      Not all abusive guardians are the same.
      Neither are the ppl being abused.
      The words might make it seem like the situation is "the same"
      But it is not.
      This girl will live have to live the rest of her life with blood on her hands.

    I think Lisbon changed her mind because she saw that Trina was truly sorry about what she had done, Trina herself says that ''it's okay, Teresa''... That girl is brave... Lisbon should be the one reassuring the girl but here it's the other way round...

    This scene shows how Jane trusts Lisbon to do the right thing. Bcos if he didn't t, he never would have brought her here. He wanted her to be a part of this.

    I can see both sides of this. The girl did kill someone, yes, in self defence. Lisbon was just going to do her job. But she had a change of heart because I think she realised, after the convo with Jane, that it could possibly have been her as a young girl instead. Tough one, but I have no problem with it being the right call.

    While Lisbon is right that they don't get to choose who gets a free pass, Jane is also right that this girl shouldn't be punished.
    She's already been punished enough. Born into this life getting abused.
    This girl had either a choice to keep getting abused, or to defend herself.
    And if she defends herself, she possibly could get convicted, and even if she's found innocent, there's the foster care situation.
    She was born into a life where she would suffer no matter what choice she made.
    Giving her a free pass was the right thing to do.

    I would so like to see a TV series about Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon's child (son or daughter), because Teresa Lisbon is already highly intelligent but of course Patrick Jane pushes all aspects of intelligence far over the top.

    Of course Jane would advocate for Trina because she did what he is trying to do. She got her revenge on the person who killed her mother. Jane follows his gut and his instincts. Lisbon follows rules. This is a conflict between the both of them throughout the series. They each pull each other towards the other's perspectives. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes they don't. The very important thing that the writers show us is that they still respect each other even though they may disagree. One very lovely quote from Jane in 07x08: when Lisbon is upset that Jane took her away from the action because he was afraid for her safety, she says "How do we work together?" and he responds, "Well, we work it out." His response is very mature, which shows how much he has grown and how much he loves Lisbon.

    I know the difference between reality and fiction. I'm not a crazy person. :) It's just easier to speak about the show the way I do, rather than saying 'The writers could be trying to show this, or this, or this.' It's just my way of processing what's happening on the show.

    I never understood why Lisbon was so hard on this girl who did it to stop her father from killing her. What was with her dragging her past into it? She was discriminatory. Lisbon's dad never tried to kill her nor did her father KILL her mother, she found out and was in danger! We learn Lisbon covered up for Sam when he killed a perp but she won't make a judgment on a clear cut self defense by a teen? Her actions with her ex Sam are more pick and choose than the decision she had with the girl.
    People thinking Jane was manipulating her? No. Jane is such a father with kids it was from his heart and he cared about the poor girl who was forced to kill her dad.

    • @sagnikmondal4058
      @sagnikmondal4058 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Sam wasn't Lisbon's ex. And cops have a way stronger bond with their partners than a random girl. Also, cops don't get to decide if it was self defence. It wasn't nearly as black and white as you make it seem.

    I can't decide if I like this, or if this bothers me. I love the fact that Lisbon and Jane are obviously becoming closer, and close enough that she actually listens to him. But then again, I was counting on her stopping Jane becoming a killer, but now it is looking a little bit like she's caving. That worries me, because I don't want to see Jane as a murderer, regardless of the fact RJ is a serial killer. Hmm...

    @katestaleyx Consulting, like in any field, is part of the job. But as for the majority of what was on the show, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'd once seen an interview where Le Blanc remarked on how, when his character Joey gets fired from his Soap for saying he came up with the lines, that he wished it was even somewhat true of Friends. That while they'll goof off on set or what have you, that it was really down to those that go unseen.

    ...she did do it. and her job was fine. you're making no sense. and it's not like she's blindly obeying him; he convinced her that it was right. your comment made it sound like the principle at stake was that jane was only making the suggestion (the morally right suggestion, mind you) because his job wasn't at risk on the off chance that they were found out and lisbon's was, thus she shouldn't do it. which is monstrous and horrible.

    • @sadrainy

      Considering that Lisbon's father beat her and her brothers half to death, that wouldn't be true as her life was in danger from her father as well.

    • @burningsickle
      @burningsickle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's also needlessly aggravating. Regardless of whether you agree with the decision ultimately made here (and it is generally setup to favor Jane's side) asking someone who believes in the system as much as Lisbon is a BIG deal. Asking Lisbon to compromise morals that define her profession is big enough nevermind wielding her deep seeded emotional problems against her. Making this comment would never have resulted in the desired outcome. Lisbon needed time to come to terms with the decision, and ultimately, justify it for herself.

  • @DomClancy

    @Ashtree28
    Respect, you mean you don't want to be condescended to, right? Asking about respect makes it seem like you're really sensitive about this. Its just a bit much, seeing so many people posting of 'Jisbon' stuff. Its a little 'irksome'; so maybe you bore the brunt of that.
    But good to hear that you know the difference. You'd be surprised how many people don't. Lots of viewers of say, Friends, often believed the actors themselves came up with most of it.

  • @rightleftwinger
    @rightleftwinger 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    so the principle reason that lisbon should have sent that girl to waste away for a year in juvie or foster care is because her job could potentially have been in trouble?

    • @burningsickle
      @burningsickle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      The principle reason for sending the girl away is that you either believe in the system or you don't. If cops - upholders of the law - are quick to give up on the system, it swiftly gives way to all kinds of deviant behavior. Lisbon doesn't want the girl to go to jail any more than Jane, but she was willing to trust that the system would make the right decision because she HAS to. If she can't trust the system then it compromises the entire point of law enforcement, and in turn, brings into question every arrest / case / role she played in upholding the system at which point it becomes almost impossible to wholly commit to performing the duties of a cop.
