talk about terrifying, seeing the rounds impact literally centimetres from you and hardly any cover... bad bad situation. This mate is lucky to be alive, I'm glad he made it out okay.
It’s good to see you give your perspective of what happened here and how all infantry can learn from it so they dont find themselves in the same situation. Would love to see the AAR for this engagement, everytime I have watched this footage in the past, there would always be so much misinformation in the comments. There are dudes claiming they were part of this dudes unit and saying that the dude was a terminal PFC that always made shit decisions that endangered people. Then on the other side there are guys that claim the dude was sacrificing himself to draw fire so the base of fire on top of the hill could find the enemies position. I’m glad he survived regardless of what the situation was. Dont know if you saw it Gary, but the reason he dropped his M4 was due to one of the pkm rounds hitting his 40 mike mike, knocking the rifle out of his hands, when he retrieves his rifle you can kinda see the hole in his M203. (This is according to his interview on funkers page).
so i found this in a reddit comments thread of the video so take that as you will So I can’t go too into it because homeboy always threatens to sue anyone that tells this perspective. However, I was in the same unit (not the same company) and some of my homies were on this patrol. First, this guy wasn’t even in the platoon that came under fire, he was in the company headquarters section and was just on the patrol as a tag along/tourist. The reason he didn’t take cover on the reverse slope is because he is overweight and out of shape. He put a bunch of trigger pullers at risk by getting his ass wounded. He was disliked by most in the company and had bad reputation in the Battalion. The story about him “drawing fire away from his men” was a narrative concocted by him and is bullshit. Having said all that, there’s two sides to every story and I never really cared to get his. It’s still a sweet video

I couldn't imagine being in that position. I hope he was alright & got help pretty quick. Thanks for sharing. Prayers for you & your family. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks again..

For the US, we call covers ss cover and ir concealment. Concealment is just hiding, cover is protection.

Ha ha, can you post a link please?
You're damn right about the .50. Let off two short bursts and the enemy fire immediately slowed down a lot and became less accurate.
