Menopause is a nightmare. I am 50 yo and I no longer need to go to a doctor. All my problems and weird new health issues just seem to be due to my peri menopause. Let's forget hot flashes, the range of problems caused by menopause is just far more sinister and shocking. I am learning a new one almost every week. 😧😢
Oh my goodness! I'm in the UK & had an 'early' menopause & my GP was very dismissive when I was in the peri-menopause around 38. I was working nights as a nurse & well remember the pain of having cracked heels, walking down corridors on tip-toes. I also had extremely bad migraines too. But I never associated the heel condition with menopause. I was 43 at menopause. Never offered anything [HRT or kindly care] to support me, luckily I have survived pretty well 🙂 but it's astonishing to find this out now. I'm better informed for future generations. Thank you.
Yep! I asked my dermatologist what was going on with my heels and she said it's just something that can happen to older women. Mine is mild compared to the photos you showed. It was confusing because I also developed psoriasis on my elbows, one eyelid, and now a small patch on top of one hand.
Since menopause, the skin on my body is particularly dry but my face is still somewhat oily. Last Winter I started using a thick layer of Vaseline after showering and it's been a game changer for me. I would have never tried this if it wasn't for you, Dr Dray, so I thank you. Happy Thursday! I hope you have a nice evening. 💟
Thank you!!!! I tried to talk to my dermatologist and my GYN dr about my painful, splitting palms and heels but neither diagnosed me with this but this is absolutely what I have! I even told them both that I noticed it around the time of menopause! The worst is the palms of my hands because they split and it is worse because I have to wash my hands a lot due to my job. I can't take HRT because I got blood clots when I tried oral HRT and apparently it either activated a clotting disorder or I just have one, because I have had clots several times since I tried HRT. Thank you also for mentioning that not everyone is a candidate for HRT, because the trend now is for everyone to say "just take HRT."
Burdock root will fix the acne. Burdock root is rich in antioxidants, like quercetin and luteolin, which combat free radicals and reduce inflammation, both key factors in acne. It has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties that target the bacteria responsible for breakouts, helping to clear clogged pores and prevent new blemishes. Additionally, burdock root promotes detoxification by aiding liver function and flushing out toxins from the bloodstream, a process that can improve skin clarity. Its diuretic properties also reduce puffiness and help balance hormones, which can lead to fewer hormonal acne breakouts. These combined benefits make burdock root effective for acne management.
Same with the acne! Not fair having acne and wrinkles. Although I really don’t have many wrinkles because I’ve always had oily skin. But my back is so dry, and itches horribly if I get overheated!
Thank you Dr. Dray for talking about menopause and skin challenges. I am currently going through some stuff myself and seeing a Dermatologist but learning lots with you. THANK YOU!
I'm 49 and for the first time I have CORNS! Effing fucking CORNS! WTF?! I've been dealing with the scaling for a couple of years that Kerasal helps eliminate after a few days of use, but these corns/calluses are horrible. They just showed up one day! I will now use well-fitting, indoor shoes and get rid of my stupid fluffy (which I thought would be good) Birkenstock dupe sandals/slippers. Thanks for the tips Dr. Dray, of course consistency is key.
I remember looking at the cracks in my mom's heels and I remember when mine were badly cracked and nothing worked (at least the things I tried back then) until I aged out of it. The cracks were on a whole other level than just dry skin. The heels thickened like tough leather.
I am 56 and i dont have cracked heels...yet....however ive noticed constant dry and peeling skin on top of some toes. Ive tried everything, some help in the short term but it always comes back..weird!
I know Vaseline and socks is the answer, but as a menopausal person, the mere suggestion of socks makes me feel violent LOL! One day! But not until I’m not a living breathing ball of fire lava. 😂
Eucerin has a roughy and bumpy cream in a tube with a tip. It’s high in urea. I just started trying it on my feet. The nice thing is it doesn’t stay sticky like Vaseline so I take my socks off after like 5 mins and there’s no issue. So far working very well to keep my feet soft. Might try that!
I don't have the type you mentioned but I do have rough heels - I went barefoot all the time as a kid and still do a lot. I began to take skincare that didn't work so well or was too strong or irritating on my rosacea facial skin and instead of tossing it, I use it on my feet! The ones with glycolic or other exfoliating acids work really well to soften my feet but so do the other serums and lotions. :)
This is great! Thank you for this video. My mom had this, and because she also had diabetes, it made taking care of her feet that much harder--and important! The Kerasal has worked a charm for my dry, cracked feet, and it did in fact work better for me than just Vaseline and socks.
