you in a bubble, like those sign language folks in their circle, and you'd be orbiting the cats as they frolic, or don't move at all, whichever they're up for. I am still waiting for delivery of my official autographed Carter Auto Restyling spatula.

Kyle, it was another outstanding video. I was worried there wouldn't be enough cat content but you came through at the end with some tremendous cat action. Now about your motivational speech, it was so inspiring that I may have to quit working at becoming a demotivational speaker. Something I was putting together for overachievers, trying to make myself feel better. "If you have never failed at anything, you haven't tried anything worth your effort." Thanks.

Oh I used that method to remove bondo.
My truck burned to the ground, cooking all the bondo out. Showing the original dents.
Now it just needs absolutely everything. 👍

This one shows the value of 'looking under the hood' at important details that end up having a major effect on the level of effort to create a usable door from 'scraps'. It looks like this recent customer always sandblasts his panels before brining them to Kyle. He evidently cares about quality, or he would not bring them to Kyle. Luv the sticker! I like the musical interludes and the credit music. I think your music supervisor should get a promotion!

Sad that people have to spread so much negativity, and you are right about why they do it. I have so much wrong with me physically, and i have to keep moving so that can try and maintain what i do have. I have progressive MS, and it has caused muscle wasting on my entire left side. My muscles are half the size of my right side, and i can't feel my left hand, which makes many thing's a challenge, not to mention taking so much more time to do anything. I have injuries from an accident that slow me down to, but i fight through the pain and frustration to do what i have always loved to do.
I enjoy these video's, and have been watching your older video's. I like the idea of using lead when possible, it just seems logical, and looks fun. I like your commentary as you work on stuff, the sarcasm is well placed. Just keep doing you, and I'll keep watching. I'm probably one of only two female viewers, and no i am not gay. Those who grew up in the 70's&80's know about being free child labor lol. I was older than my brother, and was the official grunt for my dad and grandpa, but that's okay, because they taught me a lot about fixing pretty much anything. I have ADHD, so this kind of work has always kept me busy. G-d bless.

Always a good time when I stop by your garage to watch you work your projects on the channel. Even the negative comments help the algorithm Kyle, so go ahead and lead away. Big 👍 The channel is growing, but I got unsubscribed somehow. POd.

Yeah it’s harder to find lead. My local auto supply told me that they can’t get it or won’t get any more. I saw a video on using plumbing solder for small dings and it works. I like the idea of metal replacing metal. There was a plastic filler called “all metal” that sort of resembles lead, but can’t even find that anymore. So, I have been relegated to using Bondo, in tiny amounts!

    • @CarterAutoRestyling
      @CarterAutoRestyling  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hi Paul. The "all metal" is actually just plastic filler with aluminum shavings mixed in to turn it silver colour and make it harder to sand. In my opinion, it's just overpriced snake oil. There's nothing wrong with using regular plastic filler. If you need to fill a weld seam or something more than 1/8" thick, then short strand fiberglass filler is the best option as it's moisture resistant and more flexible than the "all metal"
