    If the elbow is down u're not using your triceps strength. But with your elbow facing to the side the triceps get together with the delts adding more power to the movement. Simple like that.

    I love this. Thank you because I never thought of it as a spinning technique superior to the backfist and will use this. I was fortunate enough to learn a technique I never see but it is money. Throw an upward hammer fist to either the liver or spleen depending on the side. I think you should show this technique. It is very powerful and nobody expects it. Hammer fist to the body are awesome. Depending on position you can hit anywhere even to the solar plexus if you side step. I am not a pro fighter. I did Taekwondo and this is my best hand strike. Basically, instead of hammer fisting the temple, throw it low as a body shot to the floating ribs. We used to brake boards and laugh all you want this low hammer fist allowed me to break 5 no spaced boards. Also, I have had to used it. I practice it on the heavy bag too. I am not a boxer so the strike is great for none MMA people like me. Hammer fists are the most powerful strikes ever! Yes, that meaty part of the hand is meatier than a bulls ass!

      UPWARD hammer fist to the liver or spleen? 😐🫢
      Not doubting you bro I'm just having trouble picturing exactly what you mean.
      Do you mean like throwing a low hook or shovel hook to the body but twisting arm so that hit with a hammer fist instead of knuckle/fist?
      Anyway I agree hammer fists are awesome, and a way underutilized technique IMHO.

    People actually throw spinning back fists with the elbow DOWN? Except for the part with glove padding, everything you said works just as well with a back fist.

    • @daleharris3896
      @daleharris3896 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should try practicing and using hammer fist and practice missing and striking secondary objects or nothing at all.
      I intentionally appear as if I am missing as a set up to a spinning hammer strike. The hammer strike increases impact pressure usually greater than a person can take especially to the head.
      This a dangerous method of fighting and can kill.
      It's actually a ritualistic method of combat designed to kill or mame or cause death later.
      It's my only defensive move and missing is only a setup.

    I must have never been taught a traditional spinning fist, because my elbow is up and I still hit with my knuckles. I don’t know if I have ever seen a knock out with a spinning hammer fist, but I will start looking. I know I have seen many knockouts with a spinning back fist. I have never seen an elbow down spinning back fist that I remember.

    The one danger with a spinning hammer fist is if you land it just a little bit too deep, you strike on the ulna at it's weakest point (it's a stick-fighting target for a reason.) Less of an issue with boxing gloves on than bare knuckle.

    This is a great video. I use both techniques but must say one comes with a certain anxiety when you train bare knuckles for self defense. The hammer is just safer. Both have their place and can be used with devastating power, but the back fist could leave both people injured unless youre a shaolin monk haha.

    You probably won’t get a metacarpal break from a spinning backlist because the knuckles, connective tissue/flesh and muscle will help absorb the strike. I’m pretty confident that if I were to go spinning hammer fist a tree a few dozen times, I’d be ok. With normal punches, you put direct pressure on the bone and I could see how you could break the metacarpal bones.

      That is true, with the ulna bone taking the brunt of the force (as opposed to it being dispersed across the ulna and radius bone with a backfist). Lots of factors to keep in mind. Just remember that range is key!

  • @Sk0lzky
    @Sk0lzky 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    In mma where you have barely any padding on the top of the fist or in fights without gloves it's actually safer to use hammers - there's no way to avoid some injury to your tendons and veins without a solid protection of that part of your hand. And tendon injuries are the worst, I'd rather have a broken bone :v

I have never seen anyone throw what he is calling a spinning back fight but due to my karate background, I would call a spinning back knuckle. Every time I have seen someone throw it they throw what he calls a spinning hammerfist or what I would call a spinning back knuckle.

    Why don't you see a lot of Spinning Hammers in Muay Thai? Is it illegal?

  • @WildNightGaming
    @WildNightGaming 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why can't they be done the same way, and why is the hammer fist stronger theirs less surface area to hit.

    • @Ventus_the_Heathen
      @Ventus_the_Heathen 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The less surface area the more you maximize force. It's the same concept as if you were to kick with the point of a boot or the top of the foot. You have (roughly) the same amount of energy moving towards the target and then you focus it on a smaller point to maximize the damage.

      @WildNightGaming 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your point is valid, but I'm my opinion this video was horribly made because they bashed on a technique without knowing the right facts. Example they said you are more likely to break your hand doing a spinning back fist which is not true it's the other way around because a spinning back fist has more bones to brace it instead of just the pinky bones. At the end of the day there is no wrong answer though it's like debating about religion no one is right they both work I just don't like how he slandered the spinning back fist.

    Guys I don't think that's a safe technique like you're saying ... With the kick terminology if a kick is being double blocked what's next? Catching it. With a spinning move that's a nightmare Obviously because you solidify a position of them being bot behind you and grappling your nearest offense and defense.
    I don't know if this is now sport tips instead of fight tips but nah.
    That is a nice to catch someone coming in with whatever footwork you read them with - unsafe!
    Mostly because of a grapple.
    They might even just put opposite spin on you.
    Likewise completely open to lower level takedowns. No chance.
    You protect that vulnerable technique with footwork to flank or retreat.
    Still like your details in general ... Respect.
    Super safe?
    Nah.
    That's why in original martial arts that move had so many variations.

    Now couldent you do your spinning backfist with the same technique as the hammer fist but just rotate your wrist? So that it would be a spinning back fist?

    its physiologically better, doesn't expose the vulnerable backside of the hand and translates way bette rinto self defense and tool use.

    Spinning hammer or fist are great tools to choose from.
    I spin without the step to the side and let my feet follow.
    I find this to be least detected and defended against.
    Accuracy is critical and a miss should be anticipated rather than contact.
    The other way around and you will be out of form.
    Practice decreases misses.
    Very few men can take the full impact force to the head.
    I'm more concerned about killing someone than knocking them out.
    This method is not new but rather a ritualistic duel often times ending in death to one or both the fighters. And they do not spar;. They actually trade blows.
    If they flinch or duck they lose by default.
    Have used this and basically this method all my life and it's rarely seen anywhere but in Asian defensive art forms so; it is named thus. However; this form of fighting came before clubs or spears.
    The desert Chinese and coastal Eskimo Indians have use their limbs as weapons when only their bodies and limbs were available.
    The spinning hammer fist will crush a man's skull if there is a tree or wall on the other side.
    I hit steel plates with my bare closed hand or fist and so hitting a human head or torso is like striking a pillow with a bone in it. Your focus should be on the bone inside the pillow.
    Missing and hitting a wall or tree should be prepared for and should be struck at full force. Never pull back or pull up short.
    If you break your hand; leave the area.
    So; never anticipate impact is critical. And killing someone is highly probable.
    The intent of the ritual duel was to kill or mame the opponent. without a weapon or defensive tactics.

    *me listening to the first point* "what is this guy talking about? F=ma. The bigger give doesn't disperse more force, it delivers more because of its larger mass.
    The correct way to throw a spinning back fist is not on a straight line, but on an arc. You want to make sure you strike with the knuckles and not with the flat of your hand where small vulnerable bones are.

      @@LivestreamSurfer lol nvm I see your point but I think he was referring to the amount of padding not the impact area

    • @DavorBa
      @DavorBa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mass is already a part of that punch, that mass doesnt go anywhere when you spinning hammerfist, in fact, its more concentrated because the impact area is smaller, unlike hitting with the entire back hand + cushion.
      Lets be real here, you wont hit with knuckles every time, and even if you do, the cushion will still do it's thing.

    • @LivestreamSurfer
      @LivestreamSurfer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zulain6213 but the padding is part of the equation. That's my point. The padding is mass. Force is equal to the mass of an object times the acceleration. So the larger padding means larger force transferred to the object.
      Which is why concussions are more common in boxing and football.
